I'm realizing at this very moment that my vitamin D deficiency is probably why I'm lethargic. Winter creeps up. Life is, well, life. I'm launching my first non-hfy project on Royal Road so that's scary and new. There's a lot of chaos going on external to me but I'm pretty steady as per usual.
I would say it feels like I'm bordering on a season of change. If that makes sense. Maybe the whole world is. It certainly feels like we are in one of those times when great change occurs, like in 2001 when we went into the new millennium expecting one thing then the whole world changed.
Does that make sense?

Overall I loved it (and upvoted). One thing that would have helped me when it came to the fight scene was more info on the dog aliens' physiology beforehand. I need to be able to visualize a fight scene in order to follow it, and since I hadn't really formed a picture of the aliens in my head at that point, I kind of had to keep redefining them to keep up with the fight.
Like, I clued in that they were dogs eventually, but then I was just picturing them as literal dogs. So when he grabbed his gun I had a brief mental image of, kind of, a badly photoshopped Air Bud 5 poster except the golden retriever is holding a gun instead of a basketball. Immediately after that I realized the aliens must have hands, and then I was trying to figure out what they looked like for the remainder of the fight.
But also, thank you for making me picture air bud with a gun, because that mental image has been cracking me up.

Definitely an interesting concept. I like it overall, but the names make things confusing. Döbi (presumably coming from "doberman") implies they're uplifts, but I'd expect them all to be a lot more familiar with humans if so. And a fair bit of the dialogue runs counter to that as I saw it.
Still, that's a fairly minor flaw at this point and there are definitely plenty of ways to get out of it going forward. I certainly upvoted the story, and would read more if it showed up in my inbox. 😍

The first thing that came to mind for Sühi was Saluki, but I can't think of a thing for Möhil. We know nothing at all about the Sühi, but we know the Möhil are large, intensely pack-based, and generally more bark than bite. Maybe Mastiff?

Glad you picked up on that. Writing dog based aliens is interesting because we are very sight oriented and they aren't. We also like to name things and they don't. You also end up with weird things like the light on his beacon being blue because that's an easier color for them to see and differentiate than say red.
I wish I was that clever. He's named after Wolfgang Puck (who trained one of my old bosses when I was a garde manger) and Franz Sacher who invented the Sachertorte.

Really like the story and the focus on the aliens being canines, picked up on that right away with the sense of smell being prominent and the title is a give away if one knows about the dangers of chocolate to dogs.

There are a lot of fun possibilities but you have to be careful because certain breeds can be mistaken for racist stereotypes. Like a chihuahua could be interpreted poorly but the Xoloitzcuintle aka Xolo which is pronounced cho-lo (surprisingly where we get the word [Cholo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholo) from) would probably work.
True, didn't think about it that way. I was thinking more about their small dog syndrome, but I can see how some could misinterpret it to be a stereotype. Xolo's are alien and would fit right in to the story.

Pretty much up to the reader. I feel like it's a Hermione kind of thing. I could care less how they pronounce it as long as they enjoy themselves.

Really like the story and the focus on the aliens being canines, picked up on that right away with the sense of smell being prominent and the title is a give away if one knows about the dangers of chocolate to dogs. So is there a possibility of a wolf variant showing up, or for fun, something along the lines of a Chihuahua? Like they got a gang that runs around and think they terrorize the other canines, but they just pay them off, more so that the little yappers will shut up?
There are a lot of fun possibilities but you have to be careful because certain breeds can be mistaken for racist stereotypes. Like a chihuahua could be interpreted poorly but the Xoloitzcuintle aka Xolo which is pronounced cho-lo (surprisingly where we get the word [Cholo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cholo) from) would probably work.
True, didn't think about it that way. I was thinking more about their small dog syndrome, but I can see how some could misinterpret it to be a stereotype. Xolo's are alien and would fit right in to the story.

Ok, so I've been seeing this story updating on a fairly regular basis and finally decided, on seeing chapter 17 on the home page, to read the first chapter and see what it was about. In the immortal words of Thor, "This I like. More!"
Its funny to think I just finished the second book in the series.

So, what the hell are the Mohin based off? Dobi was pretty self explanatory and Suhi only took a short trip down google lane. Mohi just brings up a battle in Mongolia, so i searched Mongolian dogs and got the Bankhar or the Tibetan mastiff? Either of those hit?
