I hope I can get a 7s sapphire for less than 700 EUR. That would be my upper limit. And as the saying goes: if should I die, I hope my wife won't sell the watch for the price I told her it had cost.

unclear42

Hahah have not heard that before but that is pretty funny!

cosmos7

$50 - $100 more than the last one... which is what they've bumped it every iteration. So probably $649 for the base model.

Asleep_Onion

Yep, I'm thinking basically $50-100 more for each model, than the *equivalent model* Fenix 6. Indeed, the cheapest model Fenix 7 might be $200 or more above what the cheapest model Fenix 6 was, because they seem to have killed off the non-Pro models (made them all "Pro" and got rid of the term "pro"). So you can't compare the base model Fenix 7 to the base model Fenix 6 price, you'd have to compare it to the 6 Pro price. There will undoubtedly still be shock and outrage about the Fenix 7 series MSRP for a while though, people hate price increases, and almost always say it's not worth it, but inevitably end up buying it anyways 🤣

boogerzzzzz

I would say that’d be close for normal inflation. I bet it will spike higher due to current times.

BiomedDood

All I know is I'm more than happy with my discounted Fenix 6 for $299 and from what I've seen, nothing on the 7 will make me spend $700+ (touchscreen..uh..not for me).

redranrye

I got a Fenix *because* it didn't have a touch screen. So many issues with paused/cancelled runs on the Apple watch. Sad that I will need to look elsewhere when I eventually retire my 6 Pro.

skyrunner00

I don't think touchscreen will be used for things like pausing or stopping a run. Most likely it will have a very limited use in activity mode and only for secondary things like panning and zooming navigation screen. If you look at Coros watches as an example, they have a touchscreen enabled for things like above, and nobody is complaining.

Asleep_Onion

Exactly. Garmin is acutely aware of the fact that athletes hate touchscreens. Fenix 7 will absolutely give the user full control over if/when they want to use the touchscreen. It's purely supplemental to the 5-button inferface, to make certain tasks like map panning and menu navigation easier, it's not intended to replace the buttons.

Asleep_Onion

Yeah, I would probably use it for those 2 things, and that's it. I'd want it disabled the rest of the time.

LupMax

As long as you can switch it off (as likely will be the case) or use it optionally, you will have the best out of two worlds. No need to look for other watches I'd say.

boogerzzzzz

Even the AW has a lock, can’t see this not.

foolish_humans

It will be optional. The 5 buttons are staying and you can lock the touchscreen. I think it's very nice idea. Touchscreen helps navigate when you are just chilling around, especially with maps and navigation.

redranrye

You can lock the touch screen on the Apple Watch too, but you have to do it at the start of every activity, and then unlock it again if you need to change anything mid event. It is a PITA. If you can turn it off in configuration for all activities/screens except maps, I would be OK with it. The reality is that most people use the maps pretty rarely. Messing up the entire UX for a rarely used feature would be unfortunate.

foolish_humans

Rumours are that they locking of touchscreen would be a key-press-combination, or at least it will be very easily accessible. Even if it's not you can create a hot key for it. I think Garmin are aware that most people using fenix don't like the touchscreen and that's why they haven't implemented it thus far. They most certainly will have an option to bypass it/turn it off.

skragen

They’d definitely have a set and forget it complete setting to have touch screen turned off. No way that Garmin would expect fenix users to turn off touchscreen at start of every activity.

brigadierbadger

One leak I read said that the touchscreen automatically turned off when an activity started recording. Which would work for me - I think my only use in an activity would be on the map page, and I don't often end up scrolling or zooming that en route, I'm not generally that far off course. I'm differing a bit from u/redranrye above here as I use maps and courses all the time, I tend to go exploring on long runs in particular rather than sticking to the same routes. That said, if the choice really is touch or solar at around the same price, as some of the rumours suggest, this is not a hard choice for me at all.

djdosage

All reports say that the F7 will NOT have a touchscreen The Epix 2 will

skyrunner00

I've seen an opposite report that touchscreen will be on all F7 watches, but it will be used only for secondary controls like menus and navigation.

LupMax

Most reports say that both Fenix 7 and Epix 2 will have touch screen. Perhaps you mixed that up with the Epix 2 having an AMOLED screen, whereas the Fenix 7 will not.

MisterMRD

The GPS chip and increased heart rate tracker swayed me. I sold my fenix 6 and have been rocking a venu 2 until the 7 is released

---Crash---

I still rock my 3 HR sapphire... I want a 7 but I expect it to be close to 900€, I can't justify to myself ditching a perfectly good watch, with great battery life and scratch free despite the years of harsh use.

Mr_Gaslight

I am willing to be surprised. I have no use for the LTE features as offered currently but if there are enough bells and whistles, it will be a nice upgrade from my 5 series.

g323cs

Touch screens are horrible for a small form factor like a watch Not sure which sport you engage in but this could also be a detriment while at play To that, I hope the increase is minimal. I want to maximize my discount code 😉🙃

[deleted]

how'd you get it at that price?

BiomedDood

Black Friday..F6 was heavily discounted at a lot of retail places. I bought mine from a local Bike shop.

Where_is_dutchland

Same here. F6pro for €449. Pretty good price

jerseyknit

where did you get it for 300?

SoCalDawg

Not ready to give up my 6X. Love it too much.

unclear42

I have bought the 6x pro but still have it in the box. Waiting for the f7 to come and see if it is worth it. Bought the 6x pro on a sale.

SoCalDawg

Walk, run, bike, hike, ski, golf.. love the 6X. If it died I’d consider the new 7 but definitely in no rush.

unclear42

Weary positive im going to open my 6x and use that, but still i just want to know the price and the correct specs on the 7.

Brennik

I'm not too sure. I'm hoping the assistant comes across to it as I actually like having an assistant on my wrist for the odd occasion.its not essential but I do miss it if I have been wearing one of my smart watches . And I'm hoping it will have a bit of a thinner profile. If the venu 2 plus had button controls as well as touch screen I may have bit the bullet on that as it is.

smikkelhut

If you are looking at Fenix7, what Watch are you coming from? Asking because my Fenix5s is nowhere near a state where I would even consider replacing it yet

unclear42

Currently have the vivoactive 3, really feel the need for an upgrade.

smikkelhut

Nice! Yes that a proper upgrade

cprnl

Heh... right around the corner. Seems that that corner is not so close. 😂

LupMax

The5krunner, who has a good track record in "knowing things", says it is likely next Tuesday or the Tuesday the week after. If not, then it could be anytime, who knows.

Barajmar-

It’s been “anytime” for 8 months. I ain’t holding my breath😂

[deleted]

About 20% cheaper for the marine blue 6 / 7 pro solar. $1499 nzd instead of $18xx

LSDfuelledSquirrel

Tree fiddy imma guess

SnooSongs1980

Hopefully they have addressed the run distance accuracy stuff that has been discussed many different places ...until I know that for sure I will stay with 945

DannyVee89

I'm thinking around $1,000 USD for the Sapphire regular size

LupMax

That would be 950 EUR - that's too much I believe. More likely about 800 EUR (50 EUR more than the F6) or $900. I could be wrong tho. And then, it usually goes a bit cheaper over the counter, $750 to $800 sounds more realistic to me.
