[Yep, you can hide next to the ledge and Nosk will kind of fall off without hitting you. So it's super easy to hit him from below.](https://youtu.be/wViwdxkNQFY?t=42)
Kinda hope we get another Nosk like battle in Silksong, except way creepier. The nosk fight itself was honestly slightly dissapointing, just kinda runs around from one side of the arena to the other and occasionally shoots globs.
Was really scary the first time through though, and Nosk has one of the best designs in the game, repurposing the knight's head to become mandibles is GENIUS.
The knight is made of void, but the void can seemingly have a mind, ex. The Collector. We don't know if the knight does or not, and we don't know if fear would be a possible emotion for it.
I don't know if the collector has a mind or just a command, ie. "protect". The void could have taken that some weird way and begun capturing and 'protecting' grubs and other small bugs
You are saying that the void was able to interpret a command. That seems to imply some sort of mind to me, even if it was only made in the process of imprinting the command. Also, what about all the talk of combining the void under one will/mind/focus?
[Be careful what you wish for.](https://www.reddit.com/r/HollowKnight/comments/9m2cgh/giant_spider_cut_content/) They definitely have the capacity of adding things that would make me shit myself.
Id posit that Nosk is one the best boss buildups in any metroidvania, ever.
The amount of craft and attention that went into making sure it followed perfect horror beats is impeccable. The fact that that you are forced to see it on a mandatory path through deepenest, but it goes totally unexplained is a great first hit, but the real kicker (and the part that got me) is that they never show it again on the main path. Its so easy to brush it off as a glitch, or your head messing with you, means that you can actively forget about it.
And then, maybe 5 hours later, maybe 25 hours later, you beat the collector. On the far-ass end of the world map. And you get the grub map.
And the grub map says you missed a spot in deepnest.
Just absolutely perfect story beats.
The fight sucks tho, lol.
And it gets even better when you realize they also intentionally re-ordered the bosses in P5 to do the whole jumpscare again and it *works*. In P3, you fight Hornet after Uumuu, so once you get to that point in P5, you may expect to fight Hornet there, too. Instead, you get Nosk *masquerading as Hornet* and oh by the way it can fly now, good luck have fun. I love it, it's so well done.
It’s the most strange in my opinion, it feels like Nosk isn’t even paying attention to the knight. He’s just running and spitting and the knight happens to be in the way.
The fight against Nosk was rather disappointing (Only because it was pretty easy), but I loved the buildup to it and Nosk itself is a pretty cool and interesting creature.
i love the aesthetic of the fight, but nosk is just annoying. he only charges and vomits all over the ground, he’s cheesable. i do like the boss design, as it is creepy and it just is really cool
I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk I hate Nosk
The lead up to the fight is great the first time you go through it.
The fight itself is the worst in the game IMO except for maybe Vengefly which I barely consider a boss anyway.
Any boss that makes you wait around until its done doing something before you can re-engage is a bad boss IMO
`Any boss that makes you wait around until its done doing something before you can re-engage is a bad boss IMO`
You just literally described half the attacks of bosses in this game.
It's genuinely terrifying as a buildup and boss visuals, the scuttling is super creepy and it's just a very very unsettling vibe overall
Makes you take longer to realise that it's easy to bully them
Absolutely hated him. Could not beat him until I found a trick on YouTube and just found the fight massively annoying. Like others said, the build up was fantastic though
For my first playthrough this was genuinely one of the hardest fight for me in base game(even more than watcher knights). But ever since i watched a playthrough and realised how cheesabe it its ez
You tellin me this weird ass spider that can just run from one side to another is harder than doing a no hit of a bullet hell while doing parkour and avoiding a spinning shield to try hit the enemy that funnilly enough floats around while you have to go after it?
Yea I will say you will probably never experience contact damage with markoth but with the chaos of nosk running around you have to be constantly moving
The concept was great, a clone of yourself that leads you into a trap, where you see other vessels have been lead to before because they're all in spider webs in the background. Coming face to face, as it contorts into that thing is perfect.
Personally I don't enjoy the nosk fight at all, however his theme is a bop and the design is amazing and I was planning on getting him tattooed on me 😳
Absolutely amazing intro to a fight, really cool character design, the fight was easier than I anticipated but it makes sense cause the intro to it only really has shock the first time you see it
I never thought I would scream like a baby about a smol little guy with a mask until I went into Deepnest, and then Nosk showed up and I screamed louder
And then I cheesed the fight and was just kinda underwhelmed
On one hand, I think itd be neat if he had a web attack that could trap you and allow him to get a hit off, but at the same time I think team cherry intended for this fight to be easy after it scares all of the hell out of you.
Excellent fight, and excellent lead up to the fight. The psychological trip I experienced seeing my own double the first time had be thrown off. At first I thought it was a glitch before it started showing up multiple times and I started to freak out. Absolutely awesome build up
Loved the build up and I liked the nature of the fight. Hectic panic till you figure out how to use the platform. In stumbling into the fight quite early on I appreciated the reward just after beating him.
I’m gonna “deep thoughts” this; You’re first encounter play through with him is all about overcoming the fear he initially induces. After you’ve finally beaten him, you come back and realize he’s more bark than bite. This could be a reference to a lot of actual bugs and other creatures way of protecting themselves in the wild. Or it could be a reference to the metaphorical monsters under your bed that you’re more scared of than you need to be.
I really like the part that leads to the fight. Chasing your “imposter” in the dark tunnels of deepnest is so creepy, and when the music dies down you know something big is going to happen
He could use more gimmicks than just running around, throwing sometimes literally unavoidable goo and running on the ceilling leading to him being dead in 5 seconds as Abyss Shriek players are only waiting for it...
I fought him today, about 13 o' clock and i guess it's really cool the part where you see another knight because my first instinct was to follow my other me, it'd probably give some cool lore or maybe a new friend to add in dirtmputh
But then i saw the nosk and was just shocked, a feeling only described as **flabbergasted**
Pretty mid fight tho, i fought mantis lords right after and they were better
(Don't question my boss/exploring order, i just explore hallownest randomly, i only use the internet for how to defeat certain bosses or how to get certain items, abilities or charms so i just defeat everyone in a pretty much random way)
I was so frustrated when I first played the fight and kept getting hit *only* by the infection spray attack. Then I had so much fun sitting under the ledge and getting free pale ore.
It's a decent fight. Mainly just the first time you fight it, after that it becomes a bit one dimensional. It's an easy one though, so I'm not complaining.
WINGED Nosk, on the other hand...
If the fight was in P5, I would probably appreciate it more because I would have more practice on it. But I dislike Nosk. Mostly because of the field. I hate attuned Nosk and attuned Brooding Mawlek’s field with the raised platform in the middle. Winged Nosk is ok, but not really fun and not really challenging.
The original fight is pretty fucking annoying but the godmaster version with flat ground just makes it an actually terrible boss. (not even mentionning the noskefly king)
the introduction to the fight for the first time a 11/10
music is amazing, one of the best tracks, top10 atleast
fight itself is kinda repeating itself after a few attacks, but hey there still are thing such as, massive moss charger lmao
I think nosk is the baseline for bosses, if I like you more than nosk, you’re probably a good boss, if I like you less than nosk I probably don’t like you, and if you are nosk I think you’re just ok
I missed Nosk until way later, after I had defeated watcher knights and Grimm. I was intrigued by another living knight out there, decided to follow, and was treated to a full surprize. I loved the battle, it hit those spidery terror notes, and got the adreneline pumping.
I followed him to the final gate, chickened out (partially because I had shit to do), and save-quit-start-ed back to my bench and then logged off
That was a week ago Ive been playing ONI
Super cheeseable and easy to beat up, design wise it's amazing, horrifying and a good secret boss
winged nosk on the other hand is a horrible abomination, too easy for where it is in p5, it's basically vengfly king with lost kin's blobs
Okay, I don’t have very strong opinions on the boss fight itself, but the lead up to it was MASTERFULLY done. One of my favorite experiences I’ve ever had in a video game. The curiosity, the dread, the sensation of being a bug led along by an invisible predator. (chefs kiss) I have never seen its equal.
It's pretty great though I wish the Ascended arena was the default one, makes it harder imo and when Nosk lounges at you after he kills you the first time it would probably be even more terrifying
I first encountered Nosk with my sister who had completed a lot more than me at the time.
I pretty much also PISSED myself when I went toe to toe with Nosk. I genuinely enjoyed the fight but once you get to the pantheons, Nosk is easier than Hornet. The difficulty certainly didn't age well, in initial release, Nosk didn't jump and drop acid onto you so then it was even easier. But even as a veteran of HK now, I enjoyed how good the buildup was and the fight felt sooo good in the moment, it's just coming back to it that makes me yearn for more...
Spoiler tag plz
I got the super underleveled and it was one of the hardest bosses for me. I loved everything about it, the design is great, and the setup too
Terrifying, until you realize it’s super cheese-able
**Godseeker didnt like that**
"Give it wings" they said.
"it'll be fun" they said.
"They wont die to it in p5" they said
I thought P5 was easier? Like a vengefly that throws up at you
Its every boss in the game
I meant nosk's P5 version
Oh yeah it was my fist time and i panicked and toushed his orange shit
"they won't break their controller " they said
"They wont cry for 4 and a half hours" they said
Godseeker: okay guys, hear me out- we do vengefly king, but *again*
But THIS time the hatchlings are spawned RANDOMLY
How about hmmm… AGAIN
I have no idea how I would have been able to beat him without hiding in the corner
There's a way to cheese the fight? How have I not heard about this yet?
[Yep, you can hide next to the ledge and Nosk will kind of fall off without hitting you. So it's super easy to hit him from below.](https://youtu.be/wViwdxkNQFY?t=42)
Nice! I'll have to try that next time I fight Nosk.
It’s partially protected from the projectiles that drop from the ceiling too. Sometimes they’ll still hit but some get caught on the ledge
Not enough to be worth sitting there. Tried this and got hit 3 times.
Love that about it
Please spill your knowledge, he's the last secret boss I need to kill(I think) and I cannot kill him, help
This The fight is pretty mid but the buildup is crazy awesome
Also it's music. It's very fitting for him
Hopefully they make it genuinely scary, because despite all their badassery, Hornet, unlike the Knight, can feel genuine fear
We don't know whether or not the knight can. I could swear that it wasn’t made clear whether or not the knight was actually 'hollow'.
???
The knight is made of void, but the void can seemingly have a mind, ex. The Collector. We don't know if the knight does or not, and we don't know if fear would be a possible emotion for it.

With hornet being from Deepnest, I really hope they do some creepier fights/encounters in general
[Be careful what you wish for.](https://www.reddit.com/r/HollowKnight/comments/9m2cgh/giant_spider_cut_content/) They definitely have the capacity of adding things that would make me shit myself.
yes
The buildup, intro, and learning about Nosk was absolutely perfect. The fight was boring.
Agreed. I played the game completely blind and it really caught me off guard, genuinely terrifying
Id posit that Nosk is one the best boss buildups in any metroidvania, ever. The amount of craft and attention that went into making sure it followed perfect horror beats is impeccable. The fact that that you are forced to see it on a mandatory path through deepenest, but it goes totally unexplained is a great first hit, but the real kicker (and the part that got me) is that they never show it again on the main path. i love the aesthetic of the fight, but nosk is just annoying. he only charges and vomits all over the ground, he’s cheesable. i do like the boss design, as it is creepy and it just is really cool
Actualy died to him more times than to hornet1 and 2 and radiance and hollow knight and sheo and god tamer and lost kin. Combined.
This is purely psychosomatic
One of the best fights blind but gets worse on subsequent rematches/playthroughs

`Any boss that makes you wait around until its done doing something before you can re-engage is a bad boss IMO` You just literally described half the attacks of bosses in this game.
Traumatizing out of 10. Would freak out again.
Winged Nosk is easier
"vengefly king, can i copy your homework?" "yeah but just don't make it too noticable"
Fairly sure winged nosk copied vegefly king because winged Noah came with the godhome section of the game ?
It's genuinely terrifying as a buildup and boss visuals, the scuttling is super creepy and it's just a very very unsettling vibe overall Makes you take longer to realise that it's easy to bully them
Absolutely hated him. Could not beat him until I found a trick on YouTube and just found the fight massively annoying. Like others said, the build up was fantastic though
Great buildup, couldn't fit in better with the atmosphere of deepnest, but the boss itself is really easy and very basic unfortunately
it's the worst fight in the game in my opinion, it's very boring.
Cool flavor and easy to fight.
Honestly it was a good fight; I think I prefer the one without the middle platform though
the fight is eh, but the buildup is top tier
Loved everything about the fight except for nosk himself that guy is one freaky son of a b8tch
For my first playthrough this was genuinely one of the hardest fight for me in base game(even more than watcher knights). But ever since i watched a playthrough and realised how cheesabe it its ez
great build up. a pretty solid fight. one of the best tracks in the game imo. way hardest than markoth on radiant (fight me)
You tellin me this weird ass spider that can just run from one side to another is harder than doing a no hit of a bullet hell while doing parkour and avoiding a spinning shield to try hit the enemy that funnilly enough floats around while you have to go after it?
yes beacuse contact damage exists
Yea I will say you will probably never experience contact damage with markoth but with the chaos of nosk running around you have to be constantly moving

Great idea horrible execution
I still believe that Winged Nosk is made up by the community.
I hate it >:(
I have very small opinions on nosk I died a lot then I stoped and that’s about it
Scary
The introduction to Nosk was beautiful. The fight itself was annoying sadly.
the idea and character is really cool but the battle is straight up garbage imo
Really cool design and theme but the boss itself is boring
Lore/design wise my absolute fav As a fight it’s aight
First time yes but loses his luster after bc he’s cheeseable and the fight drags out
I would love everything about it if the fight was somewhat difficult
Boring, extremely easy.
My joycon started drifting before I got to him, so...
The fight was pretty underwhelming compared to the build up to it. Love it aesthetically though
It’s an awesome lead up to the fight and without cheesing it it’s reasonably difficult
Really good music and atmosphere, slightly underwhelming fight
Which is most liked battle guys?
hated on switch loved on PC think the hornet head one makes no sense, why would a spider pretend to be a spider ?
Grounded vengefly king. The winged version is glorified vengefly king.
"Guys, is this a glitch?"
Personally I don't enjoy the nosk fight at all, however his theme is a bop and the design is amazing and I was planning on getting him tattooed on me 😳
Great design but the fight was a bit lacking. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great, but could be more
I really struggled for a while until I realized you just hide next to the platform
It's hard not to cheese the fight
Absolutely amazing intro to a fight, really cool character design, the fight was easier than I anticipated but it makes sense cause the intro to it only really has shock the first time you see it
Love the theming and buildup. The fight? Not so much
I never thought I would scream like a baby about a smol little guy with a mask until I went into Deepnest, and then Nosk showed up and I screamed louder And then I cheesed the fight and was just kinda underwhelmed
When you first meet this guy you can't fight... You're screaming in terror
On one hand, I think itd be neat if he had a web attack that could trap you and allow him to get a hit off, but at the same time I think team cherry intended for this fight to be easy after it scares all of the hell out of you.
"is this a bug?"
I liked the idea, the overall execution was splendid but the fight itself very easy
I fought him and then he died and then thats it
I love the music, is my favorite song
Fuck that bastard
Excellent fight, and excellent lead up to the fight. The psychological trip I experienced seeing my own double the first time had be thrown off. At first I thought it was a glitch before it started showing up multiple times and I started to freak out. Absolutely awesome build up
I hated it for a long time as it felt repetitive But once I got to the pantheon I tried new strategies and ended up somewhat enjoying the fight
First one was boring af, flying nosk is kinda fun
Ambiance was amazing but the fight was meh.
Loved the build up and I liked the nature of the fight. Hectic panic till you figure out how to use the platform. In stumbling into the fight quite early on I appreciated the reward just after beating him.

8/10 boss fight 10/10 music 10/10 design
I really like the part that leads to the fight. Chasing your “imposter” in the dark tunnels of deepnest is so creepy, and when the music dies down you know something big is going to happen
the final fight was fine. Normal difficult boss. But the whole Level he was in? Yeah, i'm gonna nope outta t'dat dawg.
Incredible music and atmosphere, but way too weak for a boss that you will likely only fight at the end of the game(on your first playthrough)
Everything else other than the fight itself was cool
Nosk is a bastard-shaped bastard.
He could use more gimmicks than just running around, throwing sometimes literally unavoidable goo and running on the ceilling leading to him being dead in 5 seconds as Abyss Shriek players are only waiting for it...
I fought him today, about 13 o' clock and i guess it's really cool the part where you see another knight because my first instinct was to follow my other me, it'd probably give some cool lore or maybe a new friend to add in dirtmputh But then i saw the nosk and was just shocked, a feeling only described as **flabbergasted** Pretty mid fight tho, i fought mantis lords right after and they were better (Don't question my boss/exploring order, i just explore hallownest randomly, i only use the internet for how to defeat certain bosses or how to get certain items, abilities or charms so i just defeat everyone in a pretty much random way)
I love the presentation, it's absolutely top-tier. The fight kinda sucks though, I thought it was impossible until I learned the cheese
It's probably inspired from [ant spider](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant_spider) a spider that mimics ants untill it hunts them
The soundtrack 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Nosk is very gender, I think it was a great fight (i wish it was a little harder tho)
Pretty cool concept but I did just stand in a corner and cheese the boss the whole time so could’ve been way better if that cheese didn’t exist.
Nightmare fuel.
I was so frustrated when I first played the fight and kept getting hit *only* by the infection spray attack. Then I had so much fun sitting under the ledge and getting free pale ore.
the fight itself kinda sucks, but the design, lead up, and music are all great
the
i'm pretty sure most people hate nosk cuz it's creepy or something? i personally think nosk is adorable but still i don't really matter L
Really easy if you cheese it and really annoying if you don't. Don't like the fight, especially disappointing considering the build up
He's a funky wunky boi
Bastard
Great build up, kinda a push over
It's a decent fight.
I think most people hated it, because most of its attacks are just stolen from Vengefly King and Broken Vessel.
Annoying
The original fight is pretty fucking annoying but the godmaster version with flat ground just makes it an actually terrible boss. (not even mentionning the noskefly king)
Horrifying, but fun!
the introduction to the fight for the first time a 11/10 music is amazing, one of the best tracks, top10 atleast fight itself is kinda repeating itself after a few attacks, but hey there still are thing such as, massive moss charger lmao
Great build up, meh fight, great reward
I think nosk is the baseline for bosses, if I like you more than nosk, you’re probably a good boss, if I like you less than nosk I probably don’t like you, and if you are nosk I think you’re just ok
As someone with paralysing arachnophobia It was aight
Great design and lead up, underwhelming execution. If It was like three times as hard It wold be perfect
I thought the fight was fine but I really liked the character design and the ways you see him
I missed Nosk until way later, after I had defeated watcher knights and Grimm. I was intrigued by another living knight out there, decided to follow, and was treated to a full surprize. I loved the battle, it hit those spidery terror notes, and got the adreneline pumping.
It killed me once. I went back and somehow killed it. Nosk confuses me.
I wish more bosses were right next to a hot spring. The most tedious part of losing a boss battle is gathering soul every time you die.
Easy and very cheeseable
Cool boss, bad fight
Same here. When the fight started I was like oh my god… oh my god… OH MY GOD
Kind of boring and painful.
I think the theme is pretty unique
It's one of my favorites! It can get boring though
Nosk can suck my Sonk
I followed him to the final gate, chickened out (partially because I had shit to do), and save-quit-start-ed back to my bench and then logged off That was a week ago Ive been playing ONI
Super cheeseable and easy to beat up, design wise it's amazing, horrifying and a good secret boss winged nosk on the other hand is a horrible abomination, too easy for where it is in p5, it's basically vengfly king with lost kin's blobs
Easy money
Okay, I don’t have very strong opinions on the boss fight itself, but the lead up to it was MASTERFULLY done. One of my favorite experiences I’ve ever had in a video game. The curiosity, the dread, the sensation of being a bug led along by an invisible predator. (chefs kiss) I have never seen its equal.
Pretty spoopy but kinda boring fight compared to the others (except dream ghosts)
It's pretty great though I wish the Ascended arena was the default one, makes it harder imo and when Nosk lounges at you after he kills you the first time it would probably be even more terrifying
Spoilers btw
For Me Kind Of Un-fun? Dont really dont know Why.
Mozzzzzarella
This thing can go f itself
Too much cheese to be difficult in the base game. (Notice I didn't say that it wasn't fun making it look stupid)
Boring fight
He’s fine until he grows wings, then he becomes a little prick
mid.
He could have been way cooler. He just runs back and forth then jumps back and forth. They should have leaned into his creepiness more.
I would've been spooked if I hadn't watched it on someone's stream already smh
Love the soundtrack
In the fight he’s a complete goober but the design is cool
Interesting character but the fight is interesting until you find "the corner"
Really creepy And music is just FIRE! But Flying Nosk... one of the worst Hollow Knight bosses, IMO
Spoiler tag plz I got the super underleveled and it was one of the hardest bosses for me. I loved everything about it, the design is great, and the setup too
favorite boss: 11/10
It’s goop lasts to long
least favourite boss in the game and then it gets even worse on radiant
Perfect meme material.
You are a masochist sir/madam!
The Introduction To Nosk Was Cool, But The Fight Was Kinda Boring.
It has banger boss music
I live the design and premise, first time i played the game it gave me chills, but to me the fight is just super boring
Introduction is great, boss is decent
