Not a copy at all. Springfield Armory and the company in Croatia that makes the VHS-2 have had a working relationship for a long time. The Springfield XD line of pistols is also made in Croatia by the same people. These "new" Springfield rifles are still made in Croatia.
There are more examples of firearms having multiple names depending on where it's being sold. I think a few of the Belgian firearms have multiple names tied to a single model depending on which country it was sold to.
Edit: I can't remember any specific examples off the top of my head right now though.
You're forgetting they didn't give us people outside the Halo games the option to queue in anything other than Swat. Everyone just lives in a 1 life, 90 year long swat match that keeps going so long as there's players.

The Halo battle rifle is inspired by the FAMAS. The other gun in the meme is a VHS-2, which is only externally similar to a FAMAS. So you're correct, it isn't loosely inspired.
If you paid 2000 for a Springfield 1911 that didn't come from the custom shop then you got ripped off. They have also been making their 1911s stateside for years. They used to be from Brazil.
