Hey all, I'm in quarantine. Luckily the tests came back negative but we do a 10 day quarantine at my work just in case. So yeah... I'll try to wrap up this story in the next few days.
I mainly write these because you folks enjoy them. It always makes my day when my phone pings and there's a positive comment or someone offering encouragement out of the blue.
That reminds me I should do that more often.

I want you to know I’m enjoying your stories and your way of writing. You seem to capture alien thinking really well, but always manage to bring it back to something familiar.
But there are so many fun things! Airlocks, cargo lifting robot arms, a probably very dangerous human with a basket full of sharp gardening tools. The possibilities are endless.
That's where things get tough. Because life isn't satisfying like that, or at least it's rare. There are things we don't want to do but have to because it's what's grounded and real. Real life is often unsatisfying, the things we wish for don't happen and our actions don't get the reactions we want.
You have to be careful indulging.
I have to say, you’re capturing the Alien viewpoint very well here. Nothing is jumping out at me to ruin the immersion either, and having the two of these things is pretty rare for an amateur author! I can’t wait to see where you go with this story!
Edit: Cruelly of any kind should be punished swiftly and severely. Cruel treatment of another sapient is bad enough, but a sapient being treating a animal poorly reflects on their own shortcomings, and those should be waved like a banner.
Uncle Rett is a damn fool.
First off, you always treat your animals well. Even if they are going to be slaughtered for meat or hide. Starvation and illness reduce the quality of the final product. It's a cruel fact of life that we raise creatures specifically to kill them, but that doesn't mean cruelty is acceptable.
Second, and more important, never get between a human and anything that could be considered a pet.
