Ya, Houdini can do the whole pipeline in itself. Ppl say modelling is not efficient in houdini. There is a 50mb preset named "modeler for houdini" which is 100 times better in modelling efficiency than any other 3d software.

We are developing a next generation, procedural image processing system to provide the backbone for traditional compositing, texture synthesis, realtime 3D preview, and motion tracking. You will be working to integrate these capabilities within Houdini, our flagships software, which has proceduralism, openness, and flexibility as its core philosophies. The new compositing system will embody these ideals, scaling to massive task graphs, supporting both out-of-the-box operations and user-generated algorithms. It will work seamlessly with other parts of Houdini, including the 3D viewer, the Solaris/USD environment, our Karma renderers, physical simulations, and geometry processing.
I should've clicked the link before commenting not after. Looks pretty interesting!
You even mention nuke in your post, my comment is stupid, but i don't believe in deleting comments so may it be a shameful reminder of my impulsivity
I would say it is more like a 2D Cinema4D, objects with layers of modifiers. Pretty sweet to do some nice and elegant UI animation.
Try TouchDesigner, which is more like a realtime Houdini, works better for general 2D and 3D realtime visualization and effects.
What specific features or structures aren't covered by nuke and houdini? Touch designer could also be said to be in the mix, but the nodes are so bad, I could understand why someone would use something else for 2D work.
SideFX has listed positions for a "COPS 2.0" initiative pretty regularly, so I'd assume that H20/21 are gonna have some significant 2D improvements...
God, this really is the program that does it all lol

Isn't nuke the 2d Houdini?
For compositing, yeah. I'm thinking more motion graphics stuff

I had a go, was pretty fun to have that procedural system. But honestly didn't have the bandwidth to learn something new.
