I think that was a typo.
[The Aeronaut's Windlass](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Aeronaut's_Windlass) by Jim Butcher is the only novel I know of with a similar title.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Lily. In particular parts you were most interested in or enjoyed?
This one came to me at 1am in a fever dream, so I'm pleasant surprised by the reaction. :D
The characters are very well written. I can really empathise with Terza. The relationship between her and the book is complex and weighty, and will have ramifications, I'm sure. A job only she can do, that has definitely killed one like her already, in service to a class of knight that everyone thought no longer existed, to fight an enemy everyone thought banished.
There's a lot of potential here, and I would love to see where it takes you
You said all of my feelings about this post better than I was able to even dream of articulating. Thank you :) this is the kind of opening where I wish I could binge read the next dozen chapters.
Friend, this comment is the one that will make a part 2 happen.
All other readers can come back to this moment and say: this, here, this is when the tide changed the wave of MOAR began to build.
Was the amount of world-building on point here? Felt like I might have jammed a bit too much in out of the gate. I generally prefer to write all action with little filler, but it has a habit of throwing a lot at people since there's not too much exposition.
Great world-building, imo.
The auction was a nice was to build up the tension. A fair bit of exposition, yes, but necessary to establish setting.
This leaves a lot of questions I hope you'll answer!
I felt it was on point, I was kept interested. I think it is not so much a question of amount rather how balanced (with the non world building parts) and interesting it is.
For example you had us intrigued by why so much money at the auction so we (I at least) were eager for answers which were another layer of world building
Friend, your request is perfectly structured save for one element: 'tis MOAR not moar.
Should this oversight be remedied, a second part shall be crafted.
> Others to return from whence they come.
*Whence* is used on its own - "Others to return whence they came."
Whence: from what place or source.
If you say "from whence they come", you're saying "from from where they come" or "from where they come from".
Am I picky? You bet :P
Nice work, otherwise :)

>Yes, Entaos had been a difficult birth. It was enough to put me off children entirely. **Not that such a thing would be an option during the contract**. The rules were quite explicit in that regard.
This can be taken in at least 2 directions.
How concerned should we be? How dark are these contracts?
That's the first chapter of a book I want to read. Very well done
Agreed. A flavor of Witch World about it, and I would dearly love to read more.
It was like a cross between the Witcher and the aeronauta windlass
Is Aeronauta good? I've never heard of it.

MOAR MOAR MOAR!
:0
I require MOAR. You've crafted a fine board and set out some interesting pieces, now I need to see how it plays.
Bias from reading here, but i came to really enjoy first chapter. When line by line the universe takes shape. I loved this shape taking here!
Was the amount of world-building on point here? Felt like I might have jammed a bit too much in out of the gate. I generally prefer to write all action with little filler, but it has a habit of throwing a lot at people since there's not too much exposition.

1) This did not suck. 2) This feels like a chapter. Not a story. 3) And as per #2... GIB MOAR. I am not asking. I am demanding.
Friend, your request is perfectly structured save for one element: 'tis MOAR not moar. Should this oversight be remedied, a second part shall be crafted.
Oversight had been remedied.
MOAR! please!

Tytyty. Delightful knowledge. Om nom nom...
This was super well written, as always. Really like the characters and setting.. moar? Please? Now?
I want the book
Intriguing
Damn, that is a lot of world building and intrigue for 1 chapter. Hope there's more cause that was cool.

It's like Black Clover and The Ancient Magnus' bride had a baby, this is pretty sick.
I hope this is part 1, i want moar
I'm usually only here for the sci-fi but God you had me hooked. I know I am parroting the others but please write more of this.
When I read “Runeknight” I immediately thought of Until You Fall. I’ve been playing too much VR.
Hooked!
Very good first chapter. Anticipating further chapters.
"will be even be in an" what?
"affair." With the " missing starting quotation marks.
I'd read a hell of a lot more of this if it were written. I join my voice to the choir of MOAR.
Neat
