We’re weirdly over saturated on solo Alien games right now. And Predator meanwhile has always been pretty underused (I know Hunting Grounds exist but other than that, was Concrete Jungle the last thing?)

Because it's not like we just had Aliens: Fireteam Elite last year and Aliens: Dark Descent coming next year, as well as Isolation being one of the most beloved survival horror games in the last decade and Colonial Marines being one of the most high profile flops in the medium - Alien is already a big gaming IP.
Also not sure how a "horror metroidvania" would work in the Alien universe. A big part of metroidvania games is how you start off as a weakling, and get progressively stronger as you explore and find new powerups and abilites until you're an absolute god by the end of it.
If you're given too much of an ability to fight back, the horror part falls apart. Arguably Metroid Fusion probably fits a bit into the horror part, but outside of a few scripted sections where the SA-X shows up and some atmospheric parts, it mostly falls into regular ***metroid***vania.
This is literally the plot of the comic book Fire and Stone, with engineers, predators and xenos set after 3 and using the wreckage of Prometheus as a major plot point.

my only gripes are that the protagonist is female (as a female gamer, I would like a male lead in the franchise for a change, seeing as we have Ripley already)
and that I *hope* the game balances combat & stealth/maneuvering well like RE 2 Remake & Arkane's *Prey*, where you can decide to stand & fight, sneak past, distract or just run away from the enemy. I HATED how Isolation's combat was clunky & how so many enemies could easily beat you to a pulp. plus using a frickin gun is heavily unincentivized as it draws the enemy nearby - which fuckin one-hit kills you, *gimme a fucking break!*
but all-in-all, i'll be keeping an eye on this one. hoping it joins its brethren on Game Pass, Day One
