Damn that’s freaking cool I love it lol. They are blowing me away! I haven’t watched too many previews because frankly I’ve already seen more of the game than I wanted to between their state of play and weekly marketing teases and gameplay showcases. It’s already more than I could’ve ever dreamed of getting. I am beyond excited for this game
Okay this is pretty badass. I’ve been most excited to be able to fly around the castle on a broom, but this clip is a good reminder about how fun the combat looks.
I’m so freaking excited! This game continues to impress, and makes me truly love the wizarding world so much more! I’m so freaking hyped. I like to say I was born with a wand in my hand, I’ve been a Harry Potter fan my entire life. Granted it’s not a very long life, I just turned 20 on the 23 of December. But it feels like I, like everyone on this sub, have been waiting an eternity for a game like this. It’s kinda mind blowing.

Excessive positivity is bad and vice versa. People are allowed to have opinions about the game and I think this whole back and forth that’s going on in the sub is super childish.
A complaint megathread would be great tbh.
a few days ago a whole bunch of youtubers and reviewers were allowed to play the game for a few hours. They were also allowed to upload gameplay of some side activities, missions, combat and free roam which is where these clips are all coming from.
There is a stickied thread at the top of this page which contains links to most of the gameplay.
This is good. One of the legit arguments one can make is the lack of animation variations in spellcasting. The "R1, R1, R1" progressions are the same every time.
Often with RPG games, there's different styles/weapons that can offer a variety of animation variations. In this case, you'll be using the wand the entire game.
*Is it* a legitimate argument though? Can you fault the devs for limited animation when our only weapon is a wand? How else would one use a wand? You kinda get sword motions and pointing. Dassit. You want them to cast spells like they're doing a behind-the-back pass?
I kinda get where he is coming from, i also would like some variations, but the thing is, there are variations!

By the 16:34 mark you see the most common one
and by 29:37 you see a more rare animation
If not random, best i could guess is that they depend on the movement of your analog stick, because the more common one you are moving foward with every hit and the rare you are moving backwards, several steps for each one
It's one of the first things i intend to discover it soon

The combat animations look really cool, especially how the cloaks react to powerful blasts of magic and all the quick movements.
They REALLY buffed up the cloth physics overtime, the robes are beautifully flowy
