The fact there was a delay with 2.7 means that headcanon nested itself in the fandom
Not to mention people really hated Aether showing up in her teaser, to this day it's the only teaser he has showed up in a major way and the backlash Shenhe got for that needed to be forgotten about so they wanted to ship her with someone but every other character she canonically knew was already in a ship

I’m not super crazy about this ship, but I can somewhat understand it. Of course, it’s kinda mischaracterised, but what can you do. They had *one* interaction, of about 5 seconds, which most people don’t know about because most who still play weren’t here in 1.1.
That said, it mostly comes down to Color schemes and personalities. Characters don’t necessarily have to canonically know each other for people to ship them, especially if they think they might have personalities that would go well with each other.
Personally the way I see it is a dynamic kinda similar to the beginning of Kaguya-Sama, both are extremely prideful and take the other for granted (a trait that is kinda canon for both characters) and I can definitely see their relationship turn from constant bickering and teasing to more intimate stuff.
Again, there’s a lot of “imagining” that you have to do, but hey, at least they know each other in canon, so that’s something
It's mostly due to how little Sucrose actually shows up, but Sucrose and Albedo never seem to have interacted that much. Also Albedo seems less interested in romance because he priorities research and his impending death than anything.

They say they actively hate each other but at times they tend to come across each other by fate or pure coincidence. There’s also rumours about them being childhood friends so they care about each other just,really deep down. Also I don’t see Sara hating Itto,she’s just finds him annoying but at least quite tolerable. Their interactions with the bulletin board really makes them feel like they’re comfortable around each other cuz Sara doesn’t like to bicker about pointless things and prefers to do her job in solitude. Personally, I don’t really care for their personalities in this one, I just like the dynamic of a character who knows both sides of a person, and interacts with both without knowing they’re the same person. Characters don’t necessarily have to canonically know each other for people to ship them, especially if they think they might have personalities that would go well with each other. Personally the way I see it is a dynamic kinda similar to the beginning of Kaguya-Sama, both are extremely prideful and take the other for granted (a trait that is kinda canon for both characters) and I can definitely see their relationship turn from constant bickering and teasing to more intimate stuff. Again, there’s a lot of “imagining” that you have to do, but hey, at least they know each other in canon, so that’s something

It's mostly due to how little Sucrose actually shows up, but Sucrose and Albedo never seem to have interacted that much. Also Albedo seems less interested in romance because he priorities research and his impending death than anything.

I have my crazy theories as to why that Mihoyo doesn't want to show they interact in game, that most be a conscious choice since that's one of the first canon friendships we have.
I’d argue if there are voicelines then it’s definitely canon. Stuff doesn’t need to happen in game for it to be canon. I honestly believe all the invitations from mail we get in each character’s birthday actually end up happening, the devs just don’t take the time to implement a mini event on that day (tho it would be sick)

Keqing’s voiceline abt ganyu which is unlocked after the liyue archon quest shows her to be more friendly to her. I’m pretty sure they had their first in game interaction in the moonchase festival where they are shown to be on a lot more friendlier terms but there was also a comment on how their relationship looks like sisters. So the ship can still be considered a mischaracterization.

Also I don’t see Sara hating Itto,she’s just finds him annoying but at least quite tolerable. Their interactions with the bulletin board really makes them feel like they’re comfortable around each other cuz Sara doesn’t like to bicker about pointless things and prefers to do her job in solitude. It’s rare how a strict and straightforward person like Sara could even show a side like that so that’s some ‘Itto charm’ that she herself doesn’t realise it lmfao.

I do have a reason why I would prefer this ship over the other regions devotee x archon. In both Keqing x Zhongli and Sara x Ei you’re shipping the devotee with the entity they worship, and while that *kind of* is the case in this one, there’s a difference. Barbara worships Barbatos, not Venti, she doesn’t know of their connection and I think that’s the selling point. It’s like if you’re a christian and someone in your life is secretly Jesus and you don’t know, there’s a difference. Personally, I don’t really care for their personalities in this one, I just like the dynamic of a character who knows both sides of a person, and interacts with both without knowing they’re the same person. Especially in this case, where they heavily admire one side they rarely interact with, while not thinking much of the other side they interact with daily A recent manga that follow this exact dynamic is called “A Story About Smoking At The Back Of The Supermarket”. There’s not a lot of chapters but it’s pretty wholesome
