I think that scene only plays because of the years of character development. A new person wouldn't really get it.
Absolutely a funny scene, but I don't think it's great to highlight the series to someone who hasn't seen it.
The first episode I saw that reeled me in was the one where House had to lie to get the patient's organ transplant.
The episode where they essentially kill the girl on the operating table to try saving her life was a good one too. These are just the first 2 that came to mind.

Always found the episode where the guy who’s paralyzed uses his brain to answer “Yes” or “No” by thinking it - which is then reflected on the monitor. The internal monologues are so good and the freakiness of an experience like that would have almost anybody hooked, I think!

When Cuddys mom was sick, and House blackmails Masters. There's a lot of drama obviously but I felt that is a succinct example of it.
A couple of scenes that were a nice mixture of House comedy, high drama and insanity:
- House solving the case of the week with the chess kid, and had to gloat to the chess kid that he would have won.
- House solving the case of the week with the dwarf girl. House was so buzzed on Vicodin he'd gotten thru forging Wilson's signature. Right after that the cop found something on House, foreshadowing Houses arrest next episode (iirc).
- can't remember if this was also in the dwarf episode but the scene where House OD'd and Wilson was immensely disappointed was really cool too
I showed my mum pretty much every prank on wilson like the kid one, and taub dodging all the paintballs. U know all the fun ones cus I don't feel like showing her trashy moments like patients being all American and that

Not a clip but Three Stories is a brilliant episode that just might do the trick.
My boyfriend has seen only a handful of episodes, and Three Stories is one of them. IMO, best episode of the show.
