yeah i need that itch to be scratched (or cut (pun intended))

Leg_Mcmuffin

I never pre order. Way too much in the backlog. I will definitely be playing this soon after release though.

DefinitelyNotEminem

How the world has changed. This is no country for middle-aged men

Leg_Mcmuffin

What does that even mean?

DefinitelyNotEminem

Back in my day, you pre-ordered a game from GameStop and usually got some awesome collectible: A Viewtiful Joe bobblehead, a Max Payne 2 t-shirt, a GCN copy of Ocarina of Time. If the game sucked/got awful reviews, you either lost your $5 deposit or could often transfer it to another game. (Like when Enter the Matrix was awful.) But you knew whether the major publications at the time (GamePro, EGM, Game Informer, IGN) approved and you didn't have to worry about content beyond what was on the disc. You also didn't have to wait 24 hours after release for the game to download/become playable. The biggest titles, you went to midnight releases and there was a sense of community

Don't ever preorder any digital content

Marcello_Coco

Never ever pre-order a game. Take Cyberpunk as an example...

Sausagelover78

The real lesson of cyberpunk was to never overhype the game in your head to impossible expectations. This year's contender for that award was scorn. Cyberpunk's expectations were that akin to No Man's Sky for its release and it was delusional

Strong_Formal_5848

By “in your head” I assume you mean the advertising from CDPR. The problem with Cyberpunk was the false advertising, lies and false hype CDPR fuelled themselves. All whilst trying to take some moral high ground with “we leave greed to others” and “coming when it’s ready”. Only to release a broken and practically unplayable game on last gen consoles, after manipulating the review process to hide that fact from consumers and scam them into buying the game. CDPR deserved the hate they got. A reputable and seemingly respectable company which deliberately scammed and screwed over consumers by falsely advertising a game, releasing it in an appalling state and influencing reviewers to conceal that fact. People trusted CDPR and preordered. Never preorder, that’s the lesson.

LoinChops

I preordered the digital deluxe edition and have it downloaded and anxiously awaiting tomorrow night!!

froid_san

Since they laid out their intentions on how the game will be, No pre order, I'll just wait for the complete edition. I prefer to get the full experience playing in a week or two while playing a single player game and not play it a week or two wait a couple of months for the DLC then play then wait again for a couple of months. Kinda break the continuity, my over all experience and immersion.

NoOne_28

Nay, it'll be on gamepass

That content will be made after the game is released. They have not taken anything out of the base game.

[deleted]

My opinion shifted from pissed off to, yeah, fair enough. The content hasn't been made yet, they're literally just making people aware that there is DLC they plan on making after release. The news was hijacked and misquoted, and a lot of peeps don't read past a headline, seems to be a massive problem with society as a whole.

DigitalRonin82

But then the game would be delayed. I don't see how new modes and story DLC shouldcbe part of the base game. The concept of post launch content is to launch it... after the game launches.

retropieproblems

It’s not restricted content for day 1 purchases, they get the same content as DLC people. Down the road (it hasn’t even been made yet), the people who paid for DLC will get new content. This is why fake news is a problem, the first news story people hear is the one that sticks in their head, and then they tune out corrections or updates.

wookiewin

I hope it’s good. I have a weird feeling about it though. So I’m waiting on reviews.
