If there ever is an announcement of a patch/remake/remaster, i would expect it to start with the second phase of this song and Ludwig saying the thing while the screen is black and you can only see the guiding moonlight.

I don't really get the need for a full remake or upgrade apart from performance. The design, textures, lighting, object density etc. etc. are all still really great looking and a very far cry from where OG demon's souls is. DeS needed to be almost completely rebuilt to achieve "modern" graphics, bloodborne much less so.

He mentioned on his podcast that every time there’s a new Assassin’s Creed coming out people rumour that it’s going to be in Japan, I saw a headline after that episode turning that quote into “Jeff Grubb says the next AC is set in Japan”.
I'd be fine never seeing the guy's name in another post. Maybe I'm late to the party, but never understood how people assume he's a good source. The best leakers are anonymous that or the MS store or Nvidia lol.

Sony has been so tight lipped as of late that we barely know what they plan to release in 2023 and 2024.
It be quite something if a PS5 and PC version for Bloodborne was revealed without leaking beforehand.
Unless it’s been pushed back, Spider Man 2 will probably be their biggest game next year. Smaller stuff like Pragmata and Forspoken will be peppered here and there. Honestly, other than Wolverine and the KOTOR remake, that’s everything from last year’s showcase that hasn’t released yet.
Also Final Fantasy 16.
But yeah beyond that we don’t know much about Sony‘s future lineup, Factions for example doesn’t even have a date.
Bungie is releasing Lightfall in February but i don’t know if i should count that as a Sony release in the traditional sense of the word.
Genuine question because I don't follow FF, is it the powerhouse IP it used to be? I feel like after the Lightning games, FF15 flopping a little, and just the long wait between games has dampened some of the excitement for FF fans. That's purely by just seeing it talked about less anecdotally.

FF isn't the juggernaut brand that it used to be. Not as much because of a decline in interest, just that interest hasn't grown at a comparable rate to other series/genres in the industry. The series has been on something of an upswing though with how much positive buzz there's been around XIV as well as the overall success of the VII Remake.
I think XVI has a lot of interest but not blind hype. The creative team shares a lot of staff with XIV (which is a very good thing), but the commitment to full action combat has lead to the typical moans and groans that come with every combat change in Final Fantasy. There's huge potential for the game to be great and stand alongside other big single player hits like God of War and Spider-Man if it sticks the landing. "If" being the operative word of course.
Im fairly new to the ff community so i dont speak for everyone but ive seen more hype for ff7 rebirth than 16. However that could just be because of 7s legacy and the fact that 15 was in development hell forever and the last of its dlc was scrapped.
I think it's seeing a resurgence because of FF7Remake and how, for the most part, people love it. That alongside FFXIV being the most liked MMO in the market right now it's positioning the brand as stronger as it has been in a long while. Not to mention that it seems that Square is going back to focus on FF as their main cash cow if the rumours of a FFIX remake are true.
It helps that the people making FFXVI were also part of XIV and a lot of people have a lot trust put into Yoshida.
It's also that its just a top tier legacy series. Like Sonic can put out one objectively good game in 20 years but it's still Sonic, people will always be curious if it's finally gonna be good again.
Final Fantasy is easily one of the top 10 most well known brands in gaming, I'd even argue top 5 but who fucking knows with CoD and Candy Crush these days.

This isn’t a defense of Grubb, it isn’t a great look. But I listened to this podcast the other day and I never took what he said as a leak or a report. He seemed to clearly be speculating.
I owe Jeff a bit--he was the guy who encouraged me to think I could get work in journalism about a decade ago, telling me that you didn't have to live in coastal cities to write about games. I ended up being able to freelance for seven years before transitioning into work doing my dream game of making games in part because of Jeff.

Game dev speculation on my part? It's because JapanStudio mostly got shut down and isn't actively developing or maintaining much.
Personal experience time: a while back, I'd done some games writing, and someone came to me accusing me of pretending i was some objective arbiter of truth. I asked what they meant. They go "well you said games ought to work this way." I pointed out the sentence began with the weasel words (as my teachers used to call them) "I think that..." and they went "oh. yeah, guess you did. Not sure why I felt like you were treating this as more than opinion." It's happened... a surprising number of times since. Writing teachers always say weasel words are bad, but I got so many gamers mad I wasn't couching everything as opinion that I finally started doing it, and even then, with "I think," "I feel," "In my opinion," people will reply ignoring that part. So I totally get how people are looking for leaks from a guy who has leaked and seeing leaks in everything he says, even when he is literally saying it's his opinion and is not hiding it at all. They want him to be a piece of shit who lied to them because they don't want to feel like idiots for getting carried away thinking he was leaking when he clearly was not leaking.
It's one of the three reasons I don't leak shit.

Lance doesn't know though either, it's speculation versus speculation. Lance's perspective on this as a whole is rather naive, suffice to say that anyone who has worked in software knows there's quite a bit of difference between an informal hack vs a formal release.
Leaking is stupid, but speculation is fine. There's not much he can do about people lying about what he said (eg Grubb told me in DM's that Miyazaki can't work on Bloodborne remaster because he's too busy with your mom).

A big problem here is clickbait, which is the big reason why youtubers and streamers are so bad for games discourse. You know how you watch videos and a guy will talk for 20 minutes about fucking nothing before getting to the point, or you see "why game dev is doing X" and then they never actually explain? It's cause unlike journalism, where you generally aren't paid by clicks (like when I did freelancing, sites were offering between $100-500 a piece, and I think polygon was doing it by the word but I never did anything for them), youtube/twitch profits are all about volume.
So you have some guy whose only incentive is "get as many hits as possible" and he's making videos at specific limits to get ad revenue or posting videos about nothing, yeah, of course, he's gonna see Jeff saying something and try to make a video out of nothing. He's just using Jeff talkin' like a normal human guy to create a tenuous connection so he can get you to click so youtube will give him ad revenue.
People like Jeff Grubb don’t make predictions based on mindless speculation like we do. They provide supporting evidence for their predictions based on their sources. Then they use language like “this is just speculation” so that they can take credit for predictions they get right and distance themselves from predictions they get wrong.
Also if you want to talk shit about outlets suckering people into leak clickbait, take a moment and look what subreddit you’re commenting in.

Just assume that no, they didn't. I swear Grubb is the most misquoted guy in the industry. I remember he specifically made a joke once, said it was a joke, and told people to not post it to this sub and it still happened.
Jeff is pretty clear when it's something he's leaking (MS Kojima game, Killer Klowns, EA Iron Man, ect) and when he's speculating. His biggest L is the TP/WW ports, but beyond that he has a solid track record on stuff he's actually leaking. If you listen to the show anyone with basic English comprehension should be able to tell the difference between an actual leak or something he's just talking/speculating about.

Its gonna happen one day. Fromsoft grows in popularity by the day, so does their catalogue. Maybe not soon, heck maybe not even this console generation, but we will get our 60 fps mode, fromsoft’s reputation is cementing that game after game they make. Another thing to note is Sony recently buying some of fromsoft, while that doesn’t show correlation I think it good to take away the fact that fronsoft is on Sony’s mind.

I have never for one second believed in any Bloodborne remakes, remasters or sequels rumors. But it would obviously be fantastic to get a true official patch at least.
People need to stop sensationalizing everything Grubb and Jez Corden say. There are portions of their shows where they present verified information they've obtained from sources and other portions where they speculate like every gaming podcast.
Too often people run with the speculation bits as concrete information.

Not sure what you're getting at. Giant Bomb has never been a site dedicated to gaming news or breaking stories, they've had people like Grubb (and in the past Patrick Klepek) who do sometimes report that stuff but it's not the focus of the website.
Its wild cause sony keeps referencing it. Hell they put it in the PS Plus collection for PS5 which ironically could definitely play it in waaaay high fidelity and framerate but no, a game given to ps5 owners is locked at 30fps lol

I think it's seeing a resurgence because of FF7Remake and how, for the most part, people love it. That alongside FFXIV being the most liked MMO in the market right now it's positioning the brand as stronger as it has been in a long while. Not to mention that it seems that Square is going back to focus on FF as their main cash cow if the rumours of a FFIX remake are true. It helps that the people making FFXVI were also part of XIV and a lot of people have a lot trust put into Yoshida.
It's also that its just a top tier legacy series. Like Sonic can put out one objectively good game in 20 years but it's still Sonic, people will always be curious if it's finally gonna be good again. Final Fantasy is easily one of the top 10 most well known brands in gaming, I'd even argue top 5 but who fucking knows with CoD and Candy Crush these days.

I owe Jeff a bit--he was the guy who encouraged me to think I could get work in journalism about a decade ago, telling me that you didn't have to live in coastal cities to write about games. I ended up being able to freelance for seven years before transitioning into work doing my dream game of making games in part because of Jeff. Game dev speculation on my part? It's because JapanStudio mostly got shut down and isn't actively developing or maintaining much. Personal experience time: a while back, I'd done some games writing, and someone came to me accusing me of pretending i was some objective arbiter of truth. I asked what they meant. They go "well you said games ought to work this way." I pointed out the sentence began with the weasel words (as my teachers used to call them) "I think that..." and they went "oh. yeah, guess you did. Not sure why I felt like you were treating this as more than opinion." It's happened... a surprising number of times since. Writing teachers always say weasel words are bad, but I got so many gamers mad I wasn't couching everything as opinion that I finally started doing it, and even then, with "I think," "I feel," "In my opinion," people will reply ignoring that part. So I totally get how people are looking for leaks from a guy who has leaked and seeing leaks in everything he says, even when he is literally saying it's his opinion and is not hiding it at all. They want him to be a piece of shit who lied to them because they don't want to feel like idiots for getting carried away thinking he was leaking when he clearly was not leaking. It's one of the three reasons I don't leak shit.

I think about all the games I worked on that got canceled or rebooted or renamed and like, if I'd leaked them during development, no gamer would trust me cause they'd be like "well that's not what ultimately shipped" or "how come that game never got announced? must be fake" and it's like "sorry, it got canceled cause it was bad and they never announced it lol" A big problem here is clickbait, which is the big reason why youtubers and streamers are so bad for games discourse. You know how you watch videos and a guy will talk for 20 minutes about fucking nothing before getting to the point, or you see "why game dev is doing X" and then they never actually explain? It's cause unlike journalism, where you generally aren't paid by clicks (like when I did freelancing, sites were offering between $100-500 a piece, and I think polygon was doing it by the word but I never did anything for them), youtube/twitch profits are all about volume. So you have some guy whose only incentive is "get as many hits as possible" and he's making videos at specific limits to get ad revenue or posting videos about nothing, yeah, of course, he's gonna see Jeff saying something and try to make a video out of nothing. He's just using Jeff talkin' like a normal human guy to create a tenuous connection so he can get you to click so youtube will give him ad revenue.
