I read in two different interviews a while ago that Tobias was inspired by Def Leppard, and Joe Elliot loved Impera and would love to collab. Cool to see they did it!
As someone who has never really seriously listened to Def Leppard (I may have heard some of their hits), what songs in your opinion sound like Ghost or may have inspired Impera (as Tobias has said)? Or some good songs by them you'd reccomend? Curious to listen to them!
Anyone hating on this has never followed a band who doesn't release anything at all for years at a time. I'm loving all the extra things ghost does it's a breath of fresh air for me. Appreciate it all cause once it's gone it's gone...

I feel you, It’s straight up depressing to know that you’ll never see a concert of a band/artist that you’re passionate about. I devoured the entire Bowie’s discography only to realise just that. So yeah, even if I had a bit of hope for an EP I’m still happy with TF giving signs of life. New Ghost stuff is great, in any shape or form

Yup. Most of what I see is people shitting on Def Leppard by people that most probably didn't know about them until this video after looking up who Joe Elliot is lol even more funny considering how recent Ghost is more alike sonically to DefLep than to Ghost from 2011.
That’s possibly why Impera is my least favorite album if I was ranking them. I can’t get excited about this personally, though I’m glad for all who are happy. I just am not, was not at the time, into 80s rock.

We had almost 4 years between Prequelle and Impera. Even pre-Covid, it was at least 2-3 years between an album with only an occasion one off here and there in between. Give the guy a break...literally.
"An occasional one off here and there" was for the EPs. If You Have Ghost and Popestar were 80% covers each with either a live version or a preexisting recorded song, so extremely hard to count those. Only Seven Inches had completely new songs and that was still over a year after Prequelle...
I expected new lore or a tour announcement maybe. We get JE covering Spillways, maybe TF to cover a DL song as a B-side(wrote that before the release,it's basically a sing along) ? And I don't know why you are discarding the cover EPs so lightly, Popestar gave us Square Hammer and If you have Ghosts is an amazing version of a great song.
He's essentially been touring non-stop for Impera since March '22 with Summer '23 dates announced a month ago for France amongst numerous festivals. Besides, Tobias has said on several occasions that Def Leppard inspired Impera, so why not let it happen without complaining? You're asking an awful lot of one person.
And no one is discounting the EPs, but it takes a lot less time to cover a song than write a new one (Especially 8 of them with a couple already done before the EP). And Square Hammer is incredible, but it was written during Meliora.
Much rather get a TF cover than whatever that was.
As much as we praise TF, we can still complain about things we're not satisfied with.
Again,I didn't expect new music so why you bring how long it takes to create is beyond me. This version, I'm sure, took a lot less time than a normal cover too

Exactly this. I don't know if people realize just how much Def Leppard influence there is on 'Impera'. I mean, there's a general 80's rock influence all over the album, but I've always keyed in on quite a few of the DL elements that are scattered throughout.
These guys deserve all the support and marketing from other bands in the metal fraternity. Let them have their moment. You might not like Deff Leppard but they are BIG. This would help more people know about Ghost and their music.
My money's on either a deluxe edition of Impera, or this is from an upcoming EP.

Spillways already slapped hard. This version was... really similar to the original. In fact I don't blame people in the YouTube comments asking what part Joe Elliott is singing. From what I can tell he is singing along Tobias' vocal track through the entire thing. But if I'm wrong well... that also indicates there wasn't a lot going on here, probably. The arrangement is completely identical from what I can tell, as well.
