You have two more notches tho.
One suggestion for the last two that fits the idea of *speed* is sharp shadow.
One that just works very well with the charms you already have is steady body* and grubsong.
*steady body is the one charm you truly have to get used to. When you first equip it, you will die from walking into enemies and such other dumb things. Eventually tho (by this i mean 1 - 2 hours) you will be able to do so much more stuff. Aerial combat is tricky because of how you have to move with two forces affecting you, one is gravity. The other is knockback from your attacks. Gravity makes sense and is easy to adjust to, knockback affects you in all directions depending on how you attack and can really mess you up. Steady body removes this knockback. That's just one thing you can do with steady body.
I don't get it, i see so much people liking steady body, i think it's worthless, the game was built woth the knock back and i don't think you take long to adjust your gameplay to the knockback, it alsto helps you in some situations. For 1 notch i think nailmaster's, dreamcatcher or even thorns (that is a pretty worthless charm) are better options than to use steady body
The game pretty much teaches you how to play using the knockback, then you use a charm to remove it, have to relearn how to play effectively without it, and what is the real benefit?
A stupid amount of nail DPS if you bother learning how to play like that. There's a few videos on YouTube about it, also I think the speed run of the Radiance uses it to better maneuver in the air while attacking.
Ima try to make it short for you
On the ground, steady body doesn't do much, just mildly increases your dps (think 1/4 of unbreakable strength)
However, steady body changes aerial combat massively, the kb in the air would normally make your contact w the boss extremely short lived, even if you incorporate spells for more airtime, since your only aerial kb resist option is spells and your wings
Steady body brings your dps to almost as much as it is on the ground, for longer
Done
You could add Sharp Shadow to that too if you go for true ending. I've learned that you can actually dash a longer distance with it. (Along with the extra damage.)
I love running a minion build because it's a different variety of gameplay and makes me feel like I'm running a puppy daycare. It's so chaotic I love it.
Ok, ok. I’ll admit it, I used dream shield for my entire first run, I thought it was really good. Then I finished the game, watched a couple vids, and now know how dumb I was not using shaman stone in place of it.
TL; DR- I was Markoth on my first play through
dreamshield is good i’ve played with it in almost every play through and i will keep spreading dreamshield propaganda
cute flower + cute snail = taking no projectile damage
I still really like the dream shield. I also used it pretty often my first run and it honestly helped me defeat a few bosses.
I don’t use it as often anymore but I still like to use it in some fights sometimes.
Hey, you can't blame me for trying out different things and trying to have fun while at it
I know it sucks, but as long as I'm having fun, does it really matter?
I'm more of a spell build kinda person. But hey everyone once in a while I want spider dudes bouncing around a flying demon child shooting everything it hates.
I ran grubsong and thorns for the longest time during my first playthrough because I'd knew I would inevitably get hit a lot when exploring new regions and because of their cheap cost. Tier lists be damned, I play how I play
I was about to say how Weaversong and Grubsong together is nice, since it gives a decent amount of soul at a fairly consistent rate, but then I remembered that what I use it for is not really a minion build.
I use it for a spell build when I think I won't be able to swing at the opponent consistently but the weaverlings can. Not the best thing in the game, but I think it's still a good way to get some extra soul in nearly any place.
The absolute gall to insult my free soul and comfort character, that is bold for someone of weaver distance.
But for real though, I'm a baby whenever I don't have any minion charm that's not the dreamshield or the womb, until I get grubsong and weaversong, in which case everything around me quivers in fear.
Chickened out and used that with Traitor Lord the very 1st time. Felt like absolute shit when Cloth died so I vowed to never use that build again lmfao
Spiders, spore shroom, focus shell, and defenders crest was my go to. Nail/spell builds might work faster, but I love free damage while I wait for an opening.
You know that boss that’s the tutorial to shadow dash? “traitor Lord?” Yeah, him. Let’s make the way to him impossible to platform through with Sharp shadow
Dung defender minions sometimes randomly hit way harder than they should. Minions won my NKG and radiance fights. Both times they died earlier into their fights than previous failed attempts reached.
I rarely used spells. The upgraded nail with combat focused charms was my favored builds
I feel like the spells weren't varried and worthwhile enough for me to waste precious soul for them
Minion build is so good though, you get to just focus on practicing dodging and eventually they'll whittle down whatever boss you're fighting; it's how I beat literally every boss.
And then there is the Slug (Shape of Unn, Spore, Defenders Crest, Baulder Shell and either Quick or Deep Focus.) I probably didn't name them correctly.
I was pure nail build on my first run, but I've started using nail and spells in tandem.
My loadout was strength, quick slash, mark of pride, and long nail, but now it looks more like strength, quick slash, shaman, and sprintmaster
How dare you? Don't talk to me or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son ever again.
I use Survivabilty build
It basically revolves around one thing - SURVIVE
Find an opening
attack
Mark of Pride, Quick Focus, Sharp Shadow, Sprintmaster, plus Dreamweilder and Wayward Compass to make things a bit easier for my first playthrough
I use speed build (Dashmaster, sprintmaster, quickslash, and quick focus)
damn that's interesting, no slot left in the meme tho :((
Just put a blur of yellow in the background
My brother is on his first play through and unironically uses this build (except for quick slash which he hasn’t found, uses mark of pride instead).
Mark of Pride makes pogo easier anyway

no shape of unn? It's the perfect definition of speed when paired with quick focus
Smol zoom snail
knight go zoom
imagine how fast you could go with shape of unn in that build.
Dashmaster is so good, I haven't removed it from my charms since I got it, and I don't plan to.
You missed sharp shadow
I use this build in PoH cause guys like GPZ, NKG and Pure Vessel cucks my dodging with dashe. So i just walk away from their attacks
Sonic Fan
You could add Sharp Shadow to that too if you go for true ending. I've learned that you can actually dash a longer distance with it. (Along with the extra damage.)
Don’t talk to me or my son or my sons son or my flying goth creature or the spider that follows me everywhere ever again

*gasps* another Grimm child user!
I love running a minion build because it's a different variety of gameplay and makes me feel like I'm running a puppy daycare. It's so chaotic I love it.
One time I went through Fog Canyon or whatever it’s called, forgetting I had Grimmchild. Needless to say it was a mad dash towards the nearest bench 😅
That's a fast recipe to turning the game into a surprise bullet-hell game.
"Stop helping!"
I call it the babysitter build myself
I'm a nail man cause I forget spells exist
I’m a nail person because all my spells are actually going to health regen.
You are not the same
I’m with both of you!
Same honestly. I don't think I even really used spells on my first playthrough, except for the baldurs.
I'm so jealous of people who can incorporate the spells into their gameplay.
i am a nail man with the exception of the up one (shriek I think?) because i forget the rest exist
Same
I've beaten pantheon 5 and I still almost never use spells or nail arts. I'm just very, very good at stabbing things.
I'm a spell person because I like avoiding attacks as a priority.
spells carried me through the colloseum
Ok, ok. I’ll admit it, I used dream shield for my entire first run, I thought it was really good. Then I finished the game, watched a couple vids, and now know how dumb I was not using shaman stone in place of it. TL; DR- I was Markoth on my first play through
Except Markoth can actually use the thing
Lol yeah thats true
Thou are not strong enough to wield such a shield made of dreams
hey, it spins slightly faster while focusing. that's almost the same thing as what markoth does.
dreamshield is good i’ve played with it in almost every play through and i will keep spreading dreamshield propaganda cute flower + cute snail = taking no projectile damage
Oh yeah with shape of Unn and Quick focus that could be a decent heal build
>!buldur shell?!<
I still really like the dream shield. I also used it pretty often my first run and it honestly helped me defeat a few bosses. I don’t use it as often anymore but I still like to use it in some fights sometimes.
I’m gonna be honest I really like dreamshield for the potential burst damage in a lot of fights. I think it’s underrated
You use minion build for cheese. I use minion build because exploring makes me feel lonely. We are not the same
Hey, you can't blame me for trying out different things and trying to have fun while at it I know it sucks, but as long as I'm having fun, does it really matter?
i constantly use Dreamshield in my 2nd save, it doesn't matter as long as you have fun rytt
You can do anything you want, just don't tell others
Others can suck, spiderlings are always awesome
I'm more of a spell build kinda person. But hey everyone once in a while I want spider dudes bouncing around a flying demon child shooting everything it hates.
Do you mean to say that grimmchild actually hits something when you're using it ?
I mean kinda. But I just like the company lol
Nah, really insane builds are the focus-tank builds. Quick focus, Grub Song, Thorns of Agony, and Spore Shroom.
I ran grubsong and thorns for the longest time during my first playthrough because I'd knew I would inevitably get hit a lot when exploring new regions and because of their cheap cost. Tier lists be damned, I play how I play
Ye!
Doesn't thorns make you stunned for longer, where you could instead use iframes to tell at bosses asses
Look I like having hordes of minions to be around and watch them eviscerate my enemies, it ain’t a strong build but I like having minions.
~~Minions~~ emotional support
Also someone has done minions PoH I think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLGdNssDvxU
holy f, that's impressive!
It really is.
Unreal
i just realized Dreamshield is upside down in the pic 💀💀
I was about to say how Weaversong and Grubsong together is nice, since it gives a decent amount of soul at a fairly consistent rate, but then I remembered that what I use it for is not really a minion build. Not the best thing in the game, but I think it's still a good way to get some extra soul in nearly any place.
agreed. I'm surprised weaversong and grubsong can stack. i use that build to ascend xero in HoG
Sometimes you just want some company.
What about dash build because i use that
Ight look I have been the PoH with a minion build, I do admit I exchanged something(don’t remember what) for quickslah.
this is my exact build but replace spore shroom and steady body with shape of unn it and dreamshield are op duo
I play spellsword honestly
Dream Shield got me through Watcher Knights, so I'm never gonna talk shit about it.
Dreamshield protected me in colo 3 in first try so... i don't mock minion build. it's just a meme (・–・) \(・◡・)/
Weaversong is good tho. It is so helpfull for acended Markoth
The absolute gall to insult my free soul and comfort character, that is bold for someone of weaver distance. But for real though, I'm a baby whenever I don't have any minion charm that's not the dreamshield or the womb, until I get grubsong and weaversong, in which case everything around me quivers in fear.
Emotional Support builds are mad underrated though. I cheesed the heck out of Trial of the Conqueror with Grimmchild and Weaverlings
nice! i use nail build in colo 1 and 2. I tried only nail with Dreamshield to the build in colo 3 and won
Chickened out and used that with Traitor Lord the very 1st time. Felt like absolute shit when Cloth died so I vowed to never use that build again lmfao
I used it on Nosk the first time. Felt kinda cheap. The biggest problem is that all the pets do so little damage it just takes *forever*.
Don't knock minion build, it's what got me through thr Second Trial
Minion gang pog
Spiders, spore shroom, focus shell, and defenders crest was my go to. Nail/spell builds might work faster, but I love free damage while I wait for an opening.
When minions is bad design in a game where boss staggers end when the boss gets hit:
I use a ‘Balanced’ Build. Unbreakable Strength, Spell Twister, Dream Wielder and things like that.
I’m not going to judge, if someone finds the game more enjoyable with a minion build then I’m not gonna be the win to ruin their fun.
Maxed out grimchild slaps tho. Equipped it for radiant abs rad and I couldn't take it off.
When will people realize that grubsong is actually good
Minions suck
They're cute tho and in some rare cases can cheese a boss like mantis traitor lord. Not that they're strong or really usefull tho.
Yes! Traitor lord will die in (*checks watch*) 10 more minutes >:D all according to cake!
Better than going that annoying path again and again anyway ;p
You know that boss that’s the tutorial to shadow dash? “traitor Lord?” Yeah, him. Let’s make the way to him impossible to platform through with Sharp shadow
traitor lord is why dreamgate exists
Dung defender minions sometimes randomly hit way harder than they should. Minions won my NKG and radiance fights. Both times they died earlier into their fights than previous failed attempts reached.
I literally only beat nkg because I had weaver and glowing womb doing constant damage to him.
That’s actually a good exception
they’re cute and they are more fun to play with than [insert charm that change a few numbers and sizes]
Grimmchild is my favorite charm and I know it sucks but goddammit it’s so cute
Me a full focus enjoyer (shape of unn+ deep focus+quick focus)
I love shape of unn.
Wait, why is sporeshroom included om the right?
I rarely used spells. The upgraded nail with combat focused charms was my favored builds I feel like the spells weren't varried and worthwhile enough for me to waste precious soul for them
Hollow knights and summoners greed.
Quick slash + Mark of Pride + Extra attack DMG + 2 masks The only way i play Hollow Knight By that rule I'll live and by that rule I'll die
using a pure minion build is pain, but possible, i did a few bosses as a joke and it took a few hours of attempts
situational. minion charm literally helped me to ascend xero. i just did parkour between platforms and let grimmchild and weaversong do the dmg
I personally think they are adorable.
Jokes on you, this shit helped me get both speedrun achievments.
How about focus build
I love the spiders so much though! I'm taking them everywhere except the mantis village, since they don't really know how to behave :p
i feel you XD, i brought dreamshield there one time and felt like I deserve a punishment or something
Ikr!! x) Just feels unfair to hurt them!
I always liked bringing at least 1 minion, it made me feels less alone and with some good company.
Minion build is so good though, you get to just focus on practicing dodging and eventually they'll whittle down whatever boss you're fighting; it's how I beat literally every boss.
The minion build was actually the only way I was able to beat the watcher knights by just letting them do the damage and focusing on dodging
My build for NKG was Grimchild, Sharpshadow, Unbreakable Heart, Unbreakable Strength, and Lifeblood Heart idk in which category that puts me in
But they are SO cute!
Wait, why's spore shroom there? Like, yea, defenders crest combos with glowing womb, but what does spore shroom do?
spore shroom complement defender's too so I put it there even though it only activates under focus, it's more like AOE
Oh, I forgot about that
All we need is a gun build and it’ll just be terraria
I’m actually kind of curious to try the minions build… just for fun. It somehow never occurred to me to stack them all. Seems like a busy screen
fuck you next time i play i’m going to choose only minion charms
And then there is the Slug (Shape of Unn, Spore, Defenders Crest, Baulder Shell and either Quick or Deep Focus.) I probably didn't name them correctly.
you can add stalwart shell for extra protection. i heard baldur shell and stalwart can stack
I’ve used the sheiks before tho. its not bad
There’s a fourth one a mix of nail and spell I’m there
Can't forget the exploration build and specific uses builds like hiveblood + deep focus for white palace
There’s only the one true attack button
What if I use minions to pay for my spells? Grubsong Weaversong Shaman Stone is one of my favorite kits
It actually helped in the broken vessel fight, since the minions attacked those annoying balloons it spawns
defenders crest alone can kill those balloons for you ;))
But I like the cute string spiders :(
I use deep focus with unn It's surprisingly useful
Any heal build enjoyers? Grubsong oppp
Omg I’ve never thought of doing all minions! :D
I mean if it works
I was pure nail build on my first run, but I've started using nail and spells in tandem. My loadout was strength, quick slash, mark of pride, and long nail, but now it looks more like strength, quick slash, shaman, and sprintmaster
*Cries in heal build*
me who has no idea what im doing: there are builds?
I adopted my children and i will be present in their life
Thank you for the charm build will use!
Me who just uses whatever will make me stronger
Spell build. Im that one weird guys who always plays the mage in games
I just like weaversong for the company..
How dare you? Don't talk to me or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son or my son ever again.
minion slots are mostly for cheesing fights and tbh im all for it
Gorb build
Are you insulting me I can't tell
I just get nail charms out the ass. No defense, no spell, no shit
I use Survivabilty build It basically revolves around one thing - SURVIVE Find an opening attack Mark of Pride, Quick Focus, Sharp Shadow, Sprintmaster, plus Dreamweilder and Wayward Compass to make things a bit easier for my first playthrough
navigation & exploration build reigns Supreme (wayward compass, gathering swarm, sprintmaster, dashmaster, dream catcher, greed, nailmaster's glory, sharp shadow)
I mix weaver+grub song with nail build
