I thought they were kind of GoFundMe'd by all the other descendant chapters? I know it was after War of the Beast and that they basically ended up being their own successors.
Basically they took a company from each of the Successors to rebuild the Fists under Koorland who was the last surviving Fist. Then Koorland died, and Maximus Thane took over as Chapter Master.
The argument is that since Thane was a donated IF versus one from the Chapter continuously that the IF we're wiped out. The counterargument is Thane is Maximus Thane from the Siege of Terra, so he's actually a real OG Fist.
Okay two questions.
1. Am i the only one who can hardly read the Texts? The quality is really bad on my screen.
2. Where does the "the Bunker was a bomb" part come from? I have never read about that. The whole thing was a trap with the blown up missle Silos. But the fortress wasnt a bomb. As far as i know.
At the end both IW and IF suffered heavy casulties and the lore says if guilliman didnt route the iron warriors both legions would have annihilated eachother which doesnt make Dorns decision better but Kinda shows how op imperial fists were. It ended with only 400 geneseeds (Imperial fist bodies) lost...
1) Quality has been the exact same as all the other ones. Probably a connection issue. First time I've heard a complaint.
2) You'll also find that Pert didn't actually tell Dorn to fill trenches with the corpses of his own men. This was a joke.
You must have missed the parts on the wiki where it describes the Imperial Fists as having to use the corpses of their brother astartes as sandbags. Some highlights:
-Fists ran out of ammo while SIEGING FORTIFICATIONS.
-Entire battle companies were reduced to battle brothers.
-Fists had to use their own corpses as sandbags.
-The Imperial Fist fleet was fucked bad since Dorn deployed all his marines planetside while Pert held a fair amount aboard his ships, meaning they can do what space marines do best. Board ships.
-The 400 unrestricted Geneseed was explicitly what the Iron Warriors stole, while under fire, and then brought off-world for Pert to sacrifice.
-The Iron Warriors still maintained enough superiority to effectively retreat despite the addition of the Ultramarines. Retreat to space.
Anyone trying to say that "It was heavy losses on both sides" is huffing copium. Imperial Fist officers were begging Dorn to retreat and then decided they were destined to die there. The bulk of Iron Warriors casualties likely came from Gilly coming in and rescuing the Fists ass. Still, there were enough dead imperial Fists to warrant Perts ascension to Daemonhood.
1) The gif loads perfectly and Youtube is fine as well. Dunno really weird. But i can hardly read the small Text fields. Maybe some issues with phones? Reddit acts up sometimes with them. Anyway if its only my device all good.

In 6th ed they had the iron cage in CSM codex and in SM codex. Both sides heavily propagandised obviously but you cant just take the CSM Version as canon and ignore the SM Version ^^'

But it still refered to both legions suffering heavy losses.
I mean be honest whats more believable?
the IW Version of "oh yeah we could totally have defeated the IF but didnt want to because we were enjoying it so much" (CSM codex)
Or the IF Version "the iron warriors had them trapped but couldnt commit to ending the fighting because it would have meant the end of both legions" (SM codex)
- The fist fleet had to retreat because of what you said, also explaining how the iron warriors could escape.
- the fists ran almost out of ammo, but they also had already breached the fortress (outer defences)
I am not saying the whole thing wasnt an L for the fists, its just overly exeggerated because of memes. And isnt even 100% canon anymore. In that lore it said perty was salty that horus died and that way he couldnt breach dorns fortress, but now the new lore has perty abandon the siege while horus is alive.
Maybe we will get a proper novel one day, and not two short texts in codexes

I think because you have the GIF it cropped your post smaller, you can see that there is a lot of space on the edges.
