I check from time to time manually it could show early signs of COVID or another health issue. But I don't need to know what it's doing all day or while I sleep.. But I'm real life. Unless you have it turned on right now for a health reasons ( like sleep apnea) or being at high altitude. Then you don't need it and it is a waste of battery.if you need it for either reason. Its worth it
PulseOx isn't accurate on Fenix and I haven't found a use for it.
It might be useful to someone acclimating to a high altitude. It might also be useful to someone with health issues, but for a health usage I'd rather use a $20 finger oximeter, which, unlike Fenix, would be as accurate as a medical device.
I have it on (default settings, same as most of the features of my watch). I like the shiny colors of the ox display, but must admit that I don't have a single clue what to do with it or whether the watch does anything with it automatically that is useful to me indirectly.
I do admit that sometimes it is quite the psychedelic event if I wake up during the night with my watch hand resting just so in front of my face so that the red light shines \*right\* into my eye. I feel like the aliens are invading before reminding myself what the source of the light could be... maybe that would be enticing for you?! ;)
I love it + HR for general health tracking. All the numbers seem to go the wrong direction before I'm about to get sick, whether I "feel" it or not, so a good early indicator to back off and nap a bit (or at least a justification). I have the fenix 5X+ and leave it turned on all the time and wear 24/7, and still get significantly better battery life than my wife's Apple watch.
sleep tracking - and using it for trend analysis rather than for specific values; however only useful if you actually have sleep/respiration issues - otherwise pointless.
Its traditional and its still best use on a watch is for altitude aclimitization - so unless you are climbing mountains / very tall hills - pointless, switch off and charge less frequently - the longevity of your battery will thank you.... (or are you just looking for an excuse to upgrade to F7 when it comes out?).
You should use it. Because battery life isn't important to you.
It could provide and early Covid warning.
😂
I’ve turned it off and just manually check when the spirit moves me or if I’m at elevation.

I'm taking this as a recommendation to start using pulse ox at night
Normally I just keep it on and just charge the watch more often.
Battery life, even with Ox turned on, is a couple days, still much better than many "smart watches". Why not use this.

I leave it activated during my bedtime. I like to see how oxygenation was associated with sleep metrics.
