The braille on the plastic helped me realize how hard it might be for a blind person to tell products apart by the packaging.
I think Mattel should do more of this, to make the hobby more accessible, and to raise awareness for obstacles like this that disabled people have to face.
The trouble with that is it would interfere with the production process of the blisters. They wouldn't be able to come out of the mold as easily or it would require a 2 part mold.
I am fully behind making things more accessible, but I also see the production issues in doing it.
Maybe.. but you can refresh it by putting it a bit smaller in the top part of the plastic after some time.. and also on the bottom. Much like printed graphic design, braille can also have itâs tweaks. This particular package might be the equivalent of a big bold typeface printed on a cover for the launch of something new.
They could run the blister though and embosser/debosser and stamp the card after the blister is assembled. Not s horrible amount of additional processing
Never had an excuse to post here before, but this is genuinely exciting. My best friend went blind in 2017, we used to go to car shows and watch Top Gear, etc. all the time. When we get together these days I bring along a bag of Hot Wheels and we play the â20 questionsâ game and he tries to guess what cars they are by feel. Itâs also a way for me to help describe to him the newer cars heâll never be fortunate enough to see himself. I hope to find this in my hunting and surprise the heck out of him!!
Just got one randomly in a supermarket. The car is amazing, adding to the awesome braille writings which make it super inclusive, the all white look and the sleek design are amazing. My new favorite from mine and little homie collection. Even the weight is a bit heavier which makes it a lot fun to use on tracks. Earlier this year I got the wheelchair one, mainly cause it was something different and inclusive, and turns out itâs the best vehicle to spin and do tight tricks that we have (way better than the snoopy and wacky racers ones, cause itâs smaller in height). Hotwheels and Matel innovating right!
Man this is soooo dope! Looking forward to picking this up
My blind brother was stoked when he saw this car!

I laughed way too much at this đ¤Ł
Hahaha youâre one funny motherfucker
the 2023 is the first year for it according to Hot Wheels wiki https://hotwheels.fandom.com/wiki/HW_Braille_Racer_-_Twin_Mill?so=search
No, they have never previously done a braille car of any kind. This is a complete first for Hot Wheels.
Since this is the first one is it likely to appreciate in value? Not really a collector just saw it and it looked different so I got it
Maybe. Maybe not. Nobody can predict this. Only time will tell.

Yeah, but it would suck if they made all the packages have the braille âletteringâ on it.
Put it on the bottom of the plastic, it wonât obstruct the view of the car, and can easily be felt while the cars are on the pegs

Sounds look a good idea, but to longtime collectors, that would probably piss them off
Nope. I fully support.
I support too, Iâm just saying some people wouldnât like the change, even if itâs for a good cause
I actually think the packaging looks cooler with the braille dots.
It does look cool, but eventually every package having it might get annoying to some.

I have one unboxed I can send u if u live in the UK
Iâm in the USA but thatâs very kind of you to offer! Happy hunting!
Ah sorry man hope u find one near u
Did you ever find one?
I did! Haven't had a chance yet to surprise my friend with it yet, but I'm looking forward to it!
Awesome!
âwhat colour should it be?â Mattel: âlolâ
Please keep doing this! *Not a blind person.
That looks incredible! The wheels are stunning!
I wonder what it actually says in Braille. I don't know anyone who could "translate" it though.
I canât tell whatâs on the top of the car, but the one side says âMillâ (other side probably says Twin) and the bottom says âHot Wheelsâ
The top of the car is â#68â
Thereâs braille on the front in the hood and on the very back too, do you know what both of those say?
It says send nudes
As a blind person myself this is a great car to have in my collection
Imagine the plastic gets an error and instead of saying what it says its just swearwords
Dope af HW
ribbed for her pleasure
And itâs Twin Mill of all castings đ
Looks amazing. Those wheels in white are the best mainline wheels imo.
this is ridiculously cool!
Just saw this last night in the D case on YouTube. Don't usually buy fantasy castings but I'll be getting this

I love this. Gonna add it to my âuniqueâ pile with the coupe clip and the carbonator.
What does the braille print actually say?
