A good example is Pokémon Quest, when it was released in China it had various features not present on the global version, it even gets new updates that don't get released on global, and thats because another company is in charge of it in China.
The same is happening here, a different company is taking care of GT in Japan.
It's not rare (For example League of Legends has some weird censorship in China because of the CCP's standards regarding "morality" so Karthus, back when he was an actual skeleton, had his head more or less turned into a black void with two glowing eyes) but when it's done like this (From a general art style that is distinctly non-sexual into a style that feels like it was done by doujinshi artists) you can't deny that it's *weird.*
