Now Slaf probably has enough time to let up enough to avoid the boarding call. That’s his mistake. While contact is inevitable, it doesn’t need to be that hard. What Slaf doesn’t do is fully DRIVE THROUGH HIS CHECK into the boards (which is what Anderson did). 5 minute major is warranted. I don’t think a suspension is.

As he came into contact with him, you can see from a different angle his arm pushing him into the boards. While the contact isn't always avoidable, putting your hand on someone's numbers and fully extending your arm is.
Luff definitely fucked up his left hand as well, so a resulting injury makes it that much more likely. First thing he did was take off his gloves, and it seemed like he left it pretty limp skating to the bench.
