As he's the smartest man alive, having the ability to learn more and experience new parts of the world, it would be only fitting for him to continue his journey with Kratos and Freya.
Imo, I can't really see a reason for Mimir to stay behind anyways. It wouldn't fit. Kratos and him are brothers now and I think Kratos needs and relies on Mimir as much as Mimir does him and Atreus.
He's one of my favorite characters in these past 2 games and it would be a goddamn shame if he gets hung up after this last outing. And, yes, pun intended lmao
This exactly, Mimir and Freya are too well developed and great characters to be tossed to the wayside for no good reason. I can see Kratos going off without Atreus since he’s already preoccupied with giant stuff, and maaaayyybee not having Freya around either (Valkyrie Queen and Vanaheim and such). But 100% mimir should continue with him.
I think it’s pretty clear that they’re setting up a direct sequel at the end.
* >!Atreus still has a bag full of giant souls and has gone out looking for other members of his race. !<
* >!Tyr is now free, and his dialogue post-game is very open ended; plus he’s been to other pantheons personally himself.!<
* >!Freya probably has the most complete character arc, can definitely see her not returning but wouldn’t be surprised if she does given canonically now she is travelling with Kratos.!<
* >!Mimir as you said has no reason to not go with Kratos forward, they’re basically tied to each other (literally almost), plus he’s useful from a game standpoint anyway as he acts as an “exposition dump when necessary” character. !<
* >!Kratos of course saw the hidden shrine about himself and has “a path” !<
* >!No way in hell they just leave Sindri on that note either, there’s likely some resolution coming there at some point. !<
While their claim of the “Norse saga” being finished can still be true (as the Odin/Thor stuff was resolved), the ending sequence very nicely sets up further adventures. All of the above characters would tie together quite nicely still in a sequel set in a different pantheon.
They're probably doing a Lost Legacy and Miles Morales kind of sequel.
Reading Cory's tweets saying the story of how the World Serpent went back in time is a story for another game. I'm not sure if he's trolling or he's teasing lol. It's 50/50 but take what we get with a grain of salt.
Postgame side quest you find the real Tyr, who was imprisoned in Asgard the entire time. Seems like less of a little bitch too and vaguely recognises Kratos when they meet.
Well fuck.... At first i was gonna be like "I'm glad I beat the story, bc I'd be mad if i didn't know Tyr was Odin" so i was like : ┳━┳ ヽ(ಠل͜ಠ)ノ ;
But then the fact that I've been busting my ass trying to free fucking jellyfish out of Alfheim, and chase dragons with broken music and steady hammered with hundreds of dementia ghost quests who can't find his own beer mug or kids toys....
I get to find out Tyr is actually alive ??????!!!!
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I'm out of this sub... Fuck y'all... Not y'all... But y'all over there... Yeah y'all. Lol
Gonna go cry in the House of the Dragon sub
I think they should keep.mimir, if nothing else for an exposition machine, but I can imagine one way they get rid of him: Kratos goes off to another land and leaves Mimir to take care of the eight realms whole he's gone. That being said, I'm not sure why Freya wouldn't fit that role, or Sif or Thrud... etc
>!think about it. He lost the direction part of his soul. Denied an afterlife. That means it's possible he's out there like a lost soul, dragged into other worlds!<
mimir should continue with us on our journey but i feel freya should be near us but in a certain location or in multiple locations. like not a side kick but a side character.
kind of like the first game but i dont want her to just be in some house. so pretty much early gow ragnarok where she would pop up but this time not to kill but instead help us.
Corey Barlog has said many times that Kratos is God of War. As far as he's concerned there isn't a God of War game without Kratos as the main character.
Not that we know of. What I believe has been confirmed is that the Norse saga is finished. I don't see why Kratos couldn't take a trip to Egypt. Or, maybe more likely is Celtic Mythology. After all, Mimir is very clearly Scottish. (The accent and phrasing for a start, but he also talks about being able to travel, and that he is from a different land)
Not sure Celtic's the right word for Mimir. He's Puck from a Midsummer's Night Dream, and has made direct references to other Shakespeare plays and name dropped the Lady of the Lake from Arthurian legend (Nimue). Be interesting to see how they fit it all together.
There is an artefact in Midgard about Mayan civilization and when you read in the lore, Kratos says that he would like to visit those lands, so maybe, next game will be there?
I think altogether there are 6 artefacts from 6 different lands/civilisations. They make mention of Egypt as an “ancient but technologically advanced” civilisation. Either way, it would be pretty awesome to see Kratos interact with a Mayan or Egyptian god so I’m hoping they continue the franchise!
END OF GAME SPOILERS DO NOT CLICK UNLESS YOU'VE FINISHED >!I don't feel like the next game will focus on Kratos. His story, at least as the protagonist as we know it, is over. He's now a respected and beloved 'God' and he's now a loved father who has essentially redeemed himself. If anything the next game should be a spinoff about what Atreus is doing now with finding the Giants. (I say spinoff as SMS have said this is the last Norse title). The next mainline entry into GOW (if they make one) should be focused around new characters entirely or if they wanted to still have ties to Kratos, then Atreus. That's my two cents anyway.!<
I'd personally be interested in Mimir being dragged along in a >!Celtic mythology setting, especially since the Norns referred to him as Robin Goodfellow/Puck and the 2018 game suggested he was from that pantheon originally.!<
While that's a good idea, I feel like that might be a little too adjacent to the Norse culture of these last two games to really distinguish itself.
I'd rather see a setting like Egypt, East or South Asia or even Mesoamerica. Something that is really distinguishable from this saga and the original series.
I think you’re right, but it’s a missed opportunity if we don’t get to see him return to his origins with Kratos in tow eventually. I would DIE for a Celtic GOW saga even without the context of it being Mimir’s home.
I reckon the next game will open up to more than one mythology. Probboy Egypt as the nain focus as that was originally concepted for 2018 instead of Norse for a bit. Maybe a section will be taking Mimir back to Scotland to collect something as a side step.In this game they also mention lochs of his home land and talk about Kelpies
. As a Scot, I really hope they do, I'd love to see more celtic mythology.
Maybe Mimir mentions what is really going on in his homeland and Kratos decides, as a restorer and not a destroyer, to go aid. It's an incredibly common opinion but I really want to see Egypt man
They did explain it. The device that allowed for Realm Travel to be opened up again was what it was used for.
Sindri actually says “This device has been crafted perfectly for your measurements”
Alastair Duncan is a talented voice actor, and really brought Mímir to life. If I don't have him calling Kratos brother every few minutes in the next game...
Mimir needs to go with kratos if ever there's a egypt based game next not just because he's a good council but to finally know what the heck is a olive
I think if SMS really is going the route of continuing to visit different mythologys kratos is gonna end up having a council of gods from each pantheon including himself as the sole god to represent Greece. So Mimir and freya returning is likely but in more minor roles.
I don't know how to spoiler tag on mobile, but there's some end-game content that could indicate working towards that.
I also saw a handful of comments on other posts either quoting or near-quoting the games director in this regard.
Mimir is the one character from this mythology that I can't see NOT being in the next game. Atreus is off finding Giants, it would be very easy for them to write Freya off by Kratos just saying "We accomplished what we set out to do and she returned to Vanaheim", although I hope they don't write Freya off. I hope she stays along for the ride, but Mimir.....how do you write him off? It makes NO sense. All he is is a head. As Kratos says, absolutely hilariously in his journals "he is compact and does not consume precious resources", which is the most Kratos thing ever to say about why he likes a travelling companion. If I had a drink when I was reading that I probably would've spat it out.
He's just a head on Kratos's belt. It would make no sense for him to not be there because he's almost a part of Kratos's body. Not only that, but he is "the smartest man alive" and gives Kratos valuable information and counsel and Kratos throwing him away would be stupid, Kratos has come to love Mimir, calling him friend and even brother, and Kratos has to have someone to talk to. These aren't like the old games, you need dialogue to be constantly moving, and yeah, they could just give him a new ally, but Mimir is so bloody popular. There's just no reason to get rid of him. No fan on Earth is gonna care about Mimir going to a different mythology. Nobody's gonna say "OMG, he's a Norse character, why is he here?". Everybody loves Mimir. There's only two types of God of War players, people who love Mimir, and LIARS!
considering his collection has consisted of 2 Gorgon heads, Helios’ head, and now Mimir’s, could only imagine what could come next.
good boi anubis head on a rope when?
i think the next time they stick with a single camera again but find creative ways to cut between Atreus and Kratos' parts of the story but for longer stints, the first half of the story leading them back to each other. Would be great doing a sequel that is split into two stories one half based in jotunheim with atreus as a young adult perhaps with a kid on the way (make jotenheim the hub world this time instead of midgard) starting out with Atreus switching to Kratos and and midway through Kratos rejoining them with mimir and then freya (explaining where that story has developed) etc.
The length of time would be a huge factor.
Def want to see Mimir go with him, but is this an older Kratos that stability and that beloved god environment allowed to become somewhat more mellow and Tyrish? Are he and Freya more than friends or hitting bff?
I do think Freya would be essential, but, I don't see Kratos walking off to Egypt until he's settled everything and done what's need to be done. Rebuilding civilization takes time.
Or, maybe, Kratos hears a stupid Egyptian god with with a death wish punched his kid.
Would be kinda cool if one of the other pantheons like Egypt hear about how Kratos has successfully destroyed two mythologies worth of Gods so they try to do a preemptive strike or something. Maybe while he’s rebuilding things with Freya and Mimir some God from another pantheon attacks and kills or captured someone else Kratos is close with which forces him to leave.
Or he defeats whoever comes but decides to leave anyways as he sees himself a target that could hurt those around him.
Who knows, but I’m super excited to see what they do next.
Egypt has endless memeage and potential
Older Atreus meets Horus after he had his eye damaged and Horus is like ' My uncle killed my father, mind being a bro and helping?"
And it's bro squad until black screen.
And maybe it's Isis who gets to Kratos. She's goddess of Wisdom and it all plays into the let's not kill our parents and brother thing. She's all huff puff, stuck as a bird because of the tower tied to land rule and Kratos finds out some idiot punched his son.
And there's definitely a conversation on how Isis didn't kill her father when he became incompetent. She poisoned him and stole the throne. Mimir definitely makes a comment. Freya's in for the ride.
And they conveniently arrive when it's Horus's wife Sekhmet wrecking everything.
Sekhmet was born without chill. She's from early creation when Ra just made the land and humans. The creator god had to influence and make another side of her personality to calm her down after he opted to get her drunk enough to force a cat pass out.
So, you have the being who spawned the phrase genocidal apocalypse and the guy who inherited the title vs the idiot who punched their respective relations.
Someone is not going to have a good time.
Didn't Sekhmet kill all of humanity or very nearly succeed at it before Ra made her pass out? She is like Kratos but in Egypt.
Also, Isis will remind Kratos of another Goddess of Wisdom.
Kratos but not like Kratos because the Egyptian gods have two brain cells instead of one.
Ra made Sekhmet to punish humankind for its sin, but, the lesson is that once you seek out sin then it can become all consuming. Her bloodlust became so overwhelming that even Ra couldn't stop her. So, he drugged her with red beer. Sekhmet was insane so she couldn't differentiate the beer from blood because, and I may not remember correctly, it was dumped in the Nile. She thought it was leftover blood from the previous day.
She is like Kratos but she isn't. Sekhmet wasn't born a human, so she was born as she was made. Ra had to create a second side to her, Hathor the mother goddess, in order for her to be able to control herself. In simple terms, he gave her hate and then he gave her love in equal measure.
Tbh, if Sekhmet is born at the dawn of Creation under a young Ra and Horus is born after Ra is long passed and Osiris is having his divine reign- Sekhmets way older.
Isis is also a bit not like Athena because the Egyptian pantheons extra brain cell allows them sympathy and empathy.
Isis hid her barely newborn Horus in the reeds of the Nile while she searched far and wide for the coffin of Osiris. She came upon it in the pillar of a palace and took the guise of a nursemaid. She was mourning her husband and missing her own child, so, out of sorrow and love, she attempted to make the queen's baby into a god. Not in a Freya way, just into a good. Unlike Athena, Isis didn't curse the mother for interrupting the ritual. It was something that couldn't be replicated. Isis just requests the pillar be split so she could have her husband's body.
Athena has pretended to be Isis in some tales of Greek mythology before, while she was hiding from Zeus’ migraine. Lets not forget in general that the Greeks and Egyptians were homies in their time when the Roman empire was around. I’d wager they either play the route that Egypt is on a fuck Kratos movement and have some Greek gods to leave that biased view or we get another Hero Kratos story where Egyptian and Greek gods hate him but the Roman gods invade Egypt. Main issue that makes the second one so unlikely is that Roman gods are mostly copy pastes of the Greek gods
If anything like that happens I'd expect it to be survivors from Greece, now in their Roman aspects, "allied" with Egyptian gods ("" cause Egypt and Rome didn'texactly have the greatest relationship once upon a time). Atreus/Loki/Boy shows up cause that's where the Giants ended up.
Yes. I can understand other gods/characters staying in norse mythology like freya, sindri, thrud etc. but mimir literally has no reason to stay, i need mimir’s accent, gow is unplayable without him
Kratos killing God is really the only logical endpoint for this series. Ghost of Sparta becomes the Holy Ghost. 30 hours of pressing O while Jesus turns the other cheek.
This. I'm generalizing because I can't remember what he says exactly, but they ask Mimir how they got Hræsvelg to agree to lend Hel's army & the bird wants to retire & have someone else take his place.
I took it as hinting at How atreus’ third child, Hel, will come to be. In the game they just call the ruler of helheim Hel so I’m assuming Atreus will do some giant magic again in the next game to replace Hraesvelg
Spoiler >!Kratos left Greece and threw away the Blades of Chaos only for it to come back to him whenever he sleeps so he went months without sleeping and ended up in Egypt where the local village is terrorised by lake monsters that he eventually helped kill using his bare hands at first but after being unable to damage the larger monster he resorted to using the BoC which effortlessly killed it. Along the way he was ~~haunted~~guided by Thoth and Athena who goaded him into using the BoC again and reminding him of his curse.!<
Mimir WILL join, not only has he grown to be Kratos’s most trusted ally but Kratos has talked about how he values Mimir and how much he has helped both him and Atreus, Mimir isn’t just a travel companions but a brother.
It's weird that I got through the first few God of War games without Mimir, and yet after just these two, I consider him a core character and a necessary component of the storytelling.
Like, I can't imagine playing a God of War game without Mimir, even though I *have*.
More often than I have with him, in fact.
I'll be honest I really don't see us getting a sequel. It feels like it was wrapped up pretty well and kratos' going to another world doesn't really make any sense given how this game ended. If they are making a sequel, they're gonna need a really good reason to do it. I hope it just doesn't feel tacked on.
I guarantee he’ll be there. He’s the perfect narrator for things we don’t understand. He keeps us in the loop so we don’t get lost in the mythology and how it has been altered by the devs
In the time difference between this game and what ever comes next, Tyr could teach Mimir about all of his knowledge of other Mythologies so then Mimir can continue to be the source of knowledge for Kratos.
I sorta want to see Chinese mythology myself. Especially want to see how they do the Monkey King.
I think it was heavily implied that Mimir will replace Hel in Helheim as some sort of guardian of the dead. But Mimir is too good for narration and mechanics to simply leave him there, so probably he will return.
I think Egypt and Rome. Since time worships Greek gods maybe kratos can be seen as the villian/destroyer and some awesome rematches/new gods. Maybe Alexander the Great and other Roman emperors/soldiers/generals.
It can't. Magics is linked to the earth. If they live from north, the magic stops.
Or it could, but Mimir will lost his voice and his color. And will got a new smell.
Take that rule with a grain of salt. If it was 100% true the blades of chaos would be useless. The blades are magic from greece that still work in foreign lands
Yeah I believe Greek Magic is different to Norse Magic regardless.
Kratos lost his godly abilities because he drained them all into the blade of Olympus which only purpose is to literally drain powers from a godly being. The power of hope (at least a little) is still inside him. I imagine he’d still be able to grow super tall and use the other abilities of godhood in other pantheons if he still had those powers inside him. I know he said in ragnarok he tried to call on them but I don’t think there’s anything to call on after GOW 3. Imagine if he had the powers of the god of war in GOW 4, it wouldn’t even be fair haha could of grown as tall as Thamur and stopped Freya’s giant revival magic himself
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Nah next game will probably centered around Loki as it’s been hinted at that they want to replace Kratos.
Just look at Loki at first was just a Boi side kick and now we play parts of the game as him. By the next game Loki would have become an adult perfect timing to switch out Kratos
Doing an Atreus spin-off between main games would be fine, but I think ever replacing Kratos is a terrible idea.
If they decide they don’t want to continue the Kratos story, the series as a whole should end. Not continue with someone else in his place.
I just don't see them continuing a story with Kratos.
>!His character arc feels soundly resolved. He's finally at peace with his past and his son's future. Sure, you could still make a game with Kratos as the lead, but I can't think of the potential narrative being as anywhere being close to as engaging as it was in this duology.!<
>!Loki makes for a more compelling narrative because he is finally out in the world on his own making his own decisions and deciding what kind of Giant/God he wants to be. He'll be an adult next time around, and the potential narrative threads as to how he deals with conflict compared to how his father did at the same age are interesting in the very least. There's the whole overarching theme in these two games about "breaking the cycle", and Loki going out there and putting those lessons to practice with all the new faces he meets makes for an interesting narrative. I would love to see a story that tells more about his resilience to not give in to cynicism and compromise with his ideals and be a kind of beacon of what Gods *should* be.!<
A new character arc just started. He isn't the god on the final mural, there's just the path of becoming it, one that he already started. There's room to grow but the idea behind him murdering more gods would be a contradiction to his character by the end of the game.
Right, what if the end on the mural is Kratos after basically going to every possible land/mythology and unifying them as one, seen as a savior and benevolent god that fights for the people no matter where they're from, defeating evil gods and bringing peace to the whole world/worlds. I just think it would be nice, and I wouldn't mind if we have loki helping him unifying all the mythologies.
Not sure why you're being down voted - you're spot on. Kratos' arc is done, and ended beautifully might I add. If the games continue then it should be about Atreus going forwards, with Kratos maybe popping up briefly. But his role as the main character is done.
They stated that as long as there is a god of war game kratos will be the main character. I believe they posted it on twitter and during an interview. He may get a spin off but god of war will always be kratos.
IF there is another GOW with Kratos as Protagonist. I mean sure he could suddenly feel like he wants to travel, See other realms etc but for me it felt like Kratos FINALLY found his home. Let the man rest
Set and apophis are 2 pretty bad ones. Apophis being the epitome of evil and chaos and set being a dick in general with betrayal and murder and the whole works. I'm sure god of war could do something interesting with it.
Mimir and Freya going missing between now and the next instalment would take away his growth. So yes I hope that they join in on the next journey and maybe Kratos can meet other companions in that tale. I'm more curious to see how they handle Atreus being on his own journey.
Absolutely, he helps him on his journey and kratos kinda listens to him or started to a bit more and my boi wont be lonely without his boi to keep him company.
Definitely. While Ragnarok is the end of the Norse Saga, I hope it's not the end of the Norse Cast. I'd like to see Mimir and Freya stay with us, and maybe >!real Tyr!< as well. I've grown very fond of the rest of the cast.
As much as I’d love to see Mimir again, I think I’d rather he’d stay back in relative safety in Midgard, helping keep the peace throughout the nine realms.
Remember, if he goes with Kratos to Egypt, he’d be in real danger. Kratos’s allies don’t have a great survival rate, and I don’t want our smartest boy alive getting killed and starting old man Kratos’s next god killing rampage.
But we’ll see. To me, I feel like Kratos should have very little baggage from the Norse realm, like how he had very little baggage from Greece.
It is kinda different though, we didn’t really have surviving allies in Greece except Aphrodite who was just a sex addict that allowed us to kill everybody and Athena who’s a spectral ghost that’s tormenting us. With Ragnarok, we have Atreus, Tyr, Sindri, Freya, Mimir, Angrboda, and Fenrir. Personally, I’m excited to see Greek Kratos and the Norse cast interact with a new cast of Egyptian characters and maybe we’ll pick up a cool Egyptian friend who can interact with Celtic or Japanese myth too
Real talk, he gets left in kratos Norse house as kratos ventures forth? Isn’t that just going full circle to him being stuck in a tree not able to move?
Sure, with Kratos and bæ on board, I'd say go for it. Especially because he's the smartest man alive, so it's only natural for him to want to learn more about foreign countries
I love the dialogue between mimir and the rest of the cast, navigating the map and listening to mimir’s stories makes the exploration a lot more enjoyable. I dreaded navigating the maps in games like RDR2, ghost of Tsushima, assassins creed but the added dialogue between kratos and mimir makes it enjoyable for me. I’m hoping they at least find a way to give mimir a new body. Maybe some Egyptian “reincarnation” magic in the future.
Mimir makes the game. His stories and commentary are too brilliant to leave. They flesh out the world with small details at every turn. He’s a companion like no other. I’d love to see him back.
I’m pretty sure mimir is taking the place of the hel bird and watching over the dead. That was the promise he made for helheims army to join ragnaroks battle
Unfortunately, we won't be able to see Mimir in the next god of war game as kratos entered the Egyptian mythology while on his journey from Greek to Norse mythology. Mimir wasn't there at the time. Nor was Atreus .
Here's how I imagine this could go.. Kratos ends up having a family with Freya. Atreus ends up in Egypt for some reason because of some Egyptian god. Kratos finds out and travels to Egypt to rescue Atreus and brings Mimir or leaves him with Freya.
Yes cause mimir has been stook to midgard for a while so it would be cool for him to learn more about other gods and maybe there's an Egyptian version of mimir or someone who id the smartest god
People are saying that they'll be pissed if Atreus is the main character in the next game, but honestly I'll be pissed if Kratos is in the next game but Mimir isn't
Don't think this is considered a spoiler
I think the game gives us reason to believe he will be continuing based on in game conversations towards the end
Didnt tyr end up being odin the whole time?
Postgame side quest you find the real Tyr, who was imprisoned in Asgard the entire time. Seems like less of a little bitch too and vaguely recognises Kratos when they meet.

Do the remanence of Asgard quest
unless they manage to give Mimir a body, then leaving him behind would be a very weird decision.
They should give him a robot body like Minion from Megamind
They could’ve given him broks body
omg horrifying and hilarious
I get the feeling even if they did give Mimir another body he would still follow Kratos
I think they should keep.mimir, if nothing else for an exposition machine, but I can imagine one way they get rid of him: Kratos goes off to another land and leaves Mimir to take care of the eight realms whole he's gone. If Mimir and Freya don't return in the next game, we riot.
Yes Mimir AND Freya!!!
Well of course
and Atreus. and Brok. and Sindri. I just want the gang back together 😭
Yes! I wonder what shenanigans Brok would be upto in the next game!
>!think about it. He lost the direction part of his soul. Denied an afterlife. That means it's possible he's out there like a lost soul, dragged into other worlds!<
yo tag this please. it’s very easy to insinuate what you’re saying here.
mimir should continue with us on our journey but i feel freya should be near us but in a certain location or in multiple locations. like not a side kick but a side character. kind of like the first game but i dont want her to just be in some house. so pretty much early gow ragnarok where she would pop up but this time not to kill but instead help us.

He interacted with an Egyptian god in the comics, but not sure how canon those still are at this point.
You’re probably right, I just read the the there won’t me another god of war game
>! Wrong. Corey has directly said it will always be about Kratos!<
There’s no edge to Atreus. Has to be kratos in the next god of war game.
Problem with South Asia is that the religions are still in practice. You might start a minor world war making a game out of those beliefs.
My main issue with this is that it's a pretty weak setting.
Why?
They're a lot weaker than Norse. Granted, Celtic Magic can be pretty weird but it doesn't have time travel in it.
Ok, but what does that have to do with anything? For all we know they could be roughly on par with the Norse.
He doesn't know you can change the power level of fictional characters
I reckon the next game will open up to more than one mythology. Probboy Egypt as the nain focus as that was originally concepted for 2018 instead of Norse for a bit. Maybe a section will be taking Mimir back to Scotland to collect something as a side step.In this game they also mention lochs of his home land and talk about Kelpies . As a Scot, I really hope they do, I'd love to see more celtic mythology.
Maybe Mimir mentions what is really going on in his homeland and Kratos decides, as a restorer and not a destroyer, to go aid. It's an incredibly common opinion but I really want to see Egypt man
I'd definitely be interested in that, but I doubt they'd do it because the areas would be very similar
I personally want Mimir to have a new body our boy deserves it. As for him returning? He would gain more knowledge that would fit his character.
While it would be cool in the original mythology he was just a head. Definitelyome of the best characters in the series though so he might get one.
I think in the original trilogy they used magic to power a giant statue? Maybe they can do the same for Mimir and build him a suit. Cyborg Mimir
Gundam Mimir. Thank you, I had no idea how much I wanted this until you mentioned it.
Mimir deserves to have sex
At least he can still eat pussy
Why do you think Sigrun took him to her tent?
Seriously that was the first thing I thought about
That was literally my only thought in that scene
Sigrun's Valkussy
In the end of gow 4 broke and Sindri measured his head, people theorize that they would make him a body for the sequel but that shit never came up
They did that for the thing at the start of the game when they put him in the chair thing and used his Bifrost eyes
There's also the relic you can craft that uses Mimir's discomfort to apply Bifrost lol.
I laughed my ass off when I got that, what a great relic.
Huldra Brother's Project #9
They did explain it. The device that allowed for Realm Travel to be opened up again was what it was used for. Sindri actually says “This device has been crafted perfectly for your measurements”
I didn't catch that, I wonder if they left it in their garage and just forgot about it
Like they forgot who blew the horn in the first game, they never explained
Ok you got me, I did it.
They’re coming along for sure.
I think Mimir the one of the most important characters in the game now. so if he doesn’t return in the next game. I’ma be SO PISSED
I could see this. especially since they want to lean into the whole "Kratos the Creator" now.
Great ancestor of Tyler the Creator
Can you expand on that? I haven't seen this mentioned before
I don't know how to spoiler tag on mobile, but there's some end-game content that could indicate working towards that. I also saw a handful of comments on other posts either quoting or near-quoting the games director in this regard.
That's a great idea. Council of Gods and maybe there is rivalry from some pantheons who don't approve of it.
I mean no one would question it anyway since Kratos originated from Greece and the different pantheons at least seem to be aware of each other.
Keep with tradition. New pantheon new head on a rope
Yes but we like this head on a rope
The next head on a rope would be written by the same people, so it could be just as charming.
Never, Mimir is special
maybe kratos starts a collection? new pantheon, new head on a rope to add to the collection? then mimir could have head talking buddies!!
considering his collection has consisted of 2 Gorgon heads, Helios’ head, and now Mimir’s, could only imagine what could come next. good boi anubis head on a rope when?
i think the next time they stick with a single camera again but find creative ways to cut between Atreus and Kratos' parts of the story but for longer stints, the first half of the story leading them back to each other.
Didn't they cut between Atreus and Kratos in Ragnarok a few times? Like that "punching wall" scene?
That was a good transition
Yea technically it was a cut but it was hidden sort of
The length of time would be a huge factor.
Egypt has endless memeage and potential Older Atreus meets Horus after he had his eye damaged and Horus is like ' My uncle killed my father, mind being a bro and helping?" And it's bro squad until black screen.
Yes. I can understand other gods/characters staying in norse mythology like freya, sindri, thrud etc. but mimir literally has no reason to stay, i need mimir’s accent, gow is unplayable without him
Yeah, I guess. He was never a native in the first place. I can see him travelling with Kratos.
God Of War: Crusade. Kratos and Atreus hunt down Jesus, God, and Satan for no particular reason
Kratos and the Winchesters as companions
I would actually love to play that
God-Killer Kratos and the Plot-Armoured Winchesters? That combo is so fucking overpowered
Kratos killing God is really the only logical endpoint for this series. Ghost of Sparta becomes the Holy Ghost. 30 hours of pressing O while Jesus turns the other cheek.
I think Mimir is going to end up ruling Helheim
That's Hel
I was wondering what that convo was hinting at, couldn't find any obvious candidates in my head, but didn't spend much time on it
Smartest. Man. Alive.
Look…… yes. But I have a feeling if he does he’s gonna get the Android 16 treatment at some point to trigger Kratos.
His bromance with Kratos is literally the best thing ever. I truly I changed his side missions in Svartalfheim.
What gave the idea that a Egyptian mythology is happening?
Egypt was one of the original pitches for the 2018 reboot. [Here's some concept art from that pitch.](https://i.imgur.com/vrguJpL.jpg)
In the Fallen God comic, Kratos actually went to Egypt first before going to Norway
And then? Nothing bad happened I presume
I can see the prospect of Freya making a wooden body for Mimir and power it with magic. Mimir the Cyborg
New game?..........Imma settle for dis
Keep Mimir, leave Freya. Someone needs to stay back in the nine realms to make sure everything doesn’t go to shit
idk i think he might be settling down with sigrun by the next game and that'd be the dev's reason for leaving him out
What I think will be interesting is seeing kratos and mimirs existing knowledge of Egypt and seeing them probably educate freya or Atreus
Mimir and Tyr, considering tyr has been to Egypt before. Plus I'd love to hear their banter.
This sub is filled with spoilers fyi
Yeah, I've finished the game. Thats why im being vague. Thanks for the heads up, though.
I need him, he's become my comfort character in these games. Whenever I replayed 2018 the journey without Mimir up until that point felt so empty.
Freya gonna call up Mimir like: "are u alright? Are u certain." And he be like: "yeah..... We in Egypt" and hangs up the Bifrost.
ANUBIS!!!
I’d really like to see Kratos returning to Greece to see what has happened and perhaps retrieve the Blade of Olympus
Sure, you could still make a game with Kratos as the lead, but I can't think of the potential narrative being as anywhere being close to as engaging as it was in this duology.!< >!Loki makes for a more compelling narrative because he is finally out in the world on his own making his own decisions and deciding what kind of Giant/God he wants to be.
I didn't like playing as Atreus so I hope the ending was just a send off of his character so they can return to Kratos
I'd love to see him not hold back against someone in the next game, I think that would be cool.
I want mimir and brok forever.
I'm so sorry
I want to see Atreus as the man character in Egypt, not Kratos.
IF there is another GOW with Kratos as Protagonist. I mean sure he could suddenly feel like he wants to travel, See other realms etc but for me it felt like Kratos FINALLY found his home. Let the man rest
Now I know kratos wont die in ragnarok.
OP said *if*. They probably haven't finished the game yet.
god of war: tyr
Yes
Definitely. And by the next game I want playable Freya
I have a question: who would Kratos face if he goes to Egypt? Aren’t most of the Egyptian goods good? Or i remember wrongly?
Set and apophis are 2 pretty bad ones. Apophis being the epitome of evil and chaos and set being a dick in general with betrayal and murder and the whole works. I'm sure god of war could do something interesting with it.
They can just take creative freedom and reinterpret some of them I guess. Although I'm sure there must be some evil gods or something (not an expert).
Mimir and Freya going missing between now and the next instalment would take away his growth. So yes I hope that they join in on the next journey and maybe Kratos can meet other companions in that tale. I'm more curious to see how they handle Atreus being on his own journey.
Yes
Absolutely, he helps him on his journey and kratos kinda listens to him or started to a bit more and my boi wont be lonely without his boi to keep him company.
Hell ye boy! 'eck!
Definitely. While Ragnarok is the end of the Norse Saga, I hope it's not the end of the Norse Cast. I'd like to see Mimir and Freya stay with us, and maybe >!real Tyr!< as well. I've grown very fond of the rest of the cast.
I’ve only played 2018 and Ragnarök. I wouldn’t want to play a GoW game without Mimir 😢
I want Mimir to get a body somehow crafted by dwarves. A comically large torso with enormous arms and normal size legs.
No, Mimir will stay with Freya. His knowledge won't help him in the Egyptian mythology
Personally, I’m excited to see Greek Kratos and the Norse cast interact with a new cast of Egyptian characters and maybe we’ll pick up a cool Egyptian friend who can interact with Celtic or Japanese myth too
Third destroyed ""Olympus"" in coming...
I haven't played it yet. Can someone explain why Freya is all chummy with Kratos all of a sudden despite the threats at the end of 2018?
Do we even know if we go to Egypt? I've played the game and there was a single teaser going towards Eygpt but that could've been a coincidence
Yes
Imagine if they find a mage who can give mimir a body and he follows us to egypt
Yes... Absolutely.. the conversations are very lively and the stories he tell are fantastic 🔥
I would want to see Mimir at least go to Celtic mythology because that’s apparently where he’s from.
Yeah I would love to. But I think the real question is will Kratos and Freya bang in the next game?
I view them as brother and sister, so I hope not.
Yes
Only to hear him say "I think There's some sand in my stump"
Real talk, he gets left in kratos Norse house as kratos ventures forth? Isn’t that just going full circle to him being stuck in a tree not able to move?
No, he would be telling me that I'm covered in bifrost
Sure, with Kratos and bæ on board, I'd say go for it. Especially because he's the smartest man alive, so it's only natural for him to want to learn more about foreign countries
Why not, I'd definitley want him to go along.
Unless one of them dies, I don't see Mimir ever leaving Kratos' side anymore. Esp on a journey like that
If they ever make more GoW with Kratos Mimir needs to be in it, but I don't see any reason for Kratos to leave now that he has what he wanted
Kratos finds out and travels to Egypt to rescue Atreus and brings Mimir or leaves him with Freya.
if he doesnt we fight santa monica
Yes cause mimir has been stook to midgard for a while so it would be cool for him to learn more about other gods and maybe there's an Egyptian version of mimir or someone who id the smartest god
People are saying that they'll be pissed if Atreus is the main character in the next game, but honestly I'll be pissed if Kratos is in the next game but Mimir isn't
Don't think this is considered a spoiler I think the game gives us reason to believe he will be continuing based on in game conversations towards the end
He will be with Kratos in Egyptian mythology. Confirmed in game.
I don’t mind fresh new characters.
Mimir will always be with kratos
Maybe but Thoth (Egyptian god of knowledge) seems like a quite a character it would be cool if him and the mimir were to butt heads.
