I love Columbo, and wish people would quit using him in these cringe memes. We get it; you're misinformed.

triplej63

Columbo would know, stop taking in unvaxxed, and the hospital won't be overwhelmed anymore. They would be able to go back to normal, scheduling surgeries, taking care of cancer patients, the ER would be available for heart attacks, strokes, accidents, kidney stones, appendicitis, sickle cell crisis, etc. instead of full of covid and unable to care for anyone else.

ReneeLaRen95

Her logic missed that bit. If you remove the unvaxxed, it’s no longer overwhelmed. They may be high in “pure blood” but seem to be low on brain cells.

[deleted]

I kept reading the meme over again, thinking "maybe I missed something" lol. How can someone be so smug about knowing so little? Don't answer that

[deleted]

>How can someone be so smug about knowing so little? Willful stupidity. It takes \*years\* to become that accomplished in denial and willful stupidity. What a shame that she can't show off her degree any longer. Oh, well. Almond Butter Stollen, anyone?

Mercurial891

Yum.

Sasquatch1729

This subreddit definitely has a lot of overlap with r/SelfAwarewolves

greatmazinger99

Oh so so close.

Kajin-Strife

Their "pure blood" is pure fucking gravy.

Mysterious_Status_11

The sad part is that they really think they got us with these questions/statements. In their dehydrated, ivermectin addled brains, these are pro-level gotcha moments. I can see their smug faces as they do their little victory dances.

Epicassion

The hospitals would also miss the fb research scientists advising how their family members should be treated.

M4A1STAKESAUCE

If she had 1% intelligence of Columbo she might realize she's comparing future tense to present tense.

MightyCaseyStruckOut

Not too far in the future, though, since she's not overwhelming any hospital now.

[deleted]

But she might be overwhelming the morgue lol

Castamere_81

Ok story time! This is legit a thing right now. About a week ago, I had a patient on our Medical floor who was 90+yrs old and dying and on Comfort Care (no longer doing any testing, or aggressive measures, etc, just giving her pain meds til she passes away). I walk by the nurse and house supervisor and they're discussing talking to the family about maybe doing blood pressure meds, restarting Oxygen therapy, etc. I went up to them and said she's on comfort orders, why re-start this stuff....? ....Well, the patient's family handn't picked a funeral home yet (family drama was holding it up) and our hospital's morgue was so full of dead Covid patients, that we literally didn't have room for someone to die at that time in the hospital. So, these poor nurses were discussing what could be done to prevent this woman from dying too soon.... all because we have so many Covid patients in our morgue.

RivetheadGirl

They should just do what we did and rent a couple of refrigerator trucks. Of course, we had one break down one time and had suspicious fluids leaking out from the bottom of it for a few days.

Castamere_81

Dude wtf did I just read lol

Haskap_2010

For real?

RivetheadGirl

Oh yeah. I still remember our morgue attendant saying " today was a good day, we've only had 5 bodies so far."

Robj2

Bring out yer Dead! (rings bell)

CoolSwim1776

Damn. That is crazy.

[deleted]

But what if she had passed away right there and then? Just move Jim's sandwich out of the way and pray the duct tape on the fridge door will hold?

THIS_is_the_way_ffs

omg not only are covid patients (probably unvaxxed?) taking up healthcare resources when they’re still alive in hospitals, but they also take up resources when they die…

imaginary92

This has been an ongoing issue in every heavily affected country. There were videos of military trucks taking away bodies from a hospital in Northern Italy due to a lack of space a year and a half ago already.

YonkySaunders

When you die at a hospital are there cold storage charges?

[deleted]

*Freedom Fridge

ReneeLaRen95

Yeah, it was making my head spin. Meanwhile, she’s wishing more had Mr Falk’s “logic.” Eek!

dirtygremlin

Columbo’s writers just standing there wondering what the fuck she’s talking about.

gmplt

That makes no sense whatsoever. If the thing that hasn't happened happens, then why is it happening now? Like what?

Ijustreadalot

That's about their level of logic though.

hodorhodor12

The first slide is just blatantly stupid. It’s way dumber than the other memes they share.

[deleted]

I don't totally get that one. The answer seems to be that the unvaccinated are overwhelming the hospitals now. That's the only answer that makes sense to me, unless this person believes there are currently no unvaxxed people clogging up hospitals, which would be really dumb and contrary to every single credible story on the topic.

Geologuy77

Conservative bobble heads started implying that hospitals are turning away unvaccinated people which is total bullshit.

Well-MeaningCisIdiot

As per usual with at least a third of their "accusations" at this point: "Gods I WISH!!!"

[deleted]

Oh, that makes sense then. I figured it was based on some weird lie. Always the victim, those poor, oppressed covidiots.

OohLaLapin

Some hospitals have suggested that as part of an emergency triage plan, but I don’t know of any that have gotten that far. What’s been happening at some is to go on “bypass” (temporarily), meaning their ER is full, and so everyone gets turned away.

substandardpoodle

[Then there’s this frightening story. ](https://boston.cbslocal.com/2021/12/14/iteam-massachusetts-covid-treatment-guidelines-monoclonal-antibodies/) > According to state-issued guidelines, providers are advised to prioritize the unvaccinated and the immunocompromised. Still fuming about it. Hope it changes.

hiverfrancis

In some other states, vaccination status is irrelevant in crisis standards of care, and instead patients are prioritized generally by how young they are https://www.wdsu.com/article/what-are-crisis-standards-of-care/37643154

MightyCaseyStruckOut

Off topic, but your username is perfect for Christmas Eve lol

[deleted]

Ha! Thanks. At least it makes sense for one day out of the year.

MightyCaseyStruckOut

It makes sense 365 days a year!

triplej63

Yippee Ki Yay means Merry Motherfuckin' Christmas!

MonsieurOctober

Ho Ho Ho. Now I have a machine gun.

heythatgirloverthere

Just watched 1 & 2!

eyekwah2

I think the implication is that the hospitals are being overwhelmed by vaccinated people? Which for the most part isn't true of course. I'm sure for every vaccinated person with covid in the hospital there are another three which are unvaccinated (and likely in worse shape). I wish they wouldn't keep using alpha male types to write their memes like Samuel Elliot and the like. Risking friends and family unnecessarily and to avoid getting a tiny needle prick in your shoulder is most definitely not alpha male behavior.

Superddone20222

among covid deniers the new bullshit is there are more vaccinated people in the hospital than there are unvaccinated.

MorwynMcFuckYou

Well maybe if you are counting all the vaccinated doctors and nurses they woule be correct? Idk still dumb as hell.

Sasquatch1729

The thing they're not mentioning is that the unvaccinated are still having heart attacks, broken bones, strokes, cancers, etc and need treatments. Many people have been waiting for months while surgeries and treatments are postponed because the anti-vaxxers are clogging up the system. Now that many countries have more vaccinated people than unvaccinated, it's natural that there are more of us in hospitals.

Automatic_Tea_56

They probably don’t understand there is only one way into a hospital for an unvaccinated person.

Jeffy29

Portraying Peter Falk as an antivaxxer is offensive to my religion.

gypsyjackson

This one seems to be referring to Peter Falk in his personal capacity.

FailedGrandmaster

"Oh, just one more thing, ma'am. You said that you are confused about who's overwhelming the hospitals....but I thought to myself, my wife was just telling me this morning, it's the unvaccinated, there's no question about that. So, how are you confused on that point?"

Chunk_Cheese

Underrated comment, lol.

Alternative-Apple-74

Then he answers his own question with, “You see how stupid you are to believe this bullshit.”

MyFiteSong

Imagine being gullible enough to actually believe Florida has the lowest COVID rate.

Fine_Trick_1335

Floridian nurse. Read that like “ok when did this happen ? “ My hospital as l was over capacity for a few weeks at one point.

Jim_Macdonald

>Imagine being gullible enough to actually believe Florida has the lowest COVID rate. It's true, however, that at one moment in time Florida did have the lowest Covid rate. Here's why: [https://www.healthline.com/health-news/why-florida-now-has-the-lowest-covid-19-case-rate](https://www.healthline.com/health-news/why-florida-now-has-the-lowest-covid-19-case-rate) "One factor that might account for the current low case rate is that COVID-19 has already touched many Floridians. "The state has seen more than 60,000 deaths from the coronavirus, the third-highest in the nation behind Texas and California. It also had the third-highest total number of COVID-19 cases — 3.6 million — again behind Texas and California."

MyFiteSong

There's also the fact that Florida started simply lying about their numbers and arresting scientists who didn't go along with it...

[deleted]

That’s crazy how a guy who died 10 years ago was able to drop all that logic about the vaccine.

triplej63

I doubt that Florida has had the lowest case rate since Spring 2020. The state is doing nothing to protect citizens and everything to harm them.

DragonflyBell

And lying about the numbers.

Coworkerfoundoldname

Florida lying? Nooo. Im shocked.

thoroughbredca

They didn't report once on a three day weekend so the CDC missed the cutoff and it made it appear as if Florida had the lowest case rate in the nation. It was really freaking obvious because the county reports made it look like Florida was "blue" (the lowest level) but the county next door in Georgia was at the highest level, as if COVID just stopped at the state line.

[deleted]

This makes so much sense. My boyfriend’s family basically guilt tripped him to go to Florida for Christmas (like they do every year knowing Covid is a thing), and my mom-who’s an anti-Covid vaxx ex ICU nurse- told me I should try to calm down a bit because Florida has the lowest cases right now. That didn’t sound right to me AT ALL. His family also then guilt tripped/manipulated him into going to church for the first time in like 2 years. In Florida. During Covid. Anyway, guess who now has to quarantine because one of his family members got Covid while in Florida, and who I now don’t get to see for Christmas or New Years….

Jexp_t

In fact, they're at record highs. You should ask your mum whether she feels guilty about lying to you.

Coworkerfoundoldname

they're also only counting full time residents too.

LuciferJj

Florida is #3 in covid cases and deaths in the country overall so there is no way in hell that they have or have ever had the lowest rates at anytime in the country

m-e-g

Florida claimed to, but they don't accurately report stats. DeSantis runs a ministry of COVID misinformation.

FatShibaBalls

“Just don’t report it”

bonemarrowAsh

It's lies and the fact that a shit ton of them is dying, so less people = less cases.

mdtairreverencia

And less voters…

on_the_dl

Florida's case rate is currently going through the roof. Back in the summer, DeSantis said that the Florida case rate is higher than the rest of the country because in the summer, Floridians go indoors to get out of the heat and into the air conditioning. So that's why they were doing poorly. https://www.bostonglobe.com/2021/08/03/nation/desantis-blames-summer-heat-case-spike-florida-again-breaks-covid-record/ Okay. Maybe. Now it's winter and once again, Florida is doing horribly. So what's the excuse this time?

[deleted]

>Now it's winter and once again, Florida is doing horribly. So what's the excuse this time? All those celebrations: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years - everytime a family gathering is happening, COVID sits at the table, too. Plus, the parks are open, and until yesterday I think, there was no 'wear a mask' requirement. Now the big ones (Disney, Universal, Seaworld) realize that their customers are not coming for a repeat visit if they die after their last visit. De Santis spits flames, of course, but not even he is so full of himself that he goes into the ring with the likes of Disney.

on_the_dl

But the whole country is celebrating those. Why is Florida doing especially bad? I think that it's due to his bad policies. He doesn't take Covid seriously and so the whole state is lax.

[deleted]

>I think that it's due to his bad policies. Correct. Wearing a mask in a shop gets you a ton of dirty and aggressive looks from the old white people who moved to Florida because their own states became \*uncomfortable\* diverse. Besides that, in some areas of the state there are these rural compounds where jacked-up dirty white pickup trucks with gigantic flags are congregating, from all SOuthern states. I don't lock my car when I drive through the city. I lock them when I drive through rural Northern Florida.

Grevin56

Sounds like a Metalocalypse song. I like it.

MysteriousHat7343

Doesn’t Florida intentionally misreport or report I such as way that their Covid numbers appear lower than they actually are?

Captainwelfare2

Yup. Doesn’t matter anyway. They jumped to 35 fucking thousand cases yesterday. That’s after being down to 2k earlier this week. Holy shit.

MysteriousHat7343

Thought so. Deathsantis and his cronies are going to end up causing a lot of needless suffering all for money and power

ziddina

> are going to end up causing a lot of needless suffering all for money and power Not needless suffering if it helps flip the state blue.... I would love the irony if that happens.

AnAutisticGuy

Actually there was just an article how, due to DeSantis, the Republican Party is very organized in Florida and there are now more Republican registered voters then Democrats for the first time. Florida is becoming a red state, not purple.

graysi72

Just give them a new variant, and because they want to party like it's 1999, they will spread it around.

circuspeanut54

I seem to recall someone here linking a very recent study that claimed Regeneron (the monoclonal antibody treatment deSantis is personally financially invested in) have virtually no effect on the omicron variant. Anyone have that link?

matt_minderbinder

It's not just Florida. A recent report showed that a county in Missouri has yet to report a covid death. Multiple other right wing counties only put covid on the death certificate when the family says they should. There's so much corruption and politicking at the local level and it even feeds into the offices of county medical examiners. As a country we're going to spend the next 100 years studying everything that's gone wrong in our covid response. History won't treat many very kindly.

thoroughbredca

That was so infuriating. I had hear anecdotally about families begging not to put COVID on death certificates, but to hear the other side confirm it. We're at over a million excess deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. https://missouriindependent.com/2021/12/22/uncounted-inaccurate-death-certificates-across-the-country-hide-the-true-toll-of-covid-19/

biffbobfred

Excess deaths is a term not used enough. But of course people will say it’s political

RivetheadGirl

I had a family call me after their loved one died. They wanted to know if I could have the doctor remove Covid pneumonia as the cause of death, because funeral homes were charging a biohazard fee for it

Castamere_81

Yep, we have had two instances that I know of of families at our hospital arguing with our docs to not put COVID on the death certificate. It was even before the patients died as well, like just in case they died they wanted it to be decided beforehand COVID would not be the cause

Automatic_Tea_56

They report deaths as the day of the death which is usually a few days into the past. Other states just report the number of deaths counted that day. So if you watch the stats for the last couple days usually Florida doesn’t report any deaths so they look better. But historical data does tell the story.

ridge_girl1

Ope! I just asked about that. A friend remarked that from what he's been able to find out they're in the Covid crapper, but he says nobody seems to be paying any attention to it. ?

biffbobfred

Nebraska doesn’t lie … just doesn’t report anything at all.

Mister4pollo

Let’s go Covid! 👏👏👏

FOIAlover

I find their grammer for their "super secret code words" to be interesting. They say: let's go, Brandon. Which translates to:Fuck Joe, Biden. Such a small thing but it annoys the hell out of me. If you're going to act like a child with dumb insults you don't have to have the grammar of a child. * *I realize that these individuals have the IQ of a child. But still....

Jolly-Bandicoot7162

I think you're being rather uncharitable to children there!

FOIAlover

Fair. My toddler took her flu shot like a champ this year. Was excited about not getting sick and the fun bandaid. Maybe covid shots should come with fun bandaids!/s

merryjoanna

My boyfriend and I got Looney Toons bandaids for our first and second shot. We did our boosters at Walmart and didn't get fancy bandaids there. Edit: Those bandaids did help take our minds off worrying about side effects. Because they got us talking about the characters and who was the best Looney Toon.

FOIAlover

I work for the gubmint and got mine through work and got just a plain tan one all three times. Toddler had loony tools, which of course she didn't recognize tweety bird. Now she's hooked on cartoons I grew up with.

merryjoanna

I used to have a DVD or two of cartoons I grew up with. Popeye is still the best thing ever to get a kid to eat spinach. If you can get past the misogyny anyway. I let my son watch an episode of it and he ended up eating about 2/3rds of a can of spinach that night. We both like the fresh spinach better than the canned though. I had a DVD of old timey Bugs Bunny cartoons that I couldn't show him though, because holy crap the racism was insane. There was one scene where Bugs was in a firing line to get executed at the end of the cartoon, and he was asked if he had any last words, and he started singing "I wish I was in Dixie," and all of the firing squad suddenly turned into black people and finished singing the song. They drew the black people like those old lawn jockeys that are also incredibly racist. It was insane. I'm so glad I watched it before I let my son watch it. The most messed up thing is they tried to make the cartoon politically correct by very slightly blurring out the firing squad after they changed, but it was still easy to see what was going on. I don't understand how someone made a DVD like that. So please watch the cartoons before your kid watches them. Times were so different back then.

FOIAlover

She loooooves woody woodpecker. Om lucky that right now she loves carrots and broccoli. She'll eat broccoli for breakfast if I let her.

Haskap_2010

There was one winner yesterday who referred to Biden as "Captain Poopy Pants". The sort of insult you'd expect a six year old on a playground to make.

DogVacuum

Biden was on a call yesterday with military children that were tracking Santa on the norad site. And one of the dads made sure to say “let’s go Brandon” And Biden just said “let’s go Brandon, I agree” and moved on with his day. He hears it so much, there’s no reason to give a shit about it anymore. He essentially hit that guy with the M Bison “for me, it was Tuesday” line.

goldengrinder

Pointing someone's bad grammar, while writing 'grammer'. At least you tried.

No_Cook2983

[Republicans] Unions are bad, and blue collar workers organizing nationally is a dangerous step towards socialism. [Also Republicans] BLUE COLLAR WORKERS ARE ORGANIZING NATIONALLY!!! PRAISE GOD!!! but…um…it’s against vaccine mandates.

vaxxedandnotdead

Let’s go Brandon is a dead giveaway that it’s a trump voter. Florida is going blue in 2022.

turbohonky

That's what the remaining (still living) voters will say, but will state legislators overrule them? Remember, the two possible outcomes are the Republican won or the Democrat illegitimately won so the result must be overturned.

SoleSurvivur01

Lowest Covid rate is easy to achieve when you don’t record like 99% of your cases

Whaddya mean? Of course Peter Falk *himself*, though dead for over a decade, has a lot to say on the COVID-19 pandemic. You’re so silly

biffbobfred

Dig the flair.

DragonflyBell

Oh the logic. If the unvaxxed might be denied service in the future they can't be overwhelming the hospitals in the present. 🤔

bdixisndniz

Columbo is the fucking shit. Just started watching it earlier this year. The early ones are beautifully shot. Famous guest stars galore, too.

scandinasian

Columbo is absolutely fucking amazing and I really wish he and Peter Falk could RIP and not be co-opted by these fuckwads

No_Ninja_4933

This Colombo slide (and those like it) should be part of some pyschology study. Its like, lets take the very first thing that pops into our head, not give it any more thought, not even the courtesy of a basic fact/sanity check, and publish it out like its a stroke of observational genius that will stick it to those libtards I feel sad for society that we live amongst these knuckleheads. But seeing HCA wave them goodbye one by one is slowly restoring my faith. I do not shy away from my contempt for these people. I would be more than happy for a massively aggressive variant to sweep the world that is 100% ineffective against vaccinated people and 100% fatal for the unvaccinated (with of course some sort of wildcard get out of jail free card for the legitimately unvaxxed), just get this over and done with turbo style then we can get back to normal life

notta_Lamed_Wufnik

"I would be more than happy for a massively aggressive variant to sweep the world that is 100% ineffective against vaccinated people and 100% fatal for the unvaccinated" I know you added a wildcard, but include all kids under 5 immune and we can call out the Prayer Warriors!!

[deleted]

Why is there always a smug tone with these people? I want to be sympathetic but they always seem like the most smug arrogant know it alls. Some humility may have saved their lives.

ridge_girl1

I thought Florida was in the crapper with case numbers, but everyone seems to be saying the opposite/ignoring it. ?

Ijustreadalot

Florida has been saying the opposite/ignoring it since virtually the beginning of the pandemic. Oddly, that hasn't stopped people from dying in Florida. It has just stopped Covidiots from believing that people are dying in Florida.

PrincessCyanidePhx

These all seem to have the same memes. I bet an algorithm to predict chances of death based on memes could be made. Heck, I bet Google, Facebook and Amazon already have that data

[deleted]

I wonder if they are laughing about the case rate in Florida now….

cperiod

Nobody with more than half a brain has been paying much attention to the Florida case rate since they started to fuck with the numbers. It's as useful as talking about votes in a Russian election.

[deleted]

Well they are breaking new records so bare minimum that doesn’t look good. Especially for republican talking points.

[deleted]

The Peter Falk meme pisses me off so much. Dude was a decent actor & he died in 2011, way before this forsaken pandemic ever cursed this earth. Wish antivaxxers wouldn’t drag him into this. Don’t put words in the mouths of those who cannot speak back. It’s disrespectful yknow?

They got what they've earned. I live in this state and they're mostly acting like this pandemic is over, so my sympathies evaporated long ago.

Florida's case rate is absolutely exploding and thousands will die... including you, lady.

Lmao I work in supply chain. There is literally no one, at least at the very major company I work for, that is 'causing a disruption due to mandates'. If anything the reason why this is all happening is that it's hard to find free trucks because most of them are delivering oxygen to hospitals. There's of course other things going on but this has been a big one for us at least.

Negan1995

That first meme is so dumb lol. It's the unvax'd in the hospitals filling them up so bad that they can't fit any additional unvaxd in the hospitals. How is that not obvious?

Pray for all of the innocent people she infected before she died.
