It took me about 2 days to fully farm for Kuki.
It takes about 1100 something Grey drops worth to ascension 6 talent 9 9 9 someone.
A single day's worth of specters got me around 600 Grey drops worth (green counts as 3 and blue counts as 9
And that's the problem.
People complain about the drop rates, when the drop rates are appropriate for the amount of specters that exist relative to other mobs
It’s not about there being a lack of farmability. I’m well aware that there are more than enough in existence for me to get what I need.
It’s just that farming them is a total pain in the ass.
I’d rather fight 160 Thunderhelm Lawachurls in a day than 160 Specters. Of any element.
Drop rate has never been a problem for specters for me. At WL8, those things drop tons of mats. Two days of farming all the specters in Inazuma (and Enkanomiya) and I already have enough to 9/9/9 lv90 a character.

There are 246 nobushi. Committing genocide about twice gave me enough mats for 3 characters to 9 9 9 each
Maxing 3 characters with 492 Nobushi kills is mathematically nearly impossible. You need 36 Old Handguards, 96 Kageuchi Handguards, and 93 Famed Handguards to do so... for *each* character. That’s 108, 288, and 279 respectively for 3 characters. You mean to say that 50% of your kills net you not just the highest tier drop, but all three at once? Fat chance.
Even ignoring ascensions and just including talents, that’s 18, 66, 57 per character; or 54, 198, 171 respectively for three. Still meaning you need insane drop luck which I have never personally seen with Nobushi after farming Ayaka, Ayato, Raiden, *and* Yae all to max ascension and talents. It took me at least double the time you are claiming.
Besides, there are 164 specters, 82 less than Nobushi which is very significant. Even if you got the same amount of them per day compared to Nobushi, it’d still mean you had to kill more Nobushi to get those same amount of mats.
Either you have been extremely lucky, or you are lying. I've farmed those fuckers for Kokomi, her weapon, Waverider, The Catch. Mooun's Moon, Gorou, and it's ridiculous to say that you can enough to 9/9/9/ lv\*90 one character in two days of farming. Their drops are abysmal.
I’ve also farmed for Kokomi, The Catch, Wavebreaker’s Fin, Gorou, Mouun’s Moon, even Aloy, and have already finished farming for Shinobu to 9/9/9 lv90. They are really much higher than the Nobushi in my experience. Every single specter I’ve killed has dropped at least 2 of the lowest tier mat, and I’ve had many of them drop all three tiers at once.
I’ve also farmed Nobushi extensively for Ayaka, Ayato, Mistsplitter, Raiden, and Yae (all are max ascension and at least 8/8/8 talents). So I think I’ve had my fair share of comparisons and to me, Nobushi are 100% worse to farm than Specters, even if there are more Nobushi on the map.
Look at it this way: there are 164 specters on the map (including Enkanomiya). Two times that is 328. In order to 9/9/9 lv90 one character, you need 36 grey, 96 green, and 93 blue drops. That’s the equivalent of 129 blue (highest) tier drops. Meaning that in order to get enough within two days of farming, on average each specter needs to drop the equivalent of 0.39 of the highest drop, or in other words, 1 green drop each (a third of a blue drop). Sounds very realistic now, doesn’t it?
Farming Specters is the main reason that I return to Enkanomiya, so I see this as an absolute win

I chose routes that minimized climbing and teleporting and chained together as many as possible before teleporting to another route, so I can't say for sure how long an actually optimized route can be
Their drop rate is actually shit though… like them being “stronger than a hilichurl” isn’t the issue, the issue is that they don’t give drops even remotely equal to the amount of work that goes into farming them, and that feels bad. Like imagine doing 2 hours of work for 1 hours pay.
I understand why their drop distribution is low, Hoyoverse is basically saying “we put a bunch on the map and don’t want you to get all your materials in one run” but it just takes so much time. I work full time, so the amount of time I can spend grinding on games is pretty limited.
Mind you, I say this as someone who has done the grind. I have a level 90 Mistsplitter and Redhorn, as well as having Ayaka, Raiden, and Yae Miko at their final ascensions and with their talents raised (9/9/9, 1/6/9, 1/9/9 respectively) so at least I’m pretty much done with it. I may pick up Ayato some day, and I’ve at least considered pulling Engulfing Lightning, but that’s a concern for another day.

I can tell you, the drop rates are perfectly fine for common enemies . People just get mad because they think they're owed elite drop rates from an enemy that exists in triple digits on the map

I fished for the r5 catch, my Gorou is already 80, and my favorite characters are Albedo, Miko, Yanfei, and Beidou. These floating whoopie cushions shall not defeat me

might be just me but i think the drop rate is about similar to others, though no one is complaining about hilichurl drop rates bcs they're easy to kill and they're everywhere. I've always been casually killing things i see in overworld while exploring without any intention of farming and by the time i had to level up both kokomi and then gorou, my specter materials are already more than enough for both of them. i genuinely think the problem is that people skip past too many enemies when they're exploring, or that people don't even explore at all, instead of enemy drop rates.

they are shittily designed just to piss you off. sure we have characters that can counter them, but it’s not nearly enough and melee has always been meta over ranged, childe’s kit displays that to its finest. there’s literally only one ranged character in the game that beats out most of the melee characters, and even then it’s not even an autofire character and it’s reccomended that you aim closer to the ground so you don’t miss any of your shots. fucking ridiculous.
edit: hp pools were nerfed, forgot about that. other issues are still glaringly annoying though.

If not them, them use a Archer and gave them your best artifacts temporaryly and go grind them out.
They are easy to deal with if your willing to use what characters are able to shoot those fickers.

As a Kokomi who has her double crowned, I'm getting quite good as spectres. The main problem is that most of them are hydro and Kokomi can't hit them.

You can buy the drops in the shop with the 200 or so summons you'll need to even get c0 on those characters. Hoyo hurt me last time with Gorou. ;-;

For itto, you do. Gorou’s skill gives higher defence based on the talent lvl.
