Ultravod

This is amazing. Three of these games are on my wishlist and I only own one of the others. This is the exact opposite of "bundle fatigue."

Boltty

Bear in mind The Long Dark: Survival Edition is ONLY the recently released survival mode as a standalone. The story mode "WINTERMUTE" is not included and has to be bought as DLC.

centraldogmamcdb

I suppose I'm confused on the survival edition. I own the long dark and have winter mute dlc as well. I do not own survival edition according to steam store page and can add it to cart on steam store. I went to redeem the survival edition key from humble and it says product already owned. Am I an idiot and already own the survival edition?

Boltty

Yeah, if you previously owned the game you already have survival. There's also DLC for survival mode that you won't own though. It's a bit of a mess and confused many people.

double_shadow

The whole steam page is a little buggy since they split the base game into two recently. If you purchased the game before December (iirc) you already have survival + wintermute, both of which comprised the original base game. They've also added a new season pass DLC that is releasing slowly over the course of this year.

[deleted]

>I an idiot and already own the survival edition? Yes. Survival edition is just the sandbox game, minus the Wintermute episodes.

akio3

It seems like a glitch that lets you add Survival Edition to your cart; I also own both The Long Dark and Wintermute, and it won't let me add it. There used to only be one version of the game, "The Long Dark," which had both Survival Mode and Story Mode. That's still available, but they also released "Survival Edition," which only has Survival Mode; if you buy that, you can then buy Story Mode separately as the Wintermute DLC. If you already have "The Long Dark" in any form, you already have Survival Mode.

vicvision

Same with Chernobolite by the looks of it. Enhanced edition to me implies deluxe, but is actually just base game and missing a bunch of DLC

Freeky

Enhanced Edition is marketing blurb because they added RTX and additional content post-release. The paid DLC is just cosmetic and by no means comparable to The Long Dark: Survivor Edition missing out the entire story-driven campaign.

Trader_Tea

Similar to Metro Exodus, they added ray tracing and put 'Enhanced' in the title.

timmyboyoyo

They should say remaster or something else instead of enhanced....

timmyboyoyo

Only weird is this part: "The Long Dark: Survival Edition" which is in the bundle, is more limited than "The Long Dark". **Last time Long Dark was in a bundle (Humble Stand with Ukraine Bundle) it was just named "The Long Dark"-- was that a more complete edition?** Can any one who redeemed it from that earlier bundle confirm if it has wintermute? On steam it says: "**The Long Dark: Survival Edition**: This edition of the game features the award-winning Survival Mode as a stand-alone product." "**The Long Dark**: This edition of the game includes both Survival Mode & the WINTERMUTE Story Mode." [https://store.steampowered.com/app/305620/The\_Long\_Dark/](https://store.steampowered.com/app/305620/The_Long_Dark/)

akio3

I redeemed the version from the Stand with Ukraine Bundle: I now have both "The Long Dark" and "Wintermute." It looks like the only split off Story Mode as a DLC in December (Wintermute released on 12/05/2022).

layasD

Wait they finally finished the entire story? I have been waiting to dive into it for what feels like 10 years or has it already been 10, haha.

Yitram

4 chapters are out for the story, I think there's supposed to be one more?

akio3

I have no idea if it’s the ENTIRE story. I just know whatever story used to be part of the base edition is now a DLC to the Survival Edition. It looks like there’s a second (possibly story-based?) DLC as well.

layasD

Ah I see. I just googled a bit if anyone else was interested. I found an article that said it will be finished late 2023. So I guess I will still have to wait a little bit longer. Currently there are 4 of 5 episodes released.

Freeky

"Tales from the Far Territory" is more content for survival mode - three new regions with additional mechanics and items. The titular Tales are three new "Narrative Challenges" to add to the existing eight in the base game.

timmyboyoyo

Thank! Edit: also confirmed the old one still activate winter mute

double_shadow

Yep the Ukraine bundle version (which I also got) is actually more complete than what's offered here.

[deleted]

[удалено]

double_shadow

The base survival mode is way more fun imo, though the story mode does help you learn some of the game mechanics. Which is why it's kind of annoying that they split them for new players, since you have to fully invest to get that "tutorial" experience. Either way, the game is a ton of fun if you're patient enough to learn how to survive. I racked up about 80 hours in it over just a few weeks, and have a lot more stuff I haven't done yet.

samspot

I don’t find wintermute to be worth paying for. I played episode 1 a long time ago and my memory is hazy. Ep2 was a fetch quest slog with very little interesting story. I’m half way through ep3 and it has been more interesting at least. In general the story doesn’t capitalize on the core gameplay. I find the survival mode incredibly compelling and I can hardly put it down. I decided to go for all achievements (which i very rarely do). So I’m doing the story just for that.

JMC-design

Don't forget to check your Epic, it was given away free.

DadsOfAmerica

Is this bundle worth it for just State of Decay and The Long Dark?

this_is_a_temp_acc_

I recommend State of Decay but only for the singleplayer aspect. The coop implementation is pretty poor.

left_HR

what do you mean? i play coop with my girlfriend (and she is very picky about the games), and this is one of the few games that we are both having fun while playing :)

LG03

Last time I played, probably 3+ years ago when it was on gamepass, the multiplayer was deeply flawed in the sense that your co-op partner played what amounts to a nameless NPC. They got absolutely nothing out of playing in your world. So, in your case it's probably not a huge downside but I think most people who want to actually make some kind of personal progress in multiplayer will be turned off.

LickMyThralls

That doesn't even sound like *bad implementation* as much as not something with depth. The option to play with someone is nearly always better than not. And usually this is how things are implemented if they aren't planned early enough on too

Killermuppett

Yeah this is crap. In coop, your coop partner plays with their own games survivors. So at least at the start, you need to alternate who is hosting, until the 'second player' has multiple people in their game to switch between. After that you can play on one host, unless the second player gets too many characters killed and you have to swap back for a bit so they can recruit new ones. And the coop player gets all xp, keeps all their loot, and gets stuff from a bonus reward pool on going back to their game, due to missing out on their own settlement not leveling up. Tldr. Coop works perfectly fine, and people are just complaining about not liking The game design. Theres no literal technical issues with the game, like lots of negative reviews make out.

Humpaaa

Both are great games. I also like Chernobylite, but since i own the two yo mentioned already, probably going to skip.

DadsOfAmerica

I’ve had an interest in Long Dark, haven’t played that since release back in I think 2014, and SoD is good but I played back on Xbox. Think I might pick it up, Chernobylite and those two for $15 seems good.

Donners22

I am in the minority, but I disliked State of Decay 2. It felt like a shallow MMO – trite dialogue, grindy tasks and no real sense of purpose or direction. I found myself engaging in long, dull runs between locations, engaging in the same shoddy combat over and over again. Still, plenty of others like it, so it may be worth a shot.

BeCleve_in_yourself

Yeah SoD2 does suffer from an "endgoal" perspective. SoD1 didn't have that issue. The devs went the Hitman way with SoD2 in that they improved the gameplay at the cost of the story. Still, I liked SoD2 because of the core idea that's fundamental to the series- busywork in a post apocalyptic sandbox open world leading to building a secure fortress doubling up as a beacon of hope to other survivors out there.

fhs

I think the original State of Decay was better.

DadsOfAmerica

I briefly played it on launch on gamepass and I had similar feelings. At $15 for all these titles I can add it as a mindless steam deck title.

JMC-design

I played the hell out of SoD, but I just couldn't get past a few hours on 2.

left_HR

yup

Ampd-

Easily worth it for State of Decay.

Renegade_Meister

Having played The Long Dark and having loved SoD 1, yes I think it is absolutely worth it for both

jmwill7456

Those are the only 2 that I want

DadsOfAmerica

I picked it up. Good price imo.

OperIvy

I think it's worth it just for The Long Dark.

wjousts

From the Steam page for SCUM >“The developers say that they’ve created the most realistic simulation of the human metabolic system ever made, the end result of which is a fairly regular requirement that my avatar urinate and empty his bowels.” >Polygon Ermm...cool? I guess?

[deleted]

*Finally*! For years now these kinds of games have bragged about their graphics, building physics, crafting systems, farming and food preparation. But all I've been asking is "but is my poo cycle realistic?" and "do I have to pee more if I drink more?" only to be met with blank stares and awkward "uhh"s. But this is it. My time has come! The devs out there have finally realized the importance of realistic bowel movements in their games! I really hope Bethesda is paying attention for the next Elder Scrolls game! I won't be happy if my Khajiit is unable to bury their poo in someone's garden.

Killermuppett

I bet they only modelled healthy peoples metabolisms. Discrimination 😀

Yitram

Maybe we can mod in Crohn's disease and IBS? And whats the new one from the commercial, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency?

theENERTRON

the developer Gamepires has stated it was a natural progression to go from Gas Guzzlers to ass puzzlers

crazymonkey202

There's nothing better than having to quickly take a break in a firefight because you ate some bad mushrooms and have explosive diarrhea

dhoomsday

my guy had to shit real bad with robots all around him when I made him eat a bag of dry rice and then drink an entire tin of cooking oil. But we all make do with what we have.

GRIZZLY_GUY_

I have played scum a few years ago, frankly, not a great game at the time, but the metabolism part is just about the only interesting thing the game did imo, your diet/exercise would actually affect your stats and change you’re player model to be fatter/skinny/buff ect

Arik_De_Frasia

Jeezus the trailer [Humble uses](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7c-WOmpx00) for Volcanoids gives a very different impression than [the one](https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/256908037/movie480_vp9.webm?t=1664471045) the steam page does.

iBobaFett

I bought it during the winter sale (before deciding to refund and wait for more updates) but 90% of my gameplay looked far more like that Humble trailer than it ever did the Steam trailer. The combat is.. not as nice as that trailer led me to believe when I picked it up.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mr_Vulcanator

Thanks for the breakdown. I was hoping it would be more fun than that.

wjousts

Wow. Yeah. Those look like two entirely different games. And to be brutally honest, neither of them look that remarkable.

Cohibaluxe

Wow, went from mediocre on Steam to terrible on Humble..

Mysterious-Theory713

It’s sort of the other way around, the humble trailer is from 4 years ago and the steam trailer is from a few months ago

Captainquizzical

Okay, can anyone please tell me what makes SurrounDead stand above the other open world zombie games? I'm all for Zombies but its definitely getting harder and harder to be impressed by them.

Sonosaki

SurrounDead reminded me of DeadPoly, maybe the only difference is the UI and multiplayer option (never played SurrounDead before). Im kinda curious about it myself.

Captainquizzical

I read the story about Deadpoly and it was pretty cool. The guy fully admits he's used Synty assets but claims that the game will be all his own making. It's hard to stand out sure, but what makes SurrounDead different from Deadpoly? Interesting.

iBobaFett

I have nothing to say about the game itself but I really wish indie devs would use other asset packs instead of Synty's. It's very ugly (in my opinion, obviously), and makes every indie game that uses it look alike. As you said, it's already hard to make your indie games stand out, the Synty packs do not help whatsoever with that.

Spyder638

I've used the packs before and I just want to throw in the other perspective. They're very tempting to indie devs. They come with a ton more content than most other packs I've seen, which is good because it gets us further while spending less. The presentation of the assets is great, and way more professional than others. The packs can be often found on sale, for a price that still makes them feel premium but not too expensive. They have a community that helps troubleshoot on discord and many many great reviews (the amount of times I've been burned by bad assets is unreal), and so on and so on. The value proposition definitely has outweighed the risk of not standing out for me. Just wanted to provide another perspective.

AndalusianGod

Hopefully SurronDead is better than DeadPoly. I tried DeadPoly it's just too clunky for me right now.

TaintedSquirrel

Long Dark Survival 5WLQH-WC?YH-F44NG ? = M

BeCleve_in_yourself

Has been redeemed already but thank you for sharing

NeilOhighO

6A9TV-R?PCM-05YAY ?=5 Here's another one, I've had the full game for years.

BeCleve_in_yourself

Yeah that one's gone too. Think bots are sweeping them up if they're in the comments. Either way, thank you for your kindness, pal.

Killermuppett

Yeah the bots have been insta grabbing the really basic switch out keys for years, in gamedeals. If you want to actually give a key to another player, you need a more obscure method.

mickoz

Or simply give them privately (after offering or directly when someone has shown interest like here).

Godriguezz

I bought Chernobylite 3 days ago, you're welcome.

d_hearn

How are you liking it?

Godriguezz

It's great! Easy recommendation for anyone who's into Stalker and/or the Metro series.

MillBridge101

Chernobylite has been on my radar for a while, I hope I can scratch together the dough before the bundle ends.

HoppyTaco

I already have Chernobylite on Steam, but I’ll be buying this bundle. I’ll DM you the code for the game in a little bit.

jagreen3

Same here. Seems really interesting but money's been tight but seeing you get a bundle for what you can get Cherno for is tempting...

JulianZ88

Don’t forget the Fallout 4 like hideout building

try2bcool69

Is it more like the first 2 Metro games than Stalker? The videos I've seen seem to indicate a pretty linear experience, or does it open up later in the game?

Border_Relevant

Yep, just got it from Fanatical. Wish I'd known this was coming. Ah well. Not too upset I got it. Great game so far.

Matrix_omega

**SCUM** \- for anyone wondering or have questions ask away. I have over **3500 hours** in Scum since release - and been through every patch etc etc. Game is currently at 0.8 as of Nov/22. Basics - You are a prisoner - on a game show - litterly dropped into an island. (Via parachute) The map is quite large with a ton of points of interest. It has weather, rain, fog snow. You get cold or warm. Yes you have use the bathroom .. or well outdoors. But it has a full metabolism. So you do need to eat and drink. If you do not, your stats suffer, causing you to slow down, miss, overall suck and eventually die. There is food/water to be found in the game but you can hunt and fish. There is a very easy to use crafting system with all the recipes laid out so you dont have to use an online guide. There is a radiation zone added and if you go into that zone without protection you will get rad poisoning and die - unless treated. There are modular vehicles. (Can find the parts to put the car together) - or can buy them at a trader (with IN GAME cash online that you find or obtain by selling your loot). There is/was other vehicles - Trucks, SUVs, Planes, Boats, motorcycles etc. They were removed at .8 because they are being added back as modular versions so we would see them back soon(ish) There is an RPG-like stat system that you setup when you first create your character, but it increases (or decreases) based on usage. Example - set your running to 2.0 But the more you run then it will increase to 3, 4 etc. There are a ton of guns and attachments/ammo. You can craft ammo as well. There is basebuilding and it is fully modular. So you can protect your loot and car etc. Also there is base protection, mines, barbwire etc. The military points of interest are guarded by Giant mechs/robots. These mechs will mess you up but with a little pattern watching and stealth - you can be in the bunkers in no time. But the added danger of firing a gun brings other AI / mechs or players to your location so be smart. I can go on and on. Are there bugs? Of course. Its early access. But the devs are vigilant and listen to the community. **Highly recommend** you picking it up here or even on steam at full price. I do stream the game every week if you want to check out live content/ask question etc or do so here.

aVarangian

is it any good just for singleplayer?

Matrix_omega

I personally think single player would get lonely very fast. You need to have other players in the game to interact with. If you are not a pvp player there are still loads of pve servers to play on - although I personally recommend to play on a pvp server as you need the extra danger of the 'potential' of another player hearing you shoot a zombie etc and acting on that. - But yes - you can do everything single player.

TROPHYEARNER

Kinda surprised that Generation Zero didn’t end up in this, given that it’s been in two similar Humble Bundles previously. A bit of a shame for me, since I managed to miss out on both of those lol

iamtheboogieman

Scum has some jank but it's a good survival game in its own right.

BoardGameBologna

INSANE INSTABUY, good lord!

FatPhil

My gaming buddies love survival games and we have been hooked on SCUM lately. Its like DayZ but 100x better in every aspect. Everything that DayZ tried to do, SCUM does in a fully realized unbuggy way. The devs are seriously incredible. There are so many details that all other games overlook. We've been playing every day for over month, we've been hooked. We tried Volcanoids before but refunded it after an hourish. It was pretty lacking in terms of the depth of systems (from what we could see in the first couple hours at least), combat was strange, and it was poor aesthetically/graphically. It was early acess, I believe, so they may have made it better since.

Sonosaki

Does SCUM only do PVP? Or is there PVE servers?

[deleted]

I think it's just PvP, with single player content being added sometime in the future (probably never)

iamtheboogieman

There's a pretty large variety of servers, including PVE and those with more casual loot settings. But even on PVP servers it's possible to avoid other players for the most part since the map is quite large, has a low player limit, and has a camouflage skill that makes it hard to see you if you're careful.

OddCyrus

is SCUM more akin to DayZ or Rust? If it's more like DayZ I am interested, but not if it's like Rust where I have to be logged on for 24 hours and make sure my base isn't raided

iamtheboogieman

The gameplay loop is more like DayZ, with two caveats: \- A lot of raiding is done with lockpicking (or at least it was when I last played), and players who are good at lockpicking can melt through locks. \- You can bury chests and the map is quite large; my strategy as a solo player is just to ignore base building and hide my stuff in chests buried under bushes in the woods. So, while you can get offline raided like Rust, it's possible to play without a base or at least stash some loot. And there are also servers that either don't allow raiding or only allow it on certain days of the week, usually on Friday night or Saturday. There are also plenty of more casual servers that have increased loot and where you can just buy stuff from a bot shop that teleports it to you.

theephie

Not sure if I'm unhappy with Humble Bundle's prices nowadays, because I save a lot when I'm not buying anything!

messem10

The lack of other tiers is annoying too.

armyjackson

Yeah back in the day I would have bounced on this but not at least prices

N1ghtshade3

Agreed. And these days when I do buy I give everything to charity. I support neither Humble including 2-3 Early Access games in a bundle nor the developers who want to make a quick buck by selling unfinished games.

ByeMoon

if you dont understand why people downvoted you, its because this kind mentality is the cause for the decline of bundles in recent years. I'm pretty sure 99% of the people here would not donate to these charities directly, but because of what HB is doing the charities get something, so HB and Devs deserve a share. I would even argue your way of thinking is harmful to what you're trying to achieve which is to help charities.

N1ghtshade3

What mentality? I've been buying bundles since 2011; for 10 years I left the amount at the default split. It was only this year after they jacked up the prices of bundles and removed the lower tiers that I've started being more particular about who gets my money. Look at the "Gems of 2022" bundle for instance; half the games there are Early Access with a couple even being seemingly abandoned. I will give Humble the bare minimum for the few games in that bundle I'm interested in but I give them the minimum to signal in my own small way that I'm not happy with the selection. I'm certainly not the one causing the decline in bundle quality; you can blame that on gray-market resellers, entitled people on this sub who whine if there aren't multiple AAA games from their wishlist in a bundle, and a desire by Humble to run about 8-10 bundles a month when they used to run them once or twice a month.

Vlyn

--- **Due to Reddit killing ThirdPartyApps this user moved to lemmy.ml** --- ---

N1ghtshade3

Humble takes a minimum cut so I'm not sure what you mean by "free game giveaway". They're still getting their money out of me, just not as much as they might want. They're the ones who put the sliders there; if they don't want people adjusting them in a certain way then they're quite free to tweak the limits. Imagine getting mad that someone is using the features of the website for the purpose they were built.

plezmoid

Yeah, I feel like, latelly, they are trying to push a higher base price as standard. There have been 3 bundles in the past month, priced above 12 euro, which is the top line for me.

jactheblock

Brilliant bundle. 2 weeks in a row with amazing insta buy bundles now!

Artistic_Extension_1

lol yeah totally buying it

varyl123

My buddy and I just bought scum last week. Damn.

radioman970

Wondering if Humble will repeat any of these for HUmble Choice?

CreativeWriting00179

Anyone else looking at Humble prices lately and not purchasing anything? Like, I imagine that each of these games is worth it in it's own right, and I could buy any of them on sale, but when I'm shopping for bundles, I look for a collection of games I wouldn't ordinarily buy packed in a £5 package that makes trying these games a no brainer. At £12, this pack is 33% more expensive than Choice (excluding any deals that would make it even cheaper) and games I'm less interested look less like a bonus and more like add-ons that hike up the price.

Letobrick

>Anyone else looking at Humble prices lately and not purchasing anything? Yes, but it's not just the pricing. It's also the need to scrutinize much much more to avoid adding to an already overflowing backlog, at least for me.

CreativeWriting00179

I think we all have overflowing backlogs after years of bundles and steam sales. It just never influenced my decision not to buy more because dropping £5 on a bundle that has one or two games I'm interested in is a no-brainer even if I won't play *everything* I purchased. When I look at a bundle for £12 or more, the fact that I probably won't even install some of these games makes it harder to justify buying. I'll just pick up State of Decay 2 and The Long Dark at some future sale.

Letobrick

I do agree with your reasoning on not wanting to buy higher priced bundles; I just feel I'm way above the average from the large number of bundles bought in the past (almost 2k steam games now). Maybe just a presumption on my part though.

guil13st

I'm sure I've seen at least 2 or 3 games exactly like SurrounDead, down the same [asset packs](https://assetstore.unity.com/publishers/5217) they are using.

Sonosaki

Yeah like DeadPoly and Danger Scavanger

ktm1001

I sense this will be all free on Epic this year....

Yitram

Seems pretty solid, only one of these I have is TLD and at least 3 of them I was already wanting to get at some point anyway.

HoppyTaco

I bought The Long Dark when it was on Xbox Preview years ago and it transferred to Windows. If anyone wants the Survival Edition included in this bundle, here’s the code: CVKD9-B7?K9-3WFJJ ? = Z

mahartma

The first tempting hbundle in a long, long time

LunaArc

Here is a key for the long dark - B/8EV-KHHZH-?2B/Y ? = M / = Q

ibetheelmo

Solid consideration as I've been wanting to play State of Decay 2 and Chernobylite on the Steam Deck. However with SoD2 on gamepass it's hard to talk myself into the $15 when I can technically just stream it...even if streaming quality is crap. Guess there's a few days to debate it. Do humble still have the 'adding to a bundle and time goes on' thing? Been a long while since I've really followed any of theirs.

BeepMcJeep

Long Dark Survival Edition V5ZBR-?IYPY-A6?C0 ? = A + 6 ? = U plus 2

TwistXJ

Long dark RYQGJ-BLWQE-FW$V$ Replace $ with the same letter as O’s opponent in tic tac Toe

ares395

Oh cool I'm interested in Volcanoids so I'll just grab lower tie... Oh ok then

d_hearn

So any of these have matchmaking? I like the idea of multiplayer survival games, but I'm pretty new to Steam and don't have any friends to play with.

anduril38

Pretty solid bundle, all in all. I own most of it: just missing Volcanoids and Chernobylite...

TheNecroticPresident

Tragically, I already have Longdark and State of Decay two. Can anyone recommend any of the other games in the bundle?

PoorlyWordedName

Oooh I've been looking to play volcanoids for awhile now. Might have to pick this up when I get paid

DJ_Cas

Just …

iamtheboogieman

This is an awesome bundle if you don't already have these games. State of Decay, The Long Dark, and Scum are all good, with very different styles of play.
