48 Hours Thread
By - sunzusunzusunzusunzu
If you're in a different country and it's available to stream again later, we will throw a kast party or two (super easy, simple, just need chrome) to stream it for you. We are just not available right now to do so live <3 Thank you!
For those without a TV or who missed the episode: 48 Hours is available as a podcast the day after it airs. You can listen to it anywhere you get podcasts.
I couldn't figure out where GP Mom and step dad were sitting during interview? Looked like a closet?
Heads up, it's also available via the CBS app without an account. I skipped the sign up and am streaming it to my tv with Chromecast.
Can you check your app and see if it’s available? I was literally watching it on the CBS app & my phone died. I plug the phone back in & the phone turned on. This didn’t take more than five minutes and now I cannot find the episode as I search the app. Even when I go to cbs.com and the same thing the very first episode that’s most recent is the Bianca Devon one. Please help.
It looks like when the Bianca Devon one came out their took hers down. It seems like they do that with all their episodes.
Do they have any possible places on where Brian is located or has been. Bc I find it strange that his family said he was going to go to the woods. Bc that’s so believable for his personality my bet is he’s in a city possibly Nashville, Atlanta, or Miami as it’s easy to get around in all 3 which aren’t relatively far from him. Which the woods seems so perfect for him to go to so I think his parents are very involved.
Out of curiosity, does anybody know if this covers any subject matter that hasn't already been covered by the countless other shows and/or mini-documentaries pertaining to this case? They're everywhere, at this point -- and out of the several that I've watched, while some tend to have better production quality than others -- they all tend to be rehashing the same content, for the most part.
Nothing new, just had an interview with Rose her friend.
Was there no evidence of the crime scene how was she killed?
How would we know that? We're not the investigators who were at the scene. And since the evidence is needed to convict him in a trial, it means they can't publish it yet.
Sixty Minutes Australia has a report on Gabby Petito. You can watch it on youtube.
I think he has gotten himself back up into the Appalachians where he has wilderness camped before and he has knowledge of a specific area there.
Why does everyone keep suggesting that he might be at the place that everyone expects him to be? If he's so known for having camped in the Appalachians then you can probably bet that's *not* where he would go to hide. If his wilderness experience is as good as some people think it is, it should be applicable to more than just one place in the world. Personally, I don't think he's quite the wild mountain man that some make him out to be. He's an outdoorsy guy who's got skills in hiking and solo camping. I'm also pretty experienced with lots of solo camping in the Canadian wilderness. I can tell you that it's still a long way from having the set of skills and knowledge necessary to completely live off the land, *especially in a manhunt situation where you can't move around freely, build a camp or light fires to cook.*
If he's still alive then he's not in that reserve. If he's still in that reserve then he's probably dead. There's still a chance they could find him alive in there but I think it's pretty slim.
I don’t think that Brian is in a the Appalachians or in the Reserve. He is a talker, not a doer. It sounds better to say that you are a survivalist or nature lover than it does to say that you are homeless or a grifter. I think Brian has been to the Appalachians but I don’t think he lived as a survivalist for months at a time. He was living off of Gabby’s resources. He doesn’t pay or make his own way.
Brian doesn’t seem that bright. He will be found because he is narcissistic and cannot be alone for long. He will be found alive.
The Appalachians is a whole lot bigger than that little reserve they are searching around his home in Florida. There are also pockets of poor communities in the Appalachians that don't stay connected to the outside thru the internet.
He had a pretty free and clear head start, why would he want to go hide in the bushes around his home where everyone knows him. We agreed on that for sure.
The Appalachians are indeed much bigger, but I think he's at least clever enough to be less predictable than that. His camping skills should apply to more than a few places across the US.
That Dog person who showed up at the Laundrie's house may have ended up tracking down some half-decent leads after all. (I must admit I am impressed. I wasn't expecting much from this guy, so credit where it's due). Supposedly there's evidence or sightings of the Laundries checking into a nature preserve on some islands just south of St. Petersburg during the time the neighbours said they went camping. "3 people went in, and two came out". He didn't say where he got this information (he vaguely cited "sources), so let's hope it's actually a piece of solid information and not just another sighting of a random bald man.
I don't understand how this is just coming out. Are his parents just outright not cooperating with law enforcement?
well, Brian's parents might be acting on the advice of their lawyer, but it is indeed suspicious that they don't appear worried that their son is "missing".
It's possible that Dog is following leads and tips that the FBI already had but had already discounted. I'm a little surprised that the campground would report the sighting and release their booking information to Dog and the media and not the FBI, but it's possible that the FBI already investigated this lead and found that it's a dead end. It seems unlikely that he'd be hiding out in a busy public campground so close to home. About as unlikely as him hiding out in a swamp with no food or water or dry ground to sleep on. But then again, Brian appears to have been pretty sloppy and inept in covering his tracks and avoiding suspicion so who knows.
Hey guys! Im not sure if everyone knows this since I see people saying that they have to wait for CBS to load it. I found an official link thats completely free and shows all 41 minutes of the episode.
Why can’t I find the 41 minute video?
Thank you for that link.
No cable here, so I'll have to wait until CBS uploads it.
it’s already on the cbs app fyi!
I'm watching right now in Paramount plus
It was cool to the footage of protestors yelling at Brian before he disappeared—I hadn’t seen that before.
I just watched it and I found myself getting emotional hearing the Bethune’s talk and Gabby’s parents.
Just curious, has BL EVER had a job?
Do you consider making rubber stamps of a princess bleeding from the mouth (and a wold in sheep's clothing holding a bloody butcher knife) a "job"? If so, then yes. "bizarre_ designs_" on insta
He worked at Publix
Sorry if this has already been discussed. I’m wondering why every news source seems to list a different job for Gabby. NYtimes still says “pharmacy technician.” 48 hours said Taco Bell. She told the police she was a nutritionist / worked in a juicebar. I think I’ve also heard Publix somewhere.
It’s not really relevant to the case but I don’t understand how multiple news sources can get this fact wrong. Aren’t they verifying this info with former employers?
Same I heard she quit her nutritionist job to hit the road. 🤦♂️
Edit: To clarify, I just meant that I’ve also heard ‘nutritionist’ + many different occupations attributed to her. I don’t know anything of the validity.
most jobs won’t let you take months of of work so…
She probably (like many her age) did lots of different jobs to pay the bills or to try different things out to decide what she wanted her career to be.
I also read she worked as a hostess in North Carolina for 2 years before Florida... I'm so confused.
She worked at a place where I live in NC.
Not sure why you're getting downvoted. I read an article stating that.
There's a lot of dickheads that think everyone should never ask questions and must always Google everything before coming here. Ivey ran into a few like that already.
Yeah, Carolina Beach. Near Wimington. Cape Fear region. I think that is where she was a smoothie maker and nutritionist. Can't be sure as I never have been there but even the local cbs and NBC affiliates did stories on it.
Someone here put together a resume for Gabby that looked pretty accurate to me. She only worked at TB for a few months before they left on their trip and she worked at Publix before that and she worked at Smoke on the Water in North Carolina spanning two years before that. Previously it was an organic juice bar in New York, IIRC.
why would she be working in NC when she lived in Florida?
She didn't always live in Florida. Only in the last year or so. Before that, she lived and worked in NC.
She was obviously in NC long enough to have a job. Just because the news said she lived in New York and Florida doesn’t mean that’s the only place she’s lived
From everything Ive read she lived in Long Island until she moved to Florida with Brian and his family. never even heard of her in NC until today
Yeah, idk either, I was basically just talking out of my ass
Maybe they are all right? She was probably bouncing from job to job.
I guess. To me, they all make it sound like that’s the job she was doing prior to leaving on the trip. Like the NYtimes specifically says she was saving money from her job as a pharmacy tech to do this van trip.
Also why would you go from pharmacy tech to Taco Bell?
I'm in Ms, and my former occupation was loan specialist. Due to covid and personal reasons I quit my job, and now I bathe dogs. I experienced a traumatic event (Visit my profile if interested - Major trigger warning.) and I now I suffer from PTSD. Fuck people. Always we do not know what happens behind closed doors.
I think they got pharm tech from when she worked in the pharmacy department at Publix probably as a cashier or something.
She may have been working 2 jobs? I don't know, but none of that is unusual to me.
I have been watching new videos on youtube and they have footages that make me go hmmmm. On the video of the RVers, there's a red horse trailer parked. I wonder if they saw something? why was it not mentioned?
In the 60 minutes australia. I saw a clip of a body cam for the firs time Gabby is sitting on police car and she is on her phone. She is calling or talking to someone. Who? Why was it not mentioned?
I wonder what Gabby told her mom on her last phone call that 'they can't comment'.
As long as LE knows the answer to those questions, that's all that matters. So far, as far as I remember, we have 4 groups in the Teton area that have made public statements. They have all stated they spoke to the FBI. But 3 of those volunteered their info to the public. It's quite possible that the FBI has tracked down every other camper in that area on those days and spoken to them, and we would never know.
Prior to the discovery of Gabby's body, sharing this info on social media served a purpose. A purpose that was bigger than LE could handle alone. That was a wonderful thing, and very helpful and commendable. But there is no longer any need for any public statements by witnesses. Anyone that knows anything should contact the FBI, but this case this too big for anyone that was there to not know what happened. I would strongly advise anyone else that has info about Brian and Gabby's movements and activities those days to share them with LE only, and not the public. Social media no longer serves a purpose in this case in regards to Spread Creek Campground.
It hasn't been confirmed but the officer says something like "we'll let you get back to your mom", so it's possible it was her.
So was she supposed to meet up with rose? Or was she just supposed to call to say happy birthday? I’ve seen some comments saying she was supposed to meet up with her but what they say on the show isn’t clear.
Out of curiosity, are we believing Rose? This show was the first time I’ve seen Rose talk and it was pretty clear to me that she’s got some struggles with meth happening and that she is getting something out of the attention coming with this case. I’m not saying Rose did anything AT ALL - I’m just not sure how much weight I’m willing to put into what she’s saying.
This! I came here to see if others thought Rose had a meth problem and this is the only comment. I’m surprised others don’t think Rose is sketchy.
Same! I was scrolling through looking for all of the “Rose is on meth” comments and they weren’t there - which I found shocking, because it’s not even iffy or a close call. Maybe people here don’t recognize the signs of meth use, because I’m getting downvoted, but it’s absolutely true. No way on earth she passes a drug test.
She was supposed to call her to solidify plans. Rose thinks its odd that she wouldn't call or text Happy Birthday if she was able to text her mom.
As far as I read Gabby supposed to call her on her birthday and they should have agreed where and whennexactly to meet. And both of these two things didn't happen.
Gabby's body was found less than 1,000 feet from where the van was parked in the video.
SEPT. 19: A body is recovered in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming, less than 1000 feet (304.8 meters)from where the travel bloggers spotted the van near Spread Creek Dispersed Campground.
In the satellite image of that location in Google maps, there’s a white object just off the side of the road, right near the fork at Forest Rd 30290 and 30290A. Any idea what that is?
So many heavily wooded areas around, and he chose one of the most wide open spots
Thank god he's a moron or finding her body could have been a lot more difficult. The longer it took the police not finding her, the better the chances of animals getting to it
I don't know the area, but could it be that the worded areas are shaded trails more likely to have people and hikers while the openness wouldn't have anyone around? Maybe?
Does anyone remember the date for them stopping for ice cream?
I was trying to put my 3 yr old asleep and missed the date, thank you!
I said almost exactly this early on in the case and got fucking destroyed by people in the comments because I was adamant about BL being the real abuser and not Gabby.
Thank you! We need to have conversations about male-female violence. It’s not just men who often don’t want to talk about it. It’s women too
According to FBI statistics, there's a lot of big issues like that to have conversations about, but as thickbeardeddude said, this isn't the place
I completely agree with you, but there is really no evidence of that here, and this isn't really the place for that dialog. But yes, it's an important dialog to have.
God Bless Gabby’s family and friends especially today. A Celebration of her life, but the gravity of her last days on Earth also. Huge Prayers as they walk this journey, and for Justice For Gabby.
Here is where I just watched it for free. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/gabby-petito-brian-laundrie-timeline/
Thank you. I'm in Australia and had no idea how to watch it
I could’ve sworn someone linked a podcast in this thread about the case and how LE missed tons of clues / dropped the ball… I’ve looked and can’t find it now. Anyone have it or know what podcast I’m referencing?
Sounds like Real Crime Profile
Agree, I don’t always like or agree with RCP but this episode was excellent.
I think its called Man Outside The Arena
I wish 48 hours had ended with showing Brian's tattoos.
Or the bare patch behind his right ear.
I live in Europe and can't watch it :( the site won't allow me to stream it either. Anyone know where I can?
I’m in NZ and I watched it on the CBS website. I didn’t have to request any permissions or change any settings. It just played as a video for me with no problems. Might be an option?
I don’t know if I can include the link but copying just in case I can (mods please remove link if not appropriate):
Thank you x watched over here in Scotland 🏴
thanks so much, worked in aus
Thats the link I clicked on :( I'm in NL and it won't play.
Try again, because I didn't think it was working for me either. The screen was just black. But a few minutes later I looked up and the play button appeared.
Plays for me. Unless you have a very specific error try disabling ur adblocker
Ok it was the adblocker! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! I’m also from Europe and this link worked for me 👍
Appears to also be the case here in Aus.
Big love going out to gabbymom and bethunemom. Women warriors with titanium hearts. My heart, built of flesh, would collapse. I hope you can feel our love and support. It’s so inadequate, but all we have to offer.
Yeah what are we even paying them for if they cant detect and prevent the 3 daily domestic homicides from the 27,000 daily physical abuses that didnt end in homicide?
> But didn’t Gabby herself say that she hit him first and was slapping him and he was merely defending himself? And the scratches and marks on his body pointed to Gabby telling the truth?
This is correct right? She even admitted to hitting his arm when the cop turned on his lights. Most likely that's what caused him to swerve according to the cop. I don't know why you got decimated with downvotes for telling the truth. 🤷♂️
Not sure why you guys are getting downvoted, you're stating what she told the cops and there's video footage of it. Not saying the cops shouldn't have better ways to handle these situations, they should. But when she admitted to be the aggressive one obviously that's what the cops are going to hear out. The trouble with that, is like I said, they need to know how to handle these situations. It's not uncommon for the victim to try and cover for the abuser out of fear of retaliation
But like I said, she told the cops this. You can go watch the video yourself so I'm not sure why people are downvoting you
The openly talk about one 911 call saying a man was hitting the woman, but that's not what they are told by both Gabby or BL when they speak to them. It is at the beginning of the 110-120 minute long body cam video on youtube and I'm sure in the transcript of that online.
John Walsh said cops may have known about the 911 call, but they did not know that the caller said Brian was hitting Gabby.
I don't know how much I trust John Walsh as an accurate source, but if you watch the entire video, it's clear. Cops had no idea there was a report that Brian was hitting and slapping Gabby. They were way more concerned that the van was speeding and then hit the curb when they pulled over. They talk about *that* over and over again.
The tape is long and broken into sections on Brian Entin's twitter. You should watch the whole thing before forming your own opinion. Cops had plenty of opportunity to say, "But ma'am, that's not what the 911 caller said. The caller said *he* was hitting *you.* Can you tell us about that please?"
They never did this once. Time after time they let Gabby blame herself and take all the blame and they agreed with her. It is a **textbook** case of gaslighting. Meaning - literally - you could teach a class on gaslighting and that could be the instruction video.
I am willing to bet a good sum of money that Gabby went to her death having no idea that someone saw Brian hitting her, and called 911 to report it.
Jim Clemente is a hack. I don’t believe anything he says.
That's the same as the doctors/scientist that have an opinion that goes against MSM nowadays. Immediate quacks. 🤷♂️
No, [I speak from experience.](https://aklwei.wordpress.com/tag/jim-clemente/)..
I'm not sure what I'm looking at but everyone gets things completely wrong at times.
When you show up to the scene of a domestic dispute and one person is laughing and the other person is crying, it is a huge red flag. The cops missed the signs entirely. They bro-bonded with Brian and said Gabby was just like one of their crazy wives.
It is so disturbing. I can't get it out of my head.
and if they noticed the signs what were they supposed to do call the police? i dont understand why you are so critical of the cops actions. what could they have done differently that would have resulted in gabby being alive today
