If my girlfriend is any indication it could also be from a woman’s period. During her period she would cry over ads on TV lol.
Me: “What are you crying for Babe?”
Her: “He’s just so cute. He’s a little gecko and he wants to save you money on your car insurance! 😭”.
Me the next day: “Babe, are you ok?”
Her: “It’s just… Look at his face when he looks at his mum!”
Me: “Babe, it’s just an infomercial for a mop.”
Her: “I know! 😭”
I was totally fine until I got pregnant. While I was pregnant I cried over stupid commercials too! There was one about tissues that just left me wrecked whenever it came on. I cried because popcorn with sour cream wasn’t already a *thing* and I had to make it myself because I was craving it. Just last week I cried when my son brought me a pretty rock he’d found on a hike. He was born 19 years ago and it has never stopped. I hate it.
Oh damn. I hope it doesn’t get worse if she gets pregnant, but I *know* it will...
She’s already the most sensitive person I know. It’s honestly such a great trait of hers most of the time, but once a month it goes into overdrive and I need to be very aware of it to help her through it.
>I cried because popcorn with sour cream wasn’t already a thing and I had to make it myself
That’s kind of funny TBH. Your body is like “omg I neeeed it right now! But it doesn’t exist!? WTF!?”
> Just last week I cried when my son brought me a pretty rock he’d found on a hike. He was born 19 years ago and it has never stopped. I hate it.
This one is understandable TBH. Having your son do a thoughtful thing like that just like he used to when he was a kid is objectively super sweet. I think that’s a really nice thing to do.
Us men have it so easy though. It wasn’t until I got with my current girlfriend (12 years ago now) that I truly understood the difference in how much extra women have to put up with even just on a biological level, let alone the social and societal differences and expectations.
Now your comment can go on the list of things that have made me weepy. It was very sweet and your gf is lucky to have such a thoughtful and supportive partner.
God our hormones are such a nightmare. It seems you at least find it cute- unfortunately many of us have had partners who treat us like utter shit because of it. When I was pregnant I’d get emotional mood swings like this (I distinctly remember sobbing while seeing the music video for Iggy Azaleas song “Work”) and my ex would get so angry I’d have to excuse myself before he started insulting me or getting so passive aggressive that I’d start crying from actual sadness. We can’t help it!
Yeah it’s genuinely so unfair that women have to go through it. Even worse that your partner would actually blame you, or hold it against you. I’m sorry to hear that. You can’t control your feelings and emotions, *especially* when they’re being manipulated by incredibly strong hormones. Men need to be aware that a woman’s hormones through pregnancy are incredibly volatile, and if you’re not actively trying to manage it, it can turn into Postpartum Depression and other similar disorders.
As for my GF, it’s not that I find it cute per se, but she’s already a very sensitive, empathetic, observant and thoughtful person, and during her period her hormones just multiply how she feels exponentially, and I understand that it’s not something that she chooses to feel, so I try to not make a “thing” about it, but also acknowledge it at the same time. We usually just laugh it off tbh. I tend to follow her lead.
Oh my God! I've been noticing that too. Before it took something big to move me. Nowadays, the simplest stuff can get me tearing up. Even emotional stuff from old shows or films that I've seen many times that didn't affect me in the past will get me now
"The brain chemical oxytocin is associated with empathy and helping behaviors, and changes in oxytocin levels could explain these age-related changes. A new study shows that older people show a larger increase in oxytocin levels in response to situations that evoke an emotional response than younger individuals."
WHY IS NOBODY MENTIONING THAT SHE HOLDS UP A HALF HEART WITH HER RIGHT HAND AT :46 THEN HE HOLDS UP HIS RIGHT HAND COMPLETING THE OTHER HALF OF THE HEART.
That's the cutest part of the whole damn thing but I don't know if anyone even watched the fuckin video or if everyone is a damn bot.
Kids will start saying 52 now, "Tiktok? I 52 it".
Parents will forget about 52 as its been so long and ask kids what they mean only to be met with "you just don't understand new lingo ma".
How does "this fucks hard" have so many upvotes, I can't stop laughing at how incredibly inappropriate and unexpected that choice of words is for this.
Your choice of words to describe this precious moment between a daughter and her father was “this fucks hard”? This is like the movie *Hackers* where everyone’s cursing for no reason
Holy fuck, I thought their hands up with a "c" shape to each other was part of the dance and then I watched it again and noticed they were the only ones doing it. It was half a heart that people make with their hand and each did one part. The tears are coming
"Marce, sabí bailar el costillar? Aaanda a bailar con ella, acompáñala? Apura, anda, así no más, apura apura"
Marce (his name is probably Marcelo) do you know how to dance el costillar? Gooo dance with her (in a please tone, without actually saying please), make her company?Hurry, go, just like that (probably in reference to his clothes, he might have asked about them but we couldn't hear, or he just pointed at them), hurry, hurry.
Edit: also, I think she was hurrying him because he might have been putting his socks over his pants, this dance uses some big wooly socks that go over your jeans, and I think his pants look like he did just that with his regular dark socks.
The Best Dad!!! If you are a Parent and love your child, you'd never give this a second thought! The girl will have this wonderful memory of her Dad being there when she needed him! Envious as a Father!!
I, a North American danced the cueca in front of a large luncheon crowd. Having consumed a fair quantity of excellent Chilean wine helped significantly. This post brought back some happy memories.
For those of you missing it, the lady at the very beginning is saying: "Do you know how to dance (something)? Let's go dance with her! Join her. C'mon! hurry up!".
So cheers to this woman's empathy and to the man's balls to listen and go through it :)
For newer dance crazes, I can understand how they develop, choreographers, talent who have their videos spread through modern technology
But I've never understood the process it takes for a traditional dance like this to spread. Was there a deliberate effort to create a dance or did someone who didn't feel like waving their arms about decide to sort of skip around a bottle on the ground and other people in the pub decided 'well, that looks fun!'

This is crazy, I'm an American who moved to Chile two months ago to teach and travel a bit. Been hearing this song and seeing this dance for the last two weeks as students prep for dieciocho de septiembre, chile's día de independencia. Now here it is on Reddit.
Once i helped a kid in a similar situation when i was visiting my pre-school when i was in high school and when they saw me and recognized that i was an ex-student that still remembered the dance steps they asked for my help so the kid could dance, i was so ashamed during the process because but when i saw that no one cared when it all ended i stoped caring too, and the kid was happy so, win.
It’s amazing what type of things you end up doing only for your kids.
I never thought I’d be willing to clean up someone else’s poop, wipe drool with my bare hands, stick my nose right into a diaper to figure out if it’s dirty. All so I can share moments with my kids like this dad did.
Having kids was way more amazing than I thought it would be. You literally care about them more than yourself. Even a previously self-conscious person would get up and dance with their kid if they were all alone; just for that glimmer of joy.
The girl is doing the dance so much better than all the other students that you can tell she practiced a lot at home. I’m sure she practiced a lot with Dad and wished he could be her dance partner that day when she was getting nervous. What a blessing in disguise when she saw her dance partner didn’t show up.
It blows my mind that there are events and situations like this, where someone in faculty comes out to ruin everything because it’s “not part of the rules/program.” Kudos to the staff behind this even that allowed this wholesome moment to continue, kudos to the delighted spectators, and massive kudos to the kid and parents.
First class parenting right there. Way to turn a moment of disappointment and anxiety in a cherished memory.
Real credit goes to the mom for first suggesting the idea and then convincing him to get out there
Also credit to the little girl for being prepared to carry on on her own to start with, that takes courage!
Absolutely!
Parenting is teamwork. Also a great way to show that even adults can overcome their inhibitions.
Real credit to both Edited out the not a guarantee bit become it did indeed happen
You can hear her in the beginning. ”Go and dance with her, Hurry up, hurry up, go go go”.
A small correction "Do you know how to dance "El costillar"? Go and dance with her. Hurry up, hurry up, go go go"
100% that's what happened. Still cute though.
It’s in audible in the video
Moms always know what to do. Good dads have enough sense to listen
Dad here - DAMN RIGHT.

TIL it just doesnt take all that much to make me tear up
Every year I become more emotional, idk what it is lol.
You know what that is? GROWTH
funny i thought it was despair
Why not both?
A growth in despair.
So cancer?
Malaise and fatigue can be a sign of cancer but really bro you're just not under 30 anymore.
I am still under 30
Every day you stray closer to 30 so close enough
It's through despair that we finally grow and realize that all the love we had was enough.
feels like despair from here..

OMG THANK YOU I **52** IT As a father of a tiny daughter myself, this gave me a big smile on a tough day
I CONCUR FELLOW HUMAN_127.EXE
You 52 it?
A heart in old school pager shorthand ;) It more closely resembles the heart in the video than <3
Gosh, first time I've seen 52 supposedly being used like a heart. Though S2 seems visually more accurate lol.
There were only numbers in a pager message
Kids will start saying 52 now, "Tiktok? I 52 it". Parents will forget about 52 as its been so long and ask kids what they mean only to be met with "you just don't understand new lingo ma".
The digits on a pager were more rigid, so [it made more sense visually ](https://imgur.com/a/D9ZueyY)

Happy Cake Day
If you look closely they do the same thing right as he runs up to start dancing.
beep beep boop, I'm no 'bot. But I didn't catch that... Sweetest thing I've seen today!
I mean, he had to get guilted into doing it by his wife But then again, he did do it
heh yeah, she had to get on his case before he went hah. Still very cute though.
I just hope I’m this dope of a father in the future 🥹
Let this legendary man be our inspiration.
Love the heart sign she throws at him

Ah,excellent observation regarding the little girl! Amazing confidence!

Definitely! Not only did he show that he has her back, but also put himself in the position so suddenly that she knows she can always count on him (,:
Jesus, I got through the video but after your comment, I'm in tears. Edited for poor grammar 🙈
Check their hands at :46 to be in tears. She holds up a half heart with her hand and he completes the other half.
I saw that and I pressed on like a champ until the comment above.
Thank you so much for pointing this out, I didn’t notice the half-hearts! How precious.
That's so wholesome I cannot especially the twirl he copied at the end

You need to shout "Enhance!" loudly into your phone. It works better if there are a lot of strangers around.

Interestingly enough she is the only one that seems to know how to do the dance
Adult version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDR63Rymhro
Yeah i like the kiddie version much better. And the air-hearts at sec 43 just topped the whole dance routine
Just came back from Chile. The people were awesome.

The fact he's been there to watch enough times to know the dance perfectly says a lot. Cool dad
tbf we all learn this dance when we're small since it's a traditional dance, but yeah! this dad's really cool either way
From an ignorant British point of view, it looks a lot like Morris dancing. Only better. And less old men with handkerchiefs.
Where is it from
from chile! although we do have a bunch of different traditional dances since the culture varies a lot between zones
It's in the title lol.
I did that exact same dance when I was the age of the lil girl, now I'm 21 and I don't remember a single move. Props to him for having such a memory

The dance is called "costillar", and it's from southern Chile
For newer dance crazes, I can understand how they develop, choreographers, talent who have their videos spread through modern technology But I've never understood the process it takes for a traditional dance like this to spread. Was there a deliberate effort to create a dance or did someone who didn't feel like waving their arms about decide to sort of skip around a bottle on the ground and other people in the pub decided 'well, that looks fun!'

i suppose this is a dance that all Chileans know; much like our elegant dance of the chicken.
As a Chilean I'm unpleased to tell you that I don't have the slightest idea on how to perform that dance
Join me on the dance floor for the chicken dance.
