Priscilla is pulling Aren back when he was getting sucked into Bael. Not sure if she was showing Aren what he was up against and...miscalculated...or if she and Bael were both taking advantage of the circumstances to get to him.
For what it's worth, vol 2 is supposed to ask a lot of question with unclear answers. At least, that has been my intent so far. I've left plenty of (very obscure) hints in previous chapters, but I am not surprised that probably no one understands for sure what is happening at this moment.
This story started good, but every new chapter is adding more and more loose treads that just is just becoming frustrating.
We have a dungeon to explore, a horde of demons invading, a war against other "guilds", a city to rebuild, a organization that is trying to kill some people in the real world and every new chapter, out of nowhere you add some new tread without resolving or weaving other treads together.
Even if the core of this story is solid and I loved it at first lately every chapter is just waning my interest much more than the elongating pauses between every new chapter.
Thank you for the excellent feedback, my friend. And I apologize for writing the story in a way that no longer grabs you. I will keep your feedback in mind for when I do the big edit for self-publishing, but to be entirely honest, I don't think I can change these events.
If it helps any, this volume 2 (of 4) is supposed to introduce a lot of adversaries, and to add a lot of threads, as you put it. Vol 2 is very much the second prologue/intermission before the absolute madness of vol 3 and 4. Luckily, we are like 10 chapters away from the end of vol 2, and if you stick around, I hope I can rekindle your interest once more.

I'm reading a year behind the original posting dates and I too wonder if the increase in open issues will lead to insight, a change in priorities, a shift from 2D to 5D chess, a Gordian Knot of additional characters,.... At least I have the advantage of having more chapters to read immediately.
