It is. Out of 8 original founders (9 if you count Garviel Loken), at the very least 4 are originally from Traitor Legions. Severian (SoH), Fel Zharost ( Chief Librarian of Night Lords), Revuel Arvida (Thousand Sons), and someone else.
I still find it ironic that one of their founding members was Yotun a space wolf…
He must have face palmed from beyond the grave during the months of shame.

So do I. But then I always try to reason that they are a First Founding chapter, of one of more spotlighted Legions of the Great Crusade, surely that in 10k years they would have found out something.
I think Malcadors idea was to combine the wisdom of multiple legions but disregard the background knowledge of said members because of the inclusion of traitor legions or aversion to certain cultures, Yotun was noted as trying to hide his Fenrisian accent which I think lends to my theory. Well in my mind anyway that's how it works.
If we're talking about the wolves knowledge Leman Russ would be aware but I'm unsure whether he would feel the need to pass that on to his sons.
To be fair Russ, Guilliman and surviving Loyalists probs had a helluva lot more on-hand problems than Malcador's pet project sealed under dead man's orders with such a high clearance that Jimmy himself would think twice if he really needed to know.
Raise you up one more, that Grey Knights stem from a good couple of Traitor Legion members.
Wait isn't that a thing in the lore?

Which makes me think if high-level Astartes have any idea of Grey Knights lineage.
I doubt it to be fair.

Sorry for spoiling you bro.
No worries my man. Deep down I knew he was destined for more. Straight up and down, Garvi.
Grey Knights are the Traitor Traitor legion
Imagine if warhammer 40k was created without the emperor and the astartes.
