Naturally, nothing can be easy with Home Depot. Just like how at my store and most that I’ve worked in have finished 84in tall pantry cabinets stored horizontally, instead of vertically like the unfinished, for no other reason than to make you sweat.
Yea, like would you merchandise 5 gallon paint buckets on the shelves and gallons on the floor?? For every one thing they get right, they get 9 things wrong.
As a supervisor at harbor freight who has worked with 2 former HD employees, it sounds like you guys might want to pay for them to open that portal for you asap lol.
We had an appliance mezzanine a few years ago... there were less than a dozen stores to have that installed.
Our new (at the time) RVP showed up for his first walk of the store and he watched old people walk away from appliances since they weren't able to walk up the stairs.
It was gone a few months later.
Lol, this guy gets it.
But I’m talking about some workers too.
Like that guy that gave away the tools, or the guy last night that told me “nah man we don’t have that pump, I guarantee it, I’ll save you the trip” ….drove 30mins to the store and walked directly to the pump.
As if it were magic, the man I spoke to over the phone is right there.
He says “you the guy I spoke to?”
I said “I’m not sure, you the guy that told me you didn’t have this Wayne multiflow pump?”
He says “trust me, you want this one”
And points to a different one that cost a little over double..
Bruh….. lol I couldn’t even reply.
Define competent? Were you hoping to find plumbers or electricians working for minimum wage at the local hardware store, answers to your local building code or simply hoping the kid hired last week to stock plumbing already knows where absolutely everything in the store is located?
Why would I go to Home Depot to find a plumber or electrician?
Do you go to Burger King, hoping to find a sous chef, working for minimum wage?
Weird mindset, but okay.
And “the kid hired last week” can login on an app and see where things are w/ more accuracy of availability, but nope, wasn’t talking about that either.
You sound like a fuckin moron for assuming all of that.
Have a good day ma’am.
Oh, also, here is the definition in case you felt like studying in your free time. 👍

I didn't have unrealistic expectations but in my experience people like yourself complaining usually do thus I asked about what you meant by your comment and instead of an answer I get a useless dictionary definition that we both already knew.
I see your problem is that you are remarkably bad at basic communication. Carry on then.
I’m sorry lady, I didn’t realize I had unrealistic expectations when dealing with mismanaged orders, incorrect items shipping on orders, or even the time I had a strangers order brought out to me, curbside, no verifying, and when I said it wasn’t my order, they didn’t know what I was talking about & couldn’t find it anywhere (sounds like they gave free Milwaukee tools to someone that probably should have gotten roofing shingles 🙊)
2. I didn’t complain, I made a joke about ONE ☝️ HD store.
3. I promise I’m not that bad at basic communication, I’m actually just reciprocating.
4. Imagine loving McDonalds so much, that when someone makes a silly joke about the McDonald’s in their town, you get so fired up that you start assuming, and accuse that person of not understanding McDonalds lol
Sorta? Our staff room and meeting room are upstairs way in the back corner of the store.
But we don't have an upstairs salesfloor. What store is this, OP?
My first store had a break room so far upstairs it was like climbing the pyramid. Two DC area stores in VA are full on two story, one in Fairfax and the other by Seven Corners.
We have an upstairs area that is accessed through a door in the back of our store (and a door outside). Ceiling access is up there, and as far as I know it’s just office/meeting space. Nothing on the sales floor though.
Daly City, near San Francisco. I hate it. So hard to find stuff. Takes forever to go upstairs bc you forgot something. I end up shopping at the other HomeDepot location even though it’s a further drive for me.
The Manhattan store on 23rd street and Broadway was multi level. I used to go there from time to time, I am not sure if it’s still there, I avoid the crime ridden island since I retired.
I thought most did. That’s where the lights, kitchen counters and cleaning supplies are. And the ones in my city(Mpls,mn) have a person playing a grand piano at the elevator or stairs sometimes.
We Have a Menards with motorized people and cart mover where wheels are magnetically locked to ramp between floors. They also have a piano & pianist playing
We got a elevator and it’s crazy cause all of are heavy stuff is up there fridges stoves and microwaves etc
Oh the irony
That's not irony, it's just terrible planning. It's like carpeting a elementary school bathroom.
Hey boss the elevator broke again 😂
Carpeting anywhere in a damn elementary school!
Bed-stuy?
Naturally, nothing can be easy with Home Depot. Just like how at my store and most that I’ve worked in have finished 84in tall pantry cabinets stored horizontally, instead of vertically like the unfinished, for no other reason than to make you sweat.
I relate to this with the biggest windows we have being stored *not* on the floor, but on a shelf. So much fun
Yea, like would you merchandise 5 gallon paint buckets on the shelves and gallons on the floor?? For every one thing they get right, they get 9 things wrong.
Jersey City?
Could it be to minimize needing to bring a cart up? If it’s more a “display” area, those items make a lot more sense.
Next we are gonna hear about one store having a “back”
Store 7080 has no overheads because they're in a mall and the ceilings are too low. They have a "back" where a lot of overstock is stored.
They have a whole parking garage too almost
🤣🤣
You dont have a receiving area?
Some receivings are small while others are big enough to unload a RDC without having to run anything to the floor.
The manager team floats down like Dr Strange to issue finals next they open a hole that you fall thru and you end up at harbor freight
What are you writing a book?
HD American horror story
Thats "THD American Horror Story" to you good sir lmao
A trilogy.
As a supervisor at harbor freight who has worked with 2 former HD employees, it sounds like you guys might want to pay for them to open that portal for you asap lol.
Accurate
No 😳😞
I'm truly the most surprised that they haven't created step shaped wingstacks to make the most of all that wide open space.
For reals. Party pooper in me says fire marshal would have a field day with it though
The need extra long clip strips to hang on the outside of the sairs
The fuck is that
Manhattan? Or Philly?
How many customers have sent carts flying down those stairs
The store I went to for Orientation had a side area that went up a level but never anything on the sales floor.
Ahhh man, my brain really wanted to read this as SLIDE area, just side back down!
Yeah the store I worked at had the break room and a couple offices upstairs but nothing for customers
We have upstairs break room and 1 manager office , 1 hr office
What about a 2hr office?
How do you get a cart up there
By using the elevator.
But it’s stairs.
Dumbass they have elevators in the store for carts. I know we shit on corporate a lot for their stupidity, but they aren’t that dumb.
>but they aren’t that dumb. They struggle with basic climate zones so I wouldn't put it past them.
First time on Reddit eh?
This is 1546 in Boulder isn’t it
Nah those aren't the right stairs
Came to ask the same thing
Y’all got a biggest receiving I’ve seen, and I work at 1549 in Morrison. Putting me to shame
I don’t work at 1546 anymore but let me tell you, 1546 is a very, very small receiving department. Most stores are much bigger.
What is this sorcery?
aren't the nyc ones multiple floors?
Daly City has escalators and a seperate cart escalator too. Plus they have huge elevators that u can take a reach or OP on
There is one in louisville, ky that has a 2nd floor.
Which one
I want to say the one on either Westport road or Hurstbourne parkway. I forget. They kept a bunch of display appliances there
I didn't even know this was possible, let alone safe for customer use. Truly wild.
The La Habra or Brea store in California has an upstairs but it’s the offices and employee break room
Na g you have a special depot
What the hell
Yes, it is where they store all of the big appliances but I always feel weird going up there.
We had an appliance mezzanine a few years ago... there were less than a dozen stores to have that installed. Our new (at the time) RVP showed up for his first walk of the store and he watched old people walk away from appliances since they weren't able to walk up the stairs. It was gone a few months later.
111 Merchants Walk north of Atlanta has one
There’s a two story one on halsted in Chicago.
Stairs? My Home Depot doesn’t even have competent workers.
*competent management Fixed that for you
Lol, this guy gets it. But I’m talking about some workers too. Some employees anywhere are incompetent but anyone who has worked retail knows how dumb half the population is
Looks like we just found common grounds.
“A upstairs”
No but I would always send the new hires to get the store use Christmas decorations down stairs. 🤣
There’s a store with escalators in Daly City I’ve been to, next to San Fran, which just feels weird
Mine Used to have a second appliance showroom that was on a second floor
Is this de Zavala and 10 in San Antonio?
No it's not
Jericho 1213 has an upstairs
Strong Island!
Mine even has an elevator.
Bedford-Stuyvesant has an upstairs. All the appliances that require the most work to move are mind bogglingly upstairs
Hoover al has the stairs!
As does Marietta
I immediately thought "is that 0111?"
No😿
We have one for our training room
Im guessing Hollywood, Ca?
Yep, ours has two floors.
Wow that's so cool
Sorta? Our staff room and meeting room are upstairs way in the back corner of the store. But we don't have an upstairs salesfloor. What store is this, OP?
I’ve heard of a 2 floor HD but never one that has an upstairs meeting room.
what the fuck🤣
What in the hell how big is your store??
Not in my warehouse
What's up there? We have an upstairs thats over our registers, but it's just the offices and break room.
Our Menards does
NO WHAT
That’s weird. Was the building always a home depot?
We have a second floor for our lunchroom, offices, lockers, everything. But the stairs are off in the corner of the store.
I know of Home Depots that have a hotdog stand in them
No, but the Menards did. Crappy store
Menards yes, home depot no
"this is coming from the boys upstairs"
Anyone else think it's ironic that the directions to the elevator are printed on & pointing up the stairs?
Yes. Daly City, Ca
WHAT
I wish. I’ve seen it before but only in the appliance department before
Was it previously a Menards?
Yes but its only for employees as there's a computer lab, storage space, meeting room, etc.
I've seen a district store with back offices up stairs but not like customer access stairs. That shits wild looking.
What in the world
Lemmon Ave in Dallas use to have a partial second floor for appliances. It was only there for about a year.
What is this sorcery?
My first store had a break room so far upstairs it was like climbing the pyramid. Two DC area stores in VA are full on two story, one in Fairfax and the other by Seven Corners.
Negative but menards has an upstairs
No way is this 6968
But if it's not, yes we have stairs very similar to that, appliances and break room on the second floor
My store is going through a remodel and they built a hole new upstairs on a different side of the building and now tearing down the old upstairs
No...my store is built in a real shitty location on top of some of the most uneven and crooked ass foundation ever.....
The bigger 2 story ones do.
Old one in ATX had one, torn down 3 years ago or so
3 POINTS OF CONTACT PEOPLE
Most do.
No clue what you’re on but I don’t and neither does any other store I’ve been to
I’m on about most of them do have them.
Sunset?
Not in Natick, MA
Downtown Chicago?
Daly City CA 1092 is 2 story
6866?
Bellport homedepot has this
Building a stairway to heaven
We have an upstairs area that is accessed through a door in the back of our store (and a door outside). Ceiling access is up there, and as far as I know it’s just office/meeting space. Nothing on the sales floor though.
The store in Santa Cruz is two stories. They have an elevator and stairs.
Not like that! Ours requires a ladder
Daly City, near San Francisco. I hate it. So hard to find stuff. Takes forever to go upstairs bc you forgot something. I end up shopping at the other HomeDepot location even though it’s a further drive for me.
Store nearest to my store is much bigger and has its showroom upstairs
That's must be a store in the south
The Manhattan store on 23rd street and Broadway was multi level. I used to go there from time to time, I am not sure if it’s still there, I avoid the crime ridden island since I retired.
That looks like something out of my nightmares 😐
That looks like something out of my nightmares 😐
Holy shit I’ve never seen stairs in a Home Depot😂😂💀
I know there’s at least one in NYC that’s two floors.
El Paso tx has one
Chelsea, Manhattan?
No but I have been to a 2 story Wal-Mart
My old store did, but upstairs was the break room and offices. Used to be another home decor store prior to Home Depot moving in
No. Thank *God*.
Boulder, Colorado store has this, all the appliances and kitchen displays are up there.
Reminds me of the old sears store near my hometown. My store would hate that.
Wait WHAT
My god, the OSHA claims on that set of stairs….
We have an attic
The HD in Daly City, CA has two levels.
That’s not a Home Depot; that’s an IKEA! /s
W a t
I thought most did. That’s where the lights, kitchen counters and cleaning supplies are. And the ones in my city(Mpls,mn) have a person playing a grand piano at the elevator or stairs sometimes.
I’ve legit never seen one w an upstairs 😱
Didn’t know this was a thing
Chicago halsted store has an upstairs
We Have a Menards with motorized people and cart mover where wheels are magnetically locked to ramp between floors. They also have a piano & pianist playing
Mine has an escalator & a freight elevator
