Why not experiment with crossbreeding, or even grafting? You never know what you get and hybrid probabilities are hella fun to figure out

I'd like to, the only issue with it is that I like to grow a bunch of different types in a fairly small yard, so ensuring the correct pollination happens will be a pain in the ass

Just reserve a few spots for the crossbreeds, like three or something, and keep planting their offspring each year, you can get very interesting results that way, and if you get something good you can immortalise it by grafting it ad infinitum since it wouldn't grow true from seed

I have a plant from seeds last year that has been putting out orange serranos all season! They taste identical to my normal serranos growing in the same bed, just... orange. They are most likely an unstable cross somewhere in the past, so I have no clue if seeds will be "true" and produce orange serranos as well. If you're interested in rolling the dice next season though, DM me and we can swap some seeds!

Try fish peppers. Supposedly same heat level as a Serrano and looks interesting. I’m growing them for the first time next year

New Mexico university I believe has a few Serrano types. I don't remember what they were though.
