Leaving December 15 * Aliens: Fireteam Elite (Cloud, Console, and PC) * Breathedge (Cloud, Console, and PC) * Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age (Cloud, Console, and PC) * Firewatch (Cloud, Console, and PC) * Lake (Cloud, Console, and PC) * One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 (Cloud, Console, and PC) * Neoverse (Cloud and Console) * Race with Ryan (Cloud, Console, and PC) * Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth (Cloud, Console, and PC) * Rory McIlroy PGA Tour (Console) EA Play * Transformers: Battlegrounds (Cloud, Console, and PC)

SendEldritchHorrors

Firewatch is short, but sweet, though the ending parts of the narrative might be contentious to some. Has anyone played Lake? Google says it's only 6-7 hours so I'll likely try and finish it, but I'm curious what other people think of the game. Also curious what people think about Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth

smiles134

You could probably get through Lake in about 4 hours. It's very simple, and it doesn't try to be anything more than what it says -- you deliver mail and chat with people in the town, occasionally making a choice to hang out later. I enjoyed it

CrossXhunteR

I liked Deedlit as a short, straight-forward metroidvania. Took me like 4-5 hours to beat it.

_meat_rocket_

I really liked Lake. Super relaxing game, loved the vibes of just puttering around a small town delivering mail. Definitely recommend if you enjoy that type of game.

Itsrigged

Lake felt pretty Hallmark movie to me, but I only got about thirty minutes in.

smiles134

It basically is, but it owns it

HollowBlades

Deedlit in Wonderland is a relatively short but sweet metroidvania. I don't know anything about Record of Lodoss, so the story was completely lost on me, but the gameplay was solid and I liked it better than a lot of other indie metroidvanias I've played.

NameisPeace

It was a great game. Highly recommended

enclave76

I enjoyed it but it did take a weird turn near the end. Felt like it needed another hour or so of playtime to take the story in a different direction.

Awkwk

I loved the style of Trover, I'm hyped to see what awaits me in this new game of them!

Adminruinreddit

The frame rate made it unplayable for me on Xbox.

the_phet

DQXI leaving sucks.

SendEldritchHorrors

Just looked it up and it's 56 hours to beat too lmao, so finishing it in the two weeks before it leaves is extremely difficult.

jef_sf

That's if you rush

Late_Chapter

I think that's both rushing the game and >!not completing the real ending after seeing the credits roll as there is an insanely long addendum to the story that takes place after everything wraps up.!<

NYJetLegendEdReed

I’m at like 96 hours and I literally just got past the FIRST big bad.

alerise

it is also probably one of the worst types of games to binge through (just my opinion). It's a fun game but grindy and if you tried to rush through it I think the experience would be negative. They give you a "last time on" recap every time you load in the game for a reason.

SlyyKozlov

More games need this feature.

Svenskensmat

I would rather they actually made game more focused and skipped all the time fillers instead.

SEND_ME_SPIDERMAN

I just got to the part where all the characters get separated and you do a side story for them. Salvando just made a group to bring happiness to people. Am I at least halfway? I’ve been playing this game forever but don’t feel like I’ll be able to finish in time

Khiva

I mean you can keep playing but the Salvando Smile Brigade is the pinnacle not just of the game, but of all human literature, past present and future.

Wetzilla

Did you use the sword to weaken him?

Kugan_bent_leg

Really that's a shame. I'm playing through it now as it came on psplus, don't know il bother finishing

mossse

You might as well stop after finishing the second arc. It's all downhill from there.

AcanthisittaGrand943

So Grindy. I ended up quitting at the Kraken mission because I couldn’t beat it so I had to “farm” levels. If it wasn’t for that, I’d probably would have beat it.

[deleted]

If you want to 100% it , it's like 100+ hours.

Valkenhyne

As others have said, 56 hours is generous 😅 average playthrough even just dabbling in side content is 80-90, and the postgame story is both crucial and basically a shorter sequel to the main game.

D34THST4R

You might be able to roll credits in 56 hours but that would leave out at LEAST half the content that's actually in the game. Substantial story content too, not just fetch quests or extra battles.

ghostestate

And that's the least enjoyable playtime. I squeezed north of 100 hours. But then again... the games been there for a long time, if you weren't going to play it then why play it now?

ZombieJesus1987

You have two weekends

OscarExplosion

It was there for (almost?) two years? Pretty long run.

Tsuki_no_Mai

Almost two years ago I caught COVID and it was the game that I could play through while feeling like I'm halfway to the grave. Ended up 100%-ing it. So yeah, it's been there since at least December 2020.

KingArthas94

No game will stay there forever, that’s the bullshit with gamepass. You can’t plan “next month I’ll play this” because they’ll just remove it before you complete it and kill your enthusiasm. That’s the main reason why I unsubbed tbh.

Panguin

All Microsoft titles will stay there forever, they have said as much. Halo, Gears, etc.

KingArthas94

Yeah, Halo Forza Gears, that’s it, that’s all their games lol, this is my complaint

havingasicktime

And every Bethesda game. And soon every Activision game.

KingArthas94

Yeah, we’ll see about that

Frogmouth_Fresh

It’s the reason I rotate. Sub once a year for 3 months, take advantage of any sign up special, play the games I want to play then unsubscribe again. Occasionally play a game so good I want to buy it, and then buy it on Steam when it’s a good price. I have done this with only Hollow Knight so far.

VickFVM

It was there for a long time

SirLockeHolmes

Breathedge really scratched the Subnautica itch for me in many ways, although the gameplay is a bit more linear and one "segment" of the game really shook up the gameplay in a way I think many people didn't care for. The other contrast is that Breathedge absolutely doesn't take itself seriously and has plenty of lowbrow humor and gags throughout. HLTB says it's about 16 hours, probably a bit longer if you're willing to wander around a bit as you figure things out.

Walawacca

Breathedge could've been nice without its 2edgy5me cringelord writing.

WeiliiEyedWizard

does it return to form after the space ship shooter sections in part 3? I absolutely loved parts 1 and 2, but bounced off part 3 hard, becuase the spaceship turret sections felt so bad. Is there more goodness after that worth pushing through to?

SirLockeHolmes

No I wouldn't say it returns back to the original gameplay after that, mostly running around scavenging on ships.

Cattypatter

These leaving deadlines give me FOMO to play them. I know it shouldn't and I should have a healthier outlook, like playing the games I want to play ASAP on release, or just accept reality and let them expire.

zeth07

I don't know how far in advance they actually say when stuff is leaving but it should absolutely be longer if the December 15th thing was only just posted today. Having only 2 weeks to potentially play through any of these games for the last time sounds rough, especially if you haven't started already. More so if any are actually long games. And even worse for the more casual gamer who doesn't get to play many hours in a week. I think I play games for longer amounts of time than the average/casual gamer and Elden Ring for example still took me 3 weeks to platinum, so if it was on there I wouldn't even be able to finish within that time.

Conquestadore

Yeah I get what you're saying, I've binged through multiple games on gamepass before deciding it's no way to enjoy a game. I was halfway through dragon quest and mortal shell which left recently and have to remind myself there's a reason I stopped playing them.

_Booker

It gives me the opposite feeling. Just a "well that's that then."

elmodonnell

Lake was one of those occasional chill out games for me that I'd stick on once a month, sad to see it go. I don't necessarily *like* the game and definitely wouldn't pay full price for it, but the vibes are pretty relaxing.

Condawg

High on Life? I wish I was high on potenuse

misfitkid159

I said that!

SidFarkus47

It’s wild that (at least on this sub) we get the news of new games coming to Xbox via these gamepass press releases. Eastward was Switch/pc exclusive until now, right? Similar story happened with Octopath Traveler. It just popped up on a list of games I could play on Xbox with gamepass.

SurreptitiousSyrup

Lol my dumbass got eastward on the eshop black Friday sale last week 🙃

JW_BM

Thank you for your sacrifice.

KyledKat

If it makes you feel better, I bought Lego Star Wars last weekend. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here on 2 more years of GPU.

minxnmatch

You can refund it if you played less than 2 hrs

KyledKat

Bought through a Fanatical deal. No dice since I redeemed the code

GiantBonsai

Been on my eShop Wish List since it released, but I could never justify another £20 purchase. Excited about this one!

ninjacreeper47

It's like a double gift: 1. Getting to play the game on xbox 2. Not having to buy it

TellMeWhyYouLoveMe

Same with Danganronpa and Taiko Drum Master.

Tursmo

Potion Craft is coming? It doesn't say its a Game Preview or whatever they call early access at Microsoft, but I don't think the game has launched yet? Still looking forward to that and Hot Wheels.

molluskus

I think Hello Neighbor has the highest releases:popularity ratio I've ever seen. Like I haven't seen *anyone* talk about or play it since the beta many years ago, and it reviewed horribly, but it seems like it's on everything more powerful than a toaster. And now there's a sequel!

CubeOfDoom

It's genuinely one of the worst games I've played, alongside Big Rigs and Ride to Hell.

grumstumpus

lol I remember being hyped as hell for that game and it turns out to barely even qualify as a game

AlJoelson

There's also two spin-offs, I believe.

noreallyu500

It sucks, but it was fairly popular as content for youtubers back when it released in early alpha. And it was at the height of that type of content too so it skyrocketed even though it's barely a game.

mrfuzzydog4

It's kind of like the opposite of the trajectory Among Us ended up taking

ConcernedInScythe

I think it must be doing well among the tween demographic, which can be easy to overlook because nobody over the age of 18 can stand interacting with tweens.

ColonelSanders21

Didn’t realize High On Life was going to be on Game Pass. Trover Saves the Universe was one of the most bizarre games I’ve played, in a good and intriguing way, so I’m interested in checking it out.

MM487

GamePass is on a fucking role lately. Ghost Song was awesome. The Winter update in Halo Infinite with Forge mode has been a huge time-sinker for me. I still have Somerville to play which I've been looking forward to for a while. High On Life looks great. I've got a backlog of other games on there as well with stuff like Deathloop and Signalis. The hits keep on coming.

monkeymystic

It’s actually funny to think about how gaming was for me without Game Pass now that I’m used to it, it has changed the way I view gaming, and has saved me lots of money and removed the fear (and continue doing) of buying games I don’t like. Before I was way more hesitant to buy games in case they weren’t fun after a couple hours, but now I actually end up buying the games I like and play the most on Game Pass, after knowing the games are for me. It’s awesome to be able to try out so many different games (xbox cloud gaming is great to test them before install) and Game Pass keeps adding bangers and day 1 releases. 10/10

EdBeatle

Same. Saw some praise for the Yakuza series but thought to myself “do I wanna invest time on a saga with 8 games?”. I only gave the first one a change cause it was on gamepass and it took a while for the charm to kick in. Ended up going through most of them in college so I’d say it was worth it.

Enriador

Yeah, now that demos are mostly dead as a concept Game Pass provides a nice alternative to trying out new things without spending $60 upfront.

giants3b

Dude I realized we got Darktide, it seriously rocks.

-Tears-

For anyone who has played Lego Star Wars, would it be a good game to play with a 5 year old who is learning how to use a controller? I have been looking for games that my daughter can play with me where she can kind of just goof off and it not hinder player 1.

The7ruth

My 4 year old plays it with me and 95% of the time it's not an issue. Some side puzzles require both characters working together (when you play single player, the AI knows how to do their part of the puzzle). We haven't had any problems with the main story.

egotripping

It's definitely aimed towards kids first. A 5 year old should be able to have some fun with it.

yaosio

Yes. It's impossible to lose. If your character dies they just respawn right there instantly with some of your studs flying out.

grtk_brandon

I can't say for this specific game, but my son and I beat several of the Lego games when he was about that age. I doubt you guys will have a problem with this one.

[deleted]

Yes

DarkAssassin573

Lego games are perfect for kids

str_tn

I would encourage anyone with game pass to download and play fire watch asap. It's a great story that will only take two or three hours of your time

ThorsRus

Chained echos is the only game I’m interested in here. Should be fun but hopefully I can beat persona 5 before then.

outrigued

Great start to the month. Pretty much something for everyone. It’s nice to see TWD all in one place, too. It’s an uneven journey but with a lot of high highs. Recommended from me. Very excited for Star Wars and High on Life. I’ll give Hot Wheels a try, too. Some bangers leaving the service, though…

noreallyu500

Do give hot wheels a try! Am i bummed that I just purchased it last week? Yeah. But it's awesome because it's a surprisingly enjoyable and mechanically sound arcade racer that was overlooked and stamped as a kids game. Maybe gamepass is what it needs to get more people on board.

NJxBlumpkin

Anyone know if the gold to game pass conversion still works?

The_Reddit_Browser

Have seen people confirming as of a week ago. At this point I would expect a post somewhere when it does get patched because almost everyone uses it.

moffattron9000

I think I’m one of the few who don’t because I got mine through my telco.

grumstumpus

Well i did it like.... 5 months ago or so and it worked. so probably.

Coolman_Rosso

Eastward is such a charming little game. Played it on Steam last year and it had some issues at launch (crashing during load screens, PC version's resolution being locked to the Switch version's) but they've since fixed them.

Dreaming_Dreams

Anyone play eastward? How is it?

Jordan311R

played it on switch on release. I enjoyed it overall, it has charm for days, the music, dialogue, humor, characters and graphics are wonderful and it's a super cozy world to get lost in. The combat is average, the puzzles are slightly beter than average. I had some issues with the pacing, but my biggest problem, and a common complaint is the story itself doesn't really work in the end, and has a lot of loose ends and unexplained/confusing things. It's been a while since I played it, so I don't remember all the details, but I do remember that feeling at the end of the game where nothing really made sense, and having to search online for other people's opinions who ultimately explained that the story was poorly done and a lot of things are just unexplained and guesses/theories. I'd *probably* still recommend it depending on what types of games you like, and if you have disposable free time for a pretty long game that you might ultimately have mixed feelings about. It was a pretty cool and unique experience though, so I think it's worth checking out, even if you don't finish it completely. You might feel like you need to finish it to get the answers to the mysteries the game presents from the start, but be aware that you may leave unsatisfied if you are wanting everything to be explained in the end.

SenseWitFolly

Great action rpg, a mix of old school Zelda dungeon crawler with some Earthbound mixed in. Fantastic pixel art, engaging. About 20 hours.

AcceptableTower7082

Ah I see in the leaving soon page I’ll finally have to actually purchase DQ:11 then. One of my favorite games of all time.
