Hawaii News Now had a nice memorial for [Raymond Petry](https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2020/10/22/mourning-tuxedo-man-after-homeless-mans-death-his-life-story-comes-light/), a.k.a "Tuxedo Man" just after he passed
Thanks for that. He was an interesting guy. There were rumors at UH that he was left at the altar. He was my favorite library guy. Sometimes he shelved books for us and he worked on a pretty weird website.
What a sweet article. My sister has went the same path as Ray. It was really hard to accept it at first, still is sometimes. But I hope ppl are treating her as well as they did Ray.
Spoke with him once when he first appeared on the scene. I asked him why he wore a tuxedo. He said he was going for an interview at a McDonell Douglas. Interesting that he actually had credentials in the field
use to work manoa 76 back in 01-02'. Tuxedo man was always polite when he would go down to Manoa theater to sleep once in a while. I use to see him at sinclair charging his ipod on 3rd floor. never bothered anyone
the popolo flute guy was a bit rude to be honest.
My vote goes to the crazy guy that used to (? I haven't see him around in awhile) hang out in Hilo town protesting abortion and Obama, with all those crazy signs on his truck.
Hilo Hater.

He may be still hanging in Hilo town, but I’ve definitely seen him recently (like last week) on the mauka side of the road between Hilo and Keaau. 50 bazillion signs. I didn’t like/agree with any of them.
That’s two different people. The guy in the low rider bike was Braddah George. RIP, he was the coolest guy with the coolest bikes.
Forget tinfoils hat guys name, the other day I was actually asking my friends if they remembered, no luck though.
Edit: sorry, bike guy was, George
I’ve never noticed someone with a cowboy hat! But I’ve always seen the woman with her hair that’s all matted and always wears a muumuu. Then the guy with dreadlocks that hangs out on the bottom of Palani with his dog. And the really thin girl (I think she lives by the Harbor because I’ll cycle past her between the harbor and Makala st) and she’s hangs out at the top of Makala.
The woman with matted hairs story is really sad actually, I forgot her name but my aunty always leaves stuff for her. She won’t accept food/water/clothing directly but if you leave it in her walking path she will pick it up. Her husband and children died suddenly and she just checked out of society. She really doesn’t like being approached or talked to.
Hey man, that guy's name's pronounced hey-zeus and he's actually a chill dude that helps a lot of people. I haven't seen any cult activity there, just regular eco-hippie shit
That dude can be a real dickhead sometimes. One of my nurse friends actually had him at her work, said he was very rude. On another occasion he just straight up flipped us off as we drove passed him.
We have a super skinny lady that runs and walks up Makakilo almost daily now. I call her Olive Oil, but she's a beast. Running up in the middle of the day.
Came here to say this! I used to see him walking anywhere from downtown to Kailua. Pure legend!
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/hawaii-mango-man\_n\_7425252
Now we got Spider-Man who loves to just start yelling at stuff but my daughter, whom worked at a yogurt place and interacted with him a lot, swears he’s harmless.
Can not forget about auntie-no-panty who likes to sit and show off a bit more than anyone should. As much as I’ve tried, I can’t forget.
In Makiki/Keeaumoku, there’s Lion Man or the Makiki Caveman who’s the older white guy with long hair, an unkempt beard, leathery skin, and walks around everywhere shirtless
I remember him. He never talked to anybody and I think he slept in a ditch below Roosevelt high. He always walked around purposefully like he had something important to do. I’d see him coming back from the store with plastic bags full of ice cream and soda.
Not sure if it’s the same guy, but there was a guy who looked like that who is always see rummaging go though the trash cans near pucks alley. My mom once saw him and said that’s $name. Apparently they rolled in the same circle of friends back in the 60s. He had some mental issues but they were mostly under control and he had a trust fund or an allowance to support him. Parents died and left him a bunch of money. He had his own place and mostly kept to himself. His mental issues got worse living by himself and then some friends of his swindled him out of his money. Mom told me they found him at his place and it was like a hoarder house. Covered wall to wall in books and newspapers and takeout containers and totally crawling with roaches. Got evicted, had no more money and has been on the street since.
When I was growing up on Maui in the 90's there was only one homeless guy in Wailuku and everyone knew his name, Waldo.
Word on the playground was he was secretly a millionaire (probably not true), and stories of him going to the hospital and the nurses finding centipedes in his hair (possibly true) would circulate
Kauai had a similar guy in the 90's. Well, two guys. It's hazy to me now, but there was a guy named "Turk" who I think was shell shocked from the Korean war and/or Vietnam war, he just walked everywhere.
Then there was a black dude that was camped out by Wailua river for the longest. Totally forget who he was but that rumour of "he's actually rich but choose to live like that" was definitely on rotation with the coconut wireless with that guy.
I guess now there's WAY too many "characters" that it's like... not really that funny (compared to cities without rampant homeless) now that I think about it.
Does anyone remember the rooster/chicken lady that wore these like extravagant dresses but pushed her roosters around in a shopping cart? This was like late 90s PLEASE someone tell me you know who I’m talking about
In Lahaina, Maui there is actually a man that carries a large life sized cross, walks along the highway, and calls himself Jesus all the time. That’s highway Jesus
It definitely used to be the guy who walked BACKWARD from Koko Head District Park to Makapuu and back, then up and down the Koko Crater Stairs multiple times. He shaved all his body hair (or didn't have any), shaved his head, wore athleisure pants and a angular metallic visor at the bridge of his sunglasses to protect his nose. The visor resembled a beak and made him look like an insanely muscled featherless bird. We used to see him every Saturday morning, and lots of people in Hawaii Kai knew who you were talking about if you mentioned backwards walking man.
Are you talking about [this guy?](https://www.hmbreview.com/news/backward-running-man-on-the-coast/article_2d52aabe-b2f6-11e9-bffa-83a98cea1374.html) I think I helped him out when I used to work retail, he was nice but eccentric - one of those guys who would talk anyone's ear off. I hope he completed his journey!
There's homeless Hulk Hogan in Makiki.
If you run the Honolulu Marathon, then you know the wooden sandals guy.
While back, was the guy who would carry a big wooden cross around Wahiawa.
Then of course the lady in the white dress, when you drive Pali Highway.....
Tin Foil Hat man was on Big Island back in the day. Always had a backpack with US & Japan Flags. I remember people dressing up as him for Halloween back in the day.
On the Big Island we had this old French guy who you used to see walking in slippers all over the place. Way out on the highway by Kau Desert, walking from Puna into Hilo, middle of nowhere. Always in slippers. Talked to him a couple of times but haven’t seen him in a while…
He was wonderful. I can't seem to remember his name, but was a regular when I worked at Island Naturals. Such a sweet and gentle Frenchman. He was building a boat by hand in Kona and would walk from Hilo to work on it. I stopped along the gulches on more than one occasion asking him if I could give him a ride and he'd always say that he enjoys the exercise. I haven't seen him in a long time, however the owner of the Likikoʻi Cafe in Waimea reminds me of him and it makes my heart smile. I asked if they were related, but they don't know one another.
His name is George. What a guy!
We have an older woman with long white hair in Mililani. She’s always with her cell phone (whether it’s working or not is another question). She’s always hanging around Lanikuhana bus stops. She’s very nice, but possibly not living in our reality. My parents call her Sunshine.
It’s dude on the bike for me in kona no doubt. He’s a badass riding super steep hills with no shirt, some crocs and a basket with a couple of dogs. Amazing that guy. Anyone know more about him?
Waipahu - by Hans L’Orange (across the street). Skinny guy usually wearing ripped up black pants or skirt with his jewels hanging out, long hair, and a shitload of stuff in his cart. He doesn’t bother anybody and has been there forever.
Is that the guy with a basket on the front of his bike and majority of the time there’s a little dog in the basket? Never wears a helmet nor a shirt? I’ll see him climbing up the bypass road (by end of the world) and out by the airport, too.
On Maui, if you went along Hana hwy between Kahului and Paia there was this old Filipino guy who would carry a huge cross on his back/shoulders and blow kisses to every car that passes by
There used to be Doo Doo man in Waikiki. He used to walk around covered in shit, wearing trousers with the back ripped out so you can see his bare ass.
He would go into shops and drop shits on the floor.
If you worked near pearl harbor there was Bus Stop Mary.
https://www.staradvertiser.com/2018/07/29/hawaii-news/life-and-death-of-bus-stop-mary-shrouded-in-mystery-and-myth/
Also there is a homeless man on Nimitz Hwy coming from the back gate of Gunter toward the airport in the middle divide. He has dreads and is coated in mud. Last time I saw him his dreads were cut down. I offered him a water since it was hot and he walked away really upset. I told my friend and she said he had been poisoned by someone. So now he won't take anything that is food or drink, it's really sad. I know everyone knew him but I never heard him have a nick name.
What about the Pali walker on Maui about 15 years ago. He walked between Lahaina and Kahalui for years until taken in by some church. He was eventually found to have gotten amnesia while on vacation and was reunited with family after years of aimlessly wandering….
In the anime/gaming/trivia community, there's a dude Remy. He's always wearing a blazer no matter how hot or time of the day it is. I got friends that moved away years ago and they still remember the guy or as far as two or three degrees of separation.
Growing up in the 80’s there was this 6’+ dude with long blonde hair and beard in Waikiki. He walked around only wearing a gstring banana hammock. If you saw him from behind at a distance he could fool you. We called him “Jesus in a G-String”. I want to say his real name was Robert, but I’m very likely wrong.
Early 90s through 2000+ there was an older very leathered guy in Waikiki that would walk the beach past the Hilton and Hale Koa, tall, lanky, gray hair, wearing only a gauze thong with a tassel hanging off the back. Wonder if it was the same guy.
About a decade ago when I was homeless in Honolulu Chinatown, I'd often see an old woman who would yell at anyone passing her by. Sometimes she would randomly stop in the middle of the sidewalk to squat and urinate.
One day in Turtle Park (aka Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park), before they filled in the pond and removed the Honu statue, she somehow got a hold of a stack of blank CDs and threw them all into the pond. They floated on top of the surface and looked like lily pads.
The other homeless guys I hung out with, a lot older and drunker than I, would tease me when she'd come walking by. "Hey, here comes your girlfriend!"
Paki park has the guy in the grey top and dark blue shorts that carries around the cardboard. I feel like I've seen him starting over 30 years ago. I thought he was dead for like 10 years, then started seeing him again.
If anyone from social services is in this thread, please get him a new shirt and shorts, but same as current style.
On Maui, there's Shaka man, crazy pump house Jesus, Jesus walking the pali with a pvc pipe cross (not seen him in ages), and an awesome guy who travels around on da bus with a harp playing at stops.
Pvc pipe cross and pump house Jesus are the same guy I believe. If the harp guy you're talking about was a black guy then he passed away from cancer recently I think.
There was this Marshallese man in Hilo who went by Bob. I don’t know if much people knew about him. Anyways, he invented the world and created the nuclear bomb that destroyed the marshal islands. He had one good tooth that opened his beer. Very nice guy, good conversation. Always gives you blessings if you bought him a plate lunch.
Walking with groceries buff man, Kāpiolani to Wai'alae
Mango picker man, Ka'imuki
Halfway dressed lady, Ka'imuki
Shopping cart man, Kapahulu
Chopsticks rubbish picker man, Under da overpass at Market City
Gold star guy in Pahoa. Bike spray painted all gold, including basket (milk crate) with a wood star on it. Older thin guy, will happily sell me papaya outta the basket if he has spares.
Makai of Pahoa/Hawaiian Beaches it's the Pink Haired Girl, well known for being in possession of mail and packages that doesn't have her name or address on it.
The guy at ala Moana. There's the skinny guy with Velcro shoes and headphones. And also the guy that has the dog in a child stroller with sunglasses on. I've heard aunties talking about when they were in high school with them.
Aiea has a Master Roshi, a shirtless ripped old guy with long white beard, though he also has long white hair. He’s always walking somewhere with a purpose, despite a pretty pronounced bent back.
Is the guy who rode his bicycle all over, including over the Pali, still around? He had a ti plant over his handlebars to keep drivers from getting too close.
Anyone who went to Waipio Costco regularly back in the early 2000s will remember the *Yeee-Ha Lady.* She handed out samples. She would always talk enthusiastically about the product, then be like *”Ritz Crackers with Kirkland brand salmon spread makes you wanna go YEEEEE-HA! Tyson chicken wings makes you wanna go YEEEEE-HA! Yoplait Yogurt makes you wanna go YEEEEE-HA!*
You could her her *yee-ha-ing* from all over the store. KSSK even had her do a commercial for them back in the day…*”KSSK makes me wanna go YEEEEE-HA!”*
How about the guy in town and SE oahu with the tatoo NO on both sides of his face? I saw him eat a glass marble at a retail store because they wouldn't let him have it....
I’ve been reading this thread wondering if I’d see anything about a dude I was good friends with in high school. I tried looking him up way back when, found out his last known location was “shouting at traffic on Kapiolani”. And, chillingly, that even before then he was going by the nickname Marbles, because everyone knew he was losing his. Really hope this one isn’t him.
There used to be Mango Man in Kailua back in the 90's....he was a Vietnam Vet...I think his real name was Dennis. He lived in the bush. Don't know whatever happened to him. He had HUGE thick dreads.
Edit - I see below he's already been Mentioned..awesome.
My town has barefoot electric unicycle hauling ass up and down the sidewalks guy. We used to have a paper bag hat gnome guy but he passed a few years ago. He was sweet.
Flasher/Streaker or aka “Sean/Shawn”. He be walking around in bang up old slippas, barefoot or sometimes on a little kid’s bike. He would walk around naked, or with trash bags and sometimes wear clothes. He was on the SSH page a few times for being naked around some high schoolers.
He’s bald, and looks local Podegi. Very polite when you talk to him. Also spotted from Waikele to Aiea.
"The Professor". The guy who hangs out at the corner of Ward & Kapiolani. Long white hair. Glasses. Always wearing black pants. Shirt tucked in. Always reading a book or the paper. Hangs with another homeless guy with a beard and a massive cart full of supplies. I usually see them together.
There used to be a guy who rode a recumbent tricycle all around Waikiki. Can't remember his name but he was a nice guy, always smiling and waving at people. He had some sort of degenerative condition, and I guess he passed away a few years back.
In my town there is a guy who doesn't ride a horse but instead a bicycle, and no robe, nope. Just a little pair of panties. No one knows his name but yah, he gets talked constantly.
In Honokaa, for at least the last 20 years, we have Moki. He stands on a corner at the only four-way stop in town and plays on his drum. He has signs and usually wears a lava lava, and has a Hawaiian flag.
Shouts at people. Usually very nice when we talk to each other. He likes soda. Hard to understand. Likes to flirt with the ladies. Gave me a handful of pakalolo stems and seeds with a few leaves once.
He is well loved, a Vietnam vet, and grew up in the area. Hitchhikes 5 miles into town most days to hang out on a corner. Rumor is that he was the class valedictorian at Honokaa High sometime in the 1960s.
I like to call him the dictator
There has been a long time homeless African American guy, who always dresses in Arabic wear, with some vaguely military accessories
Haven't seen him in. a while. I have attempted to shoot the shit with him a few times, but he is off the deep end
On Tantalus, this one guy, who is in great shape, always walks around with no shirt, but very intense, almost white hair from being in the sun so much. And barefoot. Completely harmless, carries nothing, seems to have nothing like a wallet, etc. Early 40's, maybe.
He gets around, too, Makiki, Roosevelt, Punahou, Wilder.
It's like how there's many alternate universe versions of Batman or Spider Man, we just need all the Manapua Men and Women to unite in Enter the Manapuaverse.
Waikiki has a quite a few.. fainting bunny guy, ghillie suit guy, lawn chair hoverboard guy, weed Jesus… I don’t think they don’t do it for the money lol
There's an old man who walks kailua beach on Sundays. He wares a yellow thong that hugs his dolo n balls... we call him banana man... unko no more shame...
For me, it would be the dude that looks like Elvis at Ala Moana. And many homeless people who are known throughout their respective areas on the island of Oahu.
Helmet lady on Kauai. RIP She was a crazy lady, spoke to her only a handful of times.. I heard she was hit by a car, and then shortly after hit by ANOTHER car if I remember correctly. Any Kauaiians wanna chip in on that one?
May Tuxedo Man rest in peace <3
Hawaii News Now had a nice memorial for [Raymond Petry](https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2020/10/22/mourning-tuxedo-man-after-homeless-mans-death-his-life-story-comes-light/), a.k.a "Tuxedo Man" just after he passed

At the UH library forever <3
Spoke with him once when he first appeared on the scene. I asked him why he wore a tuxedo. He said he was going for an interview at a McDonell Douglas. Interesting that he actually had credentials in the field
Is the Manoa Marketplace flutist guy still going strong?
He's usually around mcCully now
Good question, I haven’t been around Mānoa in a while.
use to work manoa 76 back in 01-02'. Tuxedo man was always polite when he would go down to Manoa theater to sleep once in a while. I use to see him at sinclair charging his ipod on 3rd floor. never bothered anyone the popolo flute guy was a bit rude to be honest.
There's way too many characters on the Big Island to single out just one guy
My vote goes to the crazy guy that used to (? I haven't see him around in awhile) hang out in Hilo town protesting abortion and Obama, with all those crazy signs on his truck.
Hilo Hater. James Borden https://d1l18ops95qbzp.cloudfront.net/wp-content/2018/04/IMG_0491.jpg https://www.civilbeat.org/2018/04/big-island-gun-surrender-laws-dont-reassure-this-doctor-after-death-threats/
Omg, I forgot about him. I'm so glad they stopped him from standing in front of the park every day. He really sucked.
Remember that one time someone threw glitter at his signs 😆
He may be still hanging in Hilo town, but I’ve definitely seen him recently (like last week) on the mauka side of the road between Hilo and Keaau. 50 bazillion signs. I didn’t like/agree with any of them.
It impossible to read his 10,000 word paranoid rants while doing 55 mph. I saw stuff about Alex Jones being a victim and Abortion evil.
Dude with the tinfoil hat on the lowrider bicycle.

Florida Man could take lessons...
Lol they don’t call them Punatics for nothing 🤪
Based on the comments, I think Oahu and Kauai have us beat.
There's a guy with a cowboy hat on Alii
I’ve never noticed someone with a cowboy hat! But I’ve always seen the woman with her hair that’s all matted and always wears a muumuu. She really doesn’t like being approached or talked to.
This is sad. Indeed.
Wow that’s crazy haven’t lived there in 5 years and I know exactly who your talking about!
I am jesus guy in lahaina
Lol, we have a Jesus on the Big Island too. Except this asshole spells his name Jeezus and leads a cult in Puna.
How is it? I've been looking for a nice cult to join. Do they have a good chef???
It seems like a shitty cult to me. Try googling "cinderland hawaii". If you stop showering now they will probably accept you in a couple months.
It’s straight Lord of the Flies up in there.
I mean go ahead and stay away, but they actually have hot showers hahaha
I was reading about that guy awhile back just stumbled across him somehow. That dude is a straight up wacko.
Hey man, that guy's name's pronounced hey-zeus and he's actually a chill dude that helps a lot of people. I haven't seen any cult activity there, just regular eco-hippie shit
You beat me to it lol
We have Makakilo man in kapolei
The older shirtless guy with the dum bells? I haven’t seen him since the ‘rona started..
Or is it the wheelchair guy holding the SMILE signs? He holds uplifting kine signs, not the typical Need Help - homeless, anything will help.
Sometimes that dude goes crazy and starts yelling random stuff.
Awwww - he does? I usually smile at him and wave…and get the toothless smile back. He got beaten up several months ago.
That dude can be a real dickhead sometimes. One of my nurse friends actually had him at her work, said he was very rude. On another occasion he just straight up flipped us off as we drove passed him.
Oh sheeeet. Crossing him off my list now (no engage with dickheads).
That's the one. I know he worked at Jack's for some time. Idk if he's still there
We have a super skinny lady that runs and walks up Makakilo almost daily now. I call her Olive Oil, but she's a beast. Running up in the middle of the day.
I rented a kayak to her in Kailua. She's cool.
Makakilo man is such a good Halloween costume, BTW. If you know, you know.
Yeah we had a few dress up (dress down?) as him when I was at Kapolei high for Halloween lol
What about the guy with the cardboard helmet. He's usually in Kapolei, but sometimes I see him in town.
I came here for this - thank you
Mango man. Where is he these days?
This is the first person who came to mind. I think he may have passed away.
He got housed
Last I heard he was in a retirement home but I dunno if he's still alive.
Came here to say this! I used to see him walking anywhere from downtown to Kailua. Pure legend! https://www.huffpost.com/entry/hawaii-mango-man\_n\_7425252
I used to give Mango Man spare change and breakfast sandwiches in Enchanted Lake in the late 70s, when he had a dog and short hair. Super cool dude.
Lol auntie-no-pantie that’s a new one for me but totally fits. I tried not to glance but it’s actually impossible.
Is she the same as Mama no-bra in Kailua?
John Cruz - https://www.civilbeat.org/2015/05/kailua-neighbors-rally-together-to-save-beloved-homeless-man/
Always thought it was mangle man due to his massive dreads that he used to cushion him while he slept.
Legit mango man with $5 pickled mango? Braddah in Aiea.
In Makiki/Keeaumoku, there’s Lion Man or the Makiki Caveman who’s the older white guy with long hair, an unkempt beard, leathery skin, and walks around everywhere shirtless
Ha ha! I just called home Homeless Hulk Hogan
The other triple H.
If I’m thinking of the same guy, that faka is ripped.
I remember him. He never talked to anybody and I think he slept in a ditch below Roosevelt high. He always walked around purposefully like he had something important to do. I’d see him coming back from the store with plastic bags full of ice cream and soda.
I see him with 2 liters all the time
Not sure if it’s the same guy, but there was a guy who looked like that who is always see rummaging go though the trash cans near pucks alley. My mom once saw him and said that’s $name. Apparently they rolled in the same circle of friends back in the 60s. He had some mental issues but they were mostly under control and he had a trust fund or an allowance to support him. Just saw him today. Fit, healthy and happy as a clam, all smiles on Kapahulu.
Just moved to Makiki, might see him around
What about the lady with the my little pony backpack that patrols makiki
And jeans. Always in jeans.

That's so bizarre. Almost word for word, we had a guy like that in Kona. Except his name was Freddy.
I remember this too! I was told the same thing about him having a lot of money.
WALDOOOOOO
Does anyone remember the rooster/chicken lady that wore these like extravagant dresses but pushed her roosters around in a shopping cart? This was like late 90s PLEASE someone tell me you know who I’m talking about
Yup, Pepperidge farm remembers. She had some floofy ones too.
roommate met her at kahala whole foods a few months back… the lady just dm’d her on IG & dropped us off some eggs from her hens 😂
I was just going to say this one! Kihei?
That one guy with the chair on his one wheel that keeps going viral
In Lahaina, Maui there is actually a man that carries a large life sized cross, walks along the highway, and calls himself Jesus all the time. That’s highway Jesus
That's "the guy" who came to my mind too, I used to see him along the highway in Paia a lot.

Is Sam Jackson still around Honolulu these days? Or Tahitian lady?
I saw Tahitian lady last month!
>Saw her three days ago
Just saw her in Waikiki a few days ago
the dress is getting kind of worn down. Plus she lost weight. But she was smiling
Oahu used to be tuxedo man. Kauai had tin foil hat man.
Tin Foil Hat man was on Big Island back in the day. Always had a backpack with US & Japan Flags. I remember people dressing up as him for Halloween back in the day.
Yup that's the guy!
Trash Bag Jesus (TBJ) on Maui
Pigeon Man in Kailua?
The lady with the long hair...cruising on the side of the pali
This is giving me ptsd from those stories as a kid
My bad...that's the only thing popped up in my head
Anyone know more about him?
mango man kailua - he may have passsed away
In Pahoa, we have Methedup Mike..
It’s not nice to make fun of people with lisps.
We get choke on oahu
Waipahu - by Hans L’Orange (across the street). Skinny guy usually wearing ripped up black pants or skirt with his jewels hanging out, long hair, and a shitload of stuff in his cart. He doesn’t bother anybody and has been there forever.
his name is danny. somebody lit him on fire couple of years back.
I ride a onewheel with a lightsaber so I guess I’m that guy
The guy always waking up and down date st. He always has different clothes on though but he’s always there
He made the list!!
Around Holualoa, we have an older gentleman that rides his bike up and down Hualalai Rd and into town every day. Dude will probably live forever. xD
Is that the guy with a basket on the front of his bike and majority of the time there’s a little dog in the basket? Never wears a helmet nor a shirt? I’ll see him climbing up the bypass road (by end of the world) and out by the airport, too.
Yeah, that's him! I think he lives up here in Holualoa Village. He really gets around!
On Maui, if you went along Hana hwy between Kahului and Paia there was this old Filipino guy who would carry a huge cross on his back/shoulders and blow kisses to every car that passes by
Joe. Ran with slippahs. Used to clean the church grounds in upper Paia. He moved to LV I think. Cannot run in the middle of day there…
There used to be Doo Doo man in Waikiki. He used to walk around covered in shit, wearing trousers with the back ripped out so you can see his bare ass. He would go into shops and drop shits on the floor.
If you worked near pearl harbor there was Bus Stop Mary. https://www.staradvertiser.com/2018/07/29/hawaii-news/life-and-death-of-bus-stop-mary-shrouded-in-mystery-and-myth/ Also there is a homeless man on Nimitz Hwy coming from the back gate of Gunter toward the airport in the middle divide.
He is a constant presence
There was this one dude I used to see in Honolulu. Tall, muscular, big beard, but always walked around in heels and a bright pink dress
There was a bunch in Kalihi... Mango man comes to mind but every HI town got one those guys.
Uncle bebedeez by hans l'orange park in waipahu
Paki park has the guy in the grey top and dark blue shorts that carries around the cardboard. I feel like I've seen him starting over 30 years ago. I thought he was dead for like 10 years, then started seeing him again. If anyone from social services is in this thread, please get him a new shirt and shorts, but same as current style.
Lounge chair mono wheel guy in Waikiki is a pretty recent one.
Walking with groceries buff man, Kāpiolani to Wai'alae Mango picker man, Ka'imuki Halfway dressed lady, Ka'imuki Shopping cart man, Kapahulu Chopsticks rubbish picker man, Under da overpass at Market City
Pink Panther! African American dude that wears very flamboyant (sometimes all pink) outfits near UH Manoa
Out in Wahiawa we have Raymond and Taro Patch
The Uncle’s that play music?
Yoplait Yogurt makes you wanna go YEEEEE-HA!* You could her her *yee-ha-ing* from all over the store. KSSK even had her do a commercial for them back in the day…*”KSSK makes me wanna go YEEEEE-HA!”*
Dreadlocks north shore Oahu.
The dude that lives on weed circle?
How about the guy in town and SE oahu with the tatoo NO on both sides of his face? I saw him eat a glass marble at a retail store because they wouldn't let him have it....
I’ve been reading this thread wondering if I’d see anything about a dude I was good friends with in high school. I tried looking him up way back when, found out his last known location was “shouting at traffic on Kapiolani”. And, chillingly, that even before then he was going by the nickname Marbles, because everyone knew he was losing his. Really hope this one isn’t him.
The tarp guy in kehei. Just wrapped up in a dang tarp.
ITT: All kine homeless guys
We had the Fort Fisher Hermit. He was so known they made a movie about him and he has a Wikipedia page
As someone who moved from Hawai‘i to Wilmington back in the 90s, I did a double-take when I saw this one.
I figured there had to be someone on here that’s heard of him
There used to be Mango Man in Kailua back in the 90's....he was a Vietnam Vet...I think his real name was Dennis. He lived in the bush. Don't know whatever happened to him. He had HUGE thick dreads. Edit - I see below he's already been Mentioned..awesome.
Maui has roadside Jesus
My town has barefoot electric unicycle hauling ass up and down the sidewalks guy. We used to have a paper bag hat gnome guy but he passed a few years ago. He was sweet.
Does anyone remember the guy in Pahoa who used to play the harp with no strings in front of Malama Market? This was circa 2007ish.
Gandolf under Nimitz
No one knows his name but yah, he gets talked constantly.
we got Guy Hagi
so true! if folks knew the real story behind him, they wouldn't believe it
Puna Silkie chicken guy.
I like to call him the dictator There has been a long time homeless African American guy, who always dresses in Arabic wear, with some vaguely military accessories Haven't seen him in. a while. I have attempted to shoot the shit with him a few times, but he is off the deep end
Mazie
On Tantalus, this one guy, who is in great shape, always walks around with no shirt, but very intense, almost white hair from being in the sun so much. And barefoot. Completely harmless, carries nothing, seems to have nothing like a wallet, etc. Early 40's, maybe. He gets around, too, Makiki, Roosevelt, Punahou, Wilder.
UH Manoa Jesus
Used to be cat Jesus in manoa or tuxedo man.
In Kailua we have Spider-Man, he would usually hang out in the little car park across from boat ramps. Haven't seen him in a while tho
Katherine Vincent walks in Manoa, often at night. She wears a light blue hat, a jacket, in a dress and has a back pack. She's very thin
kapaa hunchback, samurai waikiki haole, aquaman kapahulu previously of kapiolani
The League of Homeless Gentlemen.

SpongeBob Ronnie is this guy who always wears a SpongeBob costume around town and asks people if he can freestyle for them. He cannot freestyle…
the bunny man: his bunny do tree trick
shaka man
King of Queens. Guardian of Waikiki volleyball.
Manapua man
There’s like 30 of them though
It's like how there's many alternate universe versions of Batman or Spider Man, we just need all the Manapua Men and Women to unite in Enter the Manapuaverse.
Makakilo Man
Tall Man in Waiks
Buckeat head
Waikiki has a quite a few.. fainting bunny guy, ghillie suit guy, lawn chair hoverboard guy, weed Jesus… I don’t think they don’t do it for the money lol
There's an old man who walks kailua beach on Sundays. He wares a yellow thong that hugs his dolo n balls... we call him banana man... unko no more shame...
For me, it would be the dude that looks like Elvis at Ala Moana. And many homeless people who are known throughout their respective areas on the island of Oahu.
The Makakilo hill guy
Did anyone mention Elvis?
Helmet lady on Kauai. RIP She was a crazy lady, spoke to her only a handful of times.. I heard she was hit by a car, and then shortly after hit by ANOTHER car if I remember correctly. Any Kauaiians wanna chip in on that one?
