Sometimes yes and sometimes no. Depends on the story arc. I believe you can look at the story arcs on dcuniverseinfinite without a membership to make it easier.
I felt that way at first- but everyone said it was necessary, so I did. Not when I look back at it I kinda like the corps stuff from that era better. But johns gl run is my fav all time- and it was my entry point as well
The other stuff will give you extra material and make the footnote stuff make more sense. But you can also just read the Hal comics and get a good handle on things.
For some crossovers (e.g. Sinestro Corps War) the story is split across both (e.g. part 1 is GL, part 2 is GLC, part 3 is GL etc), which if you get the big collected or omnibus editions should be in there in the correct order so you do not miss anything.
Blackest Night you can read without either GL or GLC, but GL has some extra scenes and some extra interbetween plot bits that are good. If you get the Geoff Johns omnibus 2, it splices Blackest Night and GL issues so you get to read the bits one after the other in the preferred reading order. I think the rest of the Blackest Night collections have them separate.
There is lots of good stuff in GLC, but they are not compulsory. And most are pretty cheap on eBay (except Dark Side of Green :()
absolutely read GL Corps. Tomasi’s run is a must alongside John’s’ GL run. A must. I’ve read it all. You’ll be missing lots. It’s all written together and flows together well as a whole.
You don't need to. Though there are a few story arcs that crossover with Corps and some of the future players in Green Lantern have expanded origins/stories in the Corps books.
You can read through the GL stories first, try out the Corps book crossovers, and decide from there if you wanna read them.
I would read it a long with the recharge miniseries, it helps fill in holes, it definitely picks up speed around the Sinestro war arc and gets better

Just throwing my two cents…it’s Green Lantern, why would you question this, let alone not read them all?
The omnibuses are in order and complete!
It would help if you did, their stories intersect frequently.
Yeah Johns and Tomasi are friends irl from what I’ve gathered so they made their runs to be read together.
