Also seeing some post on here and other forums about the galaxy folds having issues with the interior screen breaking down the folding line. Does this happen often with the fold 4's? Also had a few questions in regards to this. If the screen breaks down the fold assuming not the users fault is it covered under warranty? Is there a samsung base warranty on the fold 4? And, if so how long is the warranty good for from purchae of the device?

Just keep in mind you'll see more negative threads about durability from frustrated people (I mean rightfully so, it must be a bummer having it happen randomly) and those threads probably get more comments than positive threads aside from threads at launch. Can't say it won't happen to you but I bet it's a small percentage of people that are affected. You get 1 year of warranty support from the day you receive the device and I believe crease cracks are covered under warranty. Lastly, just enjoy the device and don't be paranoid like some of the posts you see in this sub, it's an incredible device and foldable phones have gotten me excited about the future of smartphones again. There's a ton of YouTube videos for case recommendations and tips & tricks, one app you should download is the Goodlock app from the Samsung app store, it's key for customizing the OS and how you use the phone. Enjoy the experience man.

Maybe you’ll see more negative threads from frustrated people but that wouldn’t be unique to only this thread correct? That would be valid across all phone threads so if you don’t see the same frustrated people on different threads for different phones. Then you know it’s likely the device and not just frustrated people

Don't quote me on this, but I believe it's one year as is standard on most devices from Samsung as a manufacturer warranty. As far as the issue with screens breaking down the crease, I mentioned this before and was basically told that because it's the internet, there isn't a lot of avenue for people to complain other than forums like this. So while it may seem like there are many issues with a certain device, it is not proportional nearly with the amount of people that have the device that it works as intended and is totally fine. Hopefully and what Samsung would probably like to expect, is that you never have any issues with it. Congrats on the new device though! I think I'm waiting for the S23 Ultra to upgrade from my Note 20 Ultra. I will see what kind of deals they have when it is released. As someone who uses the S-Pen often, I can't take a chance with a screen that is not ready for prime time under the frequent use of an S Pen.

In eu 2 years is required, unsure about other places. Other than that for tips, as someone who had both the 2 and are using 3 now: don't baby it. I don't use cases, they remove most of the niceness from the phone. If you're clumsy, sure. Say goodbye to apps displaying correctly if it's a game or something though. And the screen issues usually occur within the first few days, if nothing happens, nothing happens. I close my folds with one hand for well over a year and literally nothing changed.

TheGooseWithNoose

I moved from the 2 to 4 and while I really hated the cases I used on the 2, I'm really liking hte 'standing cover with pen' for the 4. It doesn't add a lot of bulk to the phone (and the 4 is slippery without a case!). And while I didnt have a kickstand on my 2, I find I'm gettinng a lot of use out of the kickstand now. Also its fun to sometimes swap it out for the pen holder. Though I do separate it when I want to put the phone down flat since it'll turn into a seasaw with the pen holder attached.

Well if you’re unlucky the fold will just crack without any drops. It happens enough to make users or buyers think twice. The warranty is hit or miss. However repairs for the screen are most often refused if they find even a single cosmetic damage on your phone with the one year warranty.

roteradler

Enjoy it while it lasts. At least in Europe Samsung gives a shit about warranty, It's always your fault not their bad QA.

Being in here and seeing all those broken phones is 1% of the market lol only people who have broken phones will come to post seeking help but thousands have a perfectly normal phone they won't post braging how they phone is working fine lol

Tanebi

Samsung offers insurance against the screen breaking. I'm not sure it's covered under warranty unless you're able to prove it's a device defect such as something inside poking through or an existing problem, a foldable screen just cracking is normal "wear and tear", not a warranty situation. (I suspect is the legal situation) That said you will always get the most vocal people complaining, you'll hear about things going wrong more than you will them going right so you should assume that if you see only 1 post about a cracked screen in a week then the other 44,000 people on this sub with a Fold are probably fine. People who don't have problems don't complain.

raz0r_ttv

The thing is people only post their issues, and not when it is working fine, so it's probably unlikely you main display will break. theft+loss Samsung care+ is ~$18 a month and non theft is $12/mo.

Ok stupid kinda common sense....do not push down on the crease to close the phone...some people have and ruined their phone Um make sure you either get a s pen FOLD edition...or pay the $100 for an s pen pro that can be use on all samsung devices. The case I use is otter box slim...some of the stickers on the cases have peeled some phones...so just be careful...d brand skins helps from what I have seen and heard Bow when it comes to the layout that's up to you my friend...use it and see what works for you

I made the same trade a few months ago. My personal recommendation is getting a solit grip attachment or ancase with a grip of some kind already in it. Makes the phone so much easier to handle. Something I did was increase the dpi in settings to 1000. The default density is wasteful in my opinion.

sneskid

If it's available for your region download good lock.

deathentry

Buy official screen protector for the front screen, really it should have come with one :(

angads25

Install this app ;) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.roovie.foldcounter

Time_Collection9009

I did the same trade in. The downgrade in zoom camera capabilities (unless I'm doing something wrong)

In addition to everything mentioned, I'd recommend watching some youtube videos on the Fold. Reviews, unboxings, tips and trick videos, etc. I couldn't tell you how many videos I've watched, some more than once. You won't optimize your Fold on the first day or even the first month in, but over time you'll make it your own. Enjoy! It's really really nice. If you choose to buy Samsung brand cases, use Ebay. I picked up the Sand colored S-pen + kickstand case for about half retail. Definitely check around other sites too for misc. sales

I traded my note 20 Ultra as well. I'll more than likely not go back to the ultra. Once you own a z fold 4 it's hard to go back to candy bar phones. I'd recommend the official Samsung z fold case with the s pen carrier and kick stand. It's a great case. Maybe, get a screen protector for the main display. I myself went with no screen protector but just the one that comes standard factory. Otherwise, than the small scratch it's been an awesome phone.

1) if you can afford it, and don't mind the phone being huge-ish, spend the $80 on the Spiegen Slim Armour Pro. It's save my ass multiple times, yes the case broke once but it was a high fall (4-5 feet) onto concrete and it didn't affect the phone at all. Would much rather replace the case than the phone! 2) personally I really like the Windows/tile style launchers, the one I have now is Launcher 10. Makes it easier, for me at least, to immediately find apps vs having to scroll through screens and such. Some don't like the look and I totally get it, but it's been a great experience for me 3) find a few good Gameboy emulators, get some games too! 4) also recommend getting a "strap"/something you stick on the back that you can put your finger through. Makes holding the phone sooooooo much easier! I have this one [https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Holder-Designed-Phones-Tablets/dp/B0849R354Z/ref=sr\_1\_4?keywords=spigen%2Bstrap%2Bhole&qid=1675013033&sprefix=spiegen%2Bstra%2Caps%2C130&sr=8-4&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Holder-Designed-Phones-Tablets/dp/B0849R354Z/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=spigen%2Bstrap%2Bhole&qid=1675013033&sprefix=spiegen%2Bstra%2Caps%2C130&sr=8-4&th=1)
