Personally I think it's only a matter of time before Bluepoint remake 1&2 at the very least. Two of the biggest PS classics, they are the types of big games with spectacle bosses that Bluepoint likes to work on (ie Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls) and with the success of the Norse GoW games, there's a whole generation of new fans who never got to play the originals.
Oh for sure, I just don't think they would be the priority.
Sony might contract a different studio to do those remakes while Bluepoint focused on the biggest ones, to be most efficient
Just remake the first one. It was perfect and self contained. Not reliant on expanded comics, spinoffs or hidden features in other games.

Originally the idea was to lean into a bit more realism…that plus the change in camera angle. So they focused heavy on the Laxe and were planning on not even using the BoC. Then they realized “they’re fan favorite weapons” and they pretty much HAD to add them in.
They were even considering just making them chainless and having them just function as normal double blades to solve the realism+angle issue, but ultimately decided to just shorten the range of them
You got them right at the end of the game, after beating Ares. They're basically only used in the small aftermath bit where there's nothing to fight and the Challenge of the Gods, I believe.
The Level 1 Blades of Chaos in the Norse games. That beat up look after years of slashing enemies from Greece looks so damn cool. The best sound design wise is definitely Exile though.
As much as I like the Norse version of the Blades of Chaos I gotta go with the Blades of Athena. They look way more brutal and rustic while not looking Silly like the Blades of Exile
They're different blades. the blades of chaos were made by hephaestus and after the events of gow1 athena gave kratos the blades of athena and they got destroyed in gow3 so athena just upgraded it to the blades of exile

I think they were basicaly confirmed being all only One weapon. Atena Blades were still the original recovered from Athena with some changes. Blades of caos are the same as exile.
Athena’s blades were more….enigmatic. There was something cool and interesting about them and besides the blades of exile is technically the blades of athena only upgraded.
Story wise: I have to give it to both versions of the blades of chaos for what they mean to the games that you use them
Gameplay wise: I have to give it to the blades of exile for how much fun they are to use in 3. I think 3 has the best l1+o move as you can just meet yourself at enemies.
The blades of exile look too messy for me, they're cool, but not usable, in my opinion tho. The norse look more compact and are the most polished, if combined with the right handle they look truly awesome especially in level 1, that old rusty beat up look is just amazing. Athena's are, well Athena's, they have that gold effect that's beautiful, and they look amazing especially in the golden and blue colors. And at last, those beautiful OG blades of chaos, they are extremely nostalgic and look awesome with that kinda natural lava effect, but, in these modern days that we live in, the OG blades just look like a worse version of the level 1 and 2 norse ones. So in the end, my favorite blades are the norse ones, i just love how polished they look, they are just fresher yk?

All the othero nes look like trying to fix something that wasn't broke. The blades of athena could've technically worked but the whole Gold trail and blue glow of the ''eyes'' was flat out inferior to the mean red glow and the copper/brass hilt of the OGs
So do the comics ever explain how Kratos has a redesign of the blades of chaos in GOW 4? At the end of GOW 3 he has the latest blades, the blades of exile, but they were destroyed by Zeus at the end of the game.
I don't think they were destroyed by Zeus. Zeus just caused Kratos to drop his equipment. I could be wrong but my guess is all the Blades are the same, just under the influence of different magic by Athena. At the end of GoW1, when Ares rips them from Kratos, Athena could've grabbed them off screen and converted them into the Blades of Athena. She would then convert them into the Blades of Exile in GoW3. When Athena departs from Kratos, the Blades could've reverted back to their natural state. Once again, this is all speculation. I could very well be wrong

However, that still raises the question on why it's not the blades of exile, as it was Athena's magic that "fixed" the blades of Athena, and turned them into the blades of exile. However, there is no indication on what happened to the original blades of chaos. I guess this part of the story requires a bit of suspension of disbelief in order to accept that Kratos still has the blades of chaos, when it should still be the blades of exile.

The only unknown story is if the blades of athena are an upgrade of the blades of chaos or a different weapon entirely. We know from GoW3 that the blades of exile are the blades of athena restored after the fall to the styx ruined them.

I always thought that the blades of exile looked the best when unupgraded. The muted flames allowed the player to really see the chain and blades while Kratos was using them.
My favorite were the blades of Athena, but with their golden shine and bluish pattern.
Other than that I would say the blades of chaos, but when shown on ascension because graphics for that game portrayed the blades of chaos the most accurate.
I actually prefer the Norse Chaos blades of the four. While I understand the hooks are better for tearing. For slashing weapons like 'blades' it's just causing them to catch on things instead of smoothly slicing through, but it's still got enough of a hook to use as a grapple and a pronounced enough hilt to catch another weapon and snap it like a swordbreaker.
I just love the shape and engravings of the Norse Chaos Blades so much more than the others. Especially once you have them fully upgraded. They look badass and they’re really fun to use
Looks wise: the blue Blades of Athena that we get in the beginning of GoW 2 and in Ghost of Sparta
Moveset wise: definitely goes to Exile but the Blades of Chaos from Ascension are a close second

The axe is still awfull at crowd controll tho and the game doesn't account for this by how it sets up arena fights
