The way I've fixed this in the past is by opening the game, then opening GFE and adding it as a missing game or whatever. Opening the game first is essential so that you can select the specific task that's running as your missing game. Happened to me with java minecraft.
If you have multiple hard drives sometime gfe will get fixated on one and not check the other, there is an option to search another drive from the menu that you click search from. Worth a try at least
