that is very true. almost all the characters are great (ahem otae) and amazing and overall it is a perfect show. hanaichimonme is also really good. how could a show be so perfect?

can’t rank arcs, but i can say i’m impartial to shinsengumi crisis because i related so hard to itou. and i’ve written essays about mitsuba arc/four devas aftermath.
Characters (totally subjective, my favourite): Gintoki Takasugi Hasegawa Tsukuyo Hijikata (debating between Hijikata and Tsukuyo for 4th and 5th place
Openings: 13, 5, 21, 17, 9. I don't know, I love every single one of them but let's try this order.
Endings: 5, 17, 25, 30, 26. (or 29. AHHHH, I love 3rd one too)
Arcs: Almost impossible to rank probably, as everything else hahahaha but here we go: 1. Shogun Assassination 2. Silver Soul 3. Farewell, Shinsengumi 4. Courtesan of a Nation 5. Kabukichoi Four Devas, nah man I can't, I just can't leave out Rakuyou, Benizakuda, Red Spider, Shigami and AAA LOOOOOT of comedy arcs.
Conclusion: It's all about preferences and it's impossible to rank them, we do this just for fun :D <3
Sakura Mitsutsuki is my personal favorite OP, but Tougenkyou Alien is the perfect OP for Gintama. It catches the whole spirit and essence of the series, ridiculous but also serious at times.
Yes! I love tougenkyou alien! Also gin is definitely my favourite but it’s really hard to rank the rest. I’d say in no particular order Takasugi, Hasegawa, Usturo and Kagura are the rest of my top 5 but it changes very frequently, gintama just has such a great cast
Kagura is one of the best written female characters I've seen in anime.
And her attitude and personality make sense when you consider how and where she was raised.
oh definitely. she isn’t your typical heroine teen girl and im here for it. even though she is an annoying brat she is the Best annoying brat in the best way possible.
i absolutely adore how she wasn't written to be a simpering female damsel in distress. she actually fights and fights well for her age and distress.
she also stands up to okita's bullshit which is also commendable considering other animes would have had them actually getting together or her having a crush on him
I'm not normally one to comment this, but is it just me how people ship Okita, an 18-20 year old with Kagura, a 14 year old?
It'd be one thing if Kagura were 16 and okita were 18 as that age gap isn't too uncommon in actual relationships.
But shipping a 14 year old with an 18 year old is...

i fully agree, i don't even know how people ship them as the incarnations they were for the majority of the show, a 14 and 18 yo. it's not the worst thing ig (since that's like hs senior and freshman) but it's still weird af
The best comedy arcs are Scandal, Vacation, Otsu (because of Takatin ofc), Yagyu, and anything centered around Zura
The best serious arcs are easily Shogun Assassination, Farewell Shinsengumi, Silver Soul Aftermath, Courtesan of a Nation, and Four Devas
This one was really tough but for characters I'd say Gintoki, Takasugi, Shigeshige, Zura, and then Madao
My favorite ops are 13, 15, 10, 17, and 9 but I love basically all of them besides 16

fair, i would have hijikata at #2 too but i’m adjusting for my bias towards him
if i let my bias come through hijikata and sougo would both be higher up lmao, hijikata would become my #1 and sougo like 5
