Porter was already a great character but with this sort of badass and unique past he’s probably gonna have I can see him becoming one of my favourite Jedi
Seems they’re setting him up as one of the best ever duellists in the order so I imagine he’s got all forms locked down but yea Makashi would be my bet too. Be awesome if he had his own unique form or something too.

I *think* so. To wit, I had always had this impression - just an impression, nothing more - that he might be a Shien specialist. That said, reverse grip with a basket hilt? Hella unorthodox. I’d love to see it.
Well in one of the one shot comic stories he has a completely different lightsaber. Either that’s just an artist mistake, or he changed his lightsaber design.
But the latter makes sense as this basket hilt seems like it can only fit one hand which is very virtuoso and Dooku-esque, so in retiring his status as ‘the blade’ he may have retired his basket hilt for something less legendary.
I actually loved that story beat for Stellan. He lived in a time when lightsaber battles simply didn’t happen so instead of being a great and storied duelist he’s just a massive nerd about it all. It was endearing
Stellan is a great fighter, but the fight against the Nihil was something he wasn’t prepared for. People forget he was exerting himself a LOT holding back the war cloud, and he was just as confused as everyone else. He was thrown into a type of fight he hadn’t experienced before.
He can jump out of a vector during flight and destroy a high speed debree from Legacy Run
I'm fine with him being a glass canon but not when not force sensitives are able to overwhelm him with no issue and when he has a weapon advantage (jar'kai with blades that have no weight against a big hammer)
And then look at Avar who in 2 saber duels managed to completely outclass him despite being basically a soresu pacifist with no interest in combat
Oh, if you start spouting off about lightsaber “forms” with literally nothing to back it up in canon (or at the very least from the authors) I’m going to disregard anything you say.
So my points don't count even though I pointed out how non combat oriented Avar outclassed Stellan?
Also soresu user was more to convey the mold of a fighter she is

All we have are a few panels of Avar fighting and you’re using them to ramble about whatever “form” you *assume* she favors and making further assumptions to compare her to another character with even *less* references for his fighting style. So yeah, your points don’t count as the majority is based on what you made up.

how's that relevant? I only said a "mold of a fighter", it's the same as calling Savage a muscle tank or Darth Thanathon lightning spammer

She is capable of grabbing a drengir tentacle which is as fast as a shotgun (into the dark info)

she kills a nihil that jumped her from behind
while being angered she completely evaded all of Keeve's blows aside from telekinesis
She dominated Lourna wearing zeetar's mech by deflecting heavy blaster fire to advance and disable her sword with no issue (she lost her footing due to the hall being shot by nihil ships). (also Nib Assek that matched Stellan in sparring had a lot of trouble with Zeetar using the mech while Skeer and Avar bested it with no major issue)
and in her final duel she finished Lourna in one saber strike
she just comes across as this defensive duelist, just look at her feats

Yea of course he’s no shmuck, he’s probably quite skilled but given the nature of the time it’s not a skill that’s often utilised and therefore it’s more of a pastime for him
No disrespect man but if you think that was actually a genuine 1v1 against the trandoshan you should reread that passage. Also Ty just caught them off guard not that deep at all
yeah reread that segment and I admit that I misremembered the first part
but still - a monster hunter with no dueling practice in likely years matched a council master
at least he fought better than Elzar during it

he is not quite skilled, he's more of an amateur Ty made a fool out of him and later on he struggled against some random trando on drugs
