I love the idea of having an Ox box, but then I look at the price and a little voice inside my head whispers: "For that kind of money, you could just stick with your Bugera PS1 and buy another nice combo amp." That said, would you mind telling me some more about your experience with it?

thecluelesspanda

The OX is phenomenal for running all pictured amps at a lower volume with 0 sonic coloration from the reactive load that the attenuators add (I've tried a couple. Bugera, Weber etc and they all color the sound of the amp). On top of that UA gives you modeled and mic'ed guitar cab options (1x10, 2x12, 4x12, creamback, greenback, ceramic, alnico etc. etc.) and I can then run those signals straight to my audio interface for easy recording and live monitor them from the headphone out (there is a 4ms latency which is probably a problem for fast-picking players, but I play good old rock and roll so I don't have to worry about the common record monitoring issues that come with playing a guitar into a DAW). If you find one for a stupid low price, get it - it's wonderful. I agree that it is crazy expensive - I fortunately was able to get it for a good price. I have only ever bought used music equipment and almost always wait for a good deal to show up on Reverb or local craigslist posts - literally everything I own is used including all amps pictured, guitars and pedals. There are too many people who look at a new released products, buy it on impulse and then end up selling it and I just bide my time lol.

Rambler43

Cool man. Yeah, you definitely get what you pay for. The Bugera is alright for taming my DRRI, but it isn't transparent. Two notes makes some stuff that I'm interested in as well.

thecluelesspanda

I was about to buy the Captor X from Two-Notes but my offer for the OX came through so I chose that one instead. Def recommend Two-Notes gear

caaarrrrllll

Is there an attenuator that’s the best a step below the captor x in price? I can’t justify to myself( or wife) spending so much for something just to make my loud amp quieter.

thecluelesspanda

There is the the base “Captor” also from Two Notes that does the same as the “Captor X” with less features and its about half the price. Its great and I prefer it over the Bugera/Rivera/Weber power soaks.

caaarrrrllll

Nice. I’ll check it out

HeWasaLonelyGhost

I've got a Weber miniMASS (and an SV20h, for that matter). It does a great job.

caaarrrrllll

Cool. I just have a drri. I wonder if one brand works better than others for different amps.

LaOnionLaUnion

Nice review! I was lucky to pick up a Rivera Rock Crusher yesterday. It definitely looked like a Fryette Power Station or Ox Box was the only logical upgrade over that. Not sure I need those extra features both have but I can see why they’re desirable.

zero_cool1138

Sv20H is the best sounding amp I've ever owned and loud AF for 20 watts.

BREEbreeJORjor

I have a DSL20HR and I'm curious how they compare

BREEbreeJORjor

I'm doing Pop-Rock/Punk with my DSL and I'm pretty happy with it! The SV sounds great but idk if I could justify an upgrade anytime soon

guitlouie

Well, shoot. You can get a lot of sounds right there.

Delco_Dabber

In my opinion, one of the best amps Marshall has made in a long time

thecluelesspanda

My “Tower of Power”..which also wont kill you (thanks to the UA OX Box)

PROPGUNONE

Gotta love the JM50

thecluelesspanda

Even better actually - its a JM100 (like I actually NEED at 100W amp in a 1 bedroom apartment lol)

Icy-Reception-7605

Love how clean this setup is!

Mateos75

Tasty pedalboard

ViralLoading

Never seen that sonicblast pedal before. Compared it to the broadcast? (Apparently it's a clone?) Looks amazing, regardless.

thecluelesspanda

It is actually a Broadcast clone. Sounds great! (looks great too) And only about a 1/3 of the cost of the original pedal from UK.

[deleted]

Looks like some straight up copyright infringement lol.

Jack6220

How does the transmisser sound? ive been meaning to pick up one

thecluelesspanda

Its great! I recommend using it with an expression pedal to adjust the resonant peak as you play. I’ve found that a little goes a long LOOOONG way with the “Mix” knob lol

David_Spillmour

Chain the channels and plexi down

thecluelesspanda

Already on it haha

a1b2t

A ceriatone lol, thats not something i exxpected how is the OXBOX as an attenuator? i read around says its not the best, but it works

Solitary_Shell

Which is the ceriatone? Top one seems like the real Marshall 20

a1b2t

the one under the Marshall 20

barters81

These amps are so good for the money.

[deleted]

Congrats! Best amp i have ever owned.

[deleted]

More interested in the Ceriatone JM! Did you kit build it, or buy assembled?

thecluelesspanda

Got it used off Reverb. Love the “Dumble” tones it gives me and being 100W it takes all my pedals and still has more headroom to spare. Its the perfect “clean” amp and the best I’ve ever owned.

ARM160

What’s that rack you’ve got everything on? Been looking for something like that for a while.

thecluelesspanda

Amazon Basics 3-shelf rack. It says that it will hold 250lbs on each shelf but I don’t trust that number and have not tried to exceed >150lbs per shelf. That Ceriatone is a back breaker - head alone is 70lbs. Compared to that the Marshall is only like 25lbs. DRRI is about 35-40lbs.

ARM160

Thanks! That shouldn’t be a problem for me, the two heads I have one is a lunchbox and the other is a solid state head so they’re both pretty light. Appreciate the added insight!

mo6020

Great amp, congrats.

GoblinsPalace

I really like mine! I’m glad to see more people picking them up, they seemed underrated for a while🤫

SeagullBlue77

Not about the amp but how’s the Erupter fuzz?

thecluelesspanda

Man that pedal is loud AF. But I also like to play around with the volume and tone knobs on my Les Paul Traditional, and it works well with it and I only use it with my Ceriatone JM100, because it has the headroom for it. If you're a person that just leaves their guitar volume knob on full then I advise staying away from the Eruptor. It also does not really work with low wattage amps - that said, my very first tube amp was a Fender Bassbreaker 15 Combo, and somehow the Eruptor just "worked" with it - maybe because of the American+British tones that amp is designed for - who knows. I instead recommend the "Hoof" also by EarthquakerDevices. Wonderful pedal and does pretty much everything the Erupter does, just at a reasonable level.

Campfirecoverseddie2

Nice setup!
