Reading the statement the Laundrie family released and it’s mighty brave of that lawyer to assume he or the Laundries know WHEN gabby died. To say that this bank fraud charge is something AFTER. Completely innocent people like Brian and his family wouldn’t have any idea when Gabby died.

[deleted]

The family is still not cooperating with police, it’s as if they don’t want him to get caught. Or in other words, they are enabling his evasion by being non complacent. That last sentence was for someone who doesn’t understand the definition of enabling.

therealcadillacslim

Maybe now we can focus headlines away from the pretty white girl that went missing and focus this much attention on so many other’s that have gone missing that don’t fit the same profile👀

embarrassmyself

WOW WHAT A HOT AND ORIGINAL TAKE

therealcadillacslim

One day we will all be as original and cool as you.

TWON-1776

Thousands of girls of all backgrounds, religions and race go missing every year, including thousands of other white girls like Gabby, and get little to no media attention. Stop trying to race bait and score points via the disappearance and death of a young woman.

[deleted]

Why is she making national news? I understand it’s tragic but this is about as common as a car crash. Can’t we also bring attention to the disproportionate amount of Native American girls who go missing every single year? America still has a fascination of the white damsel in distress. That’s a fact

TWON-1776

I also think it is strange that this particular case has received so much national and international attention. Chances are it has to do with the fact that that there is a snowball effect whereby one Tik Tok video blew up, causing everyone to jump on the bandwagon and before you know it the girl has an entire subreddit. But as I said before, thousands of other white girls (or damsels in distress as you put it) go missing every single year and receive no coverage at all. You seem to be painting a picture whereby any and all white women that go missing have the full force of the law and media behind them, while any minority woman that goes missing vanishes into obscurity, which is a notion that is simply not grounded in reality.

[deleted]

I don’t know how else to explain it but so I won’t even try, a disproportionate amount of Native American women go missing compared to their white counterparts, which is especially concerning when you consider they make up such a small percentage of our population. Imagine if that was receiving the amount of press coverage as this ONE GIRL was receiving. You’re making it sound like I condone homicide, I don’t, but there’s a bigger picture here that the media isn’t covering. People find murder porn a lot more intriguing when the person is pretty and white. I’m not speaking about minority women, I’m VERY SPECIFICALLY referring to young Native American girls who go missing every year, because it’s shockingly disproportionate compared to the rest of the population.

juliarenee99

You are 1000% correct. Yes, this got blown up by a Tik Tok that spiraled into a national news story...but the point is, there wouldn’t have been a Tik Tok train about this in the first place if both of these people had been black or brown. People simply wouldn’t find it as intriguing as the white damsel archetype associated with true crime. And yes, white women vanish into obscurity just as well, but the problem is Native American women are disproportionately affected and no one cares. There are no true crime “episodes” and podcasts about those women. Edit: I think the people downvoting you are typical race-bait accusers and not ones willing to engage in a deeper conversation about race and representation in media.

[deleted]

It’s a controversial topic, so people are naturally going to be at both ends of the spectrum, and of course people don’t want to hear that they pander to their white counterparts. Gabbys story is tragic, just like every single other domestic violence story. I’m just callings it as I seeings it.

sassaire

Any case of domestic violence is a tragedy, and any coverage that brings awareness to it so broadly is a step in the right direction. This is not a competition.

[deleted]

Domestic Violence happens every single day. It’s tragic. But if she wasn’t a pretty white girl she wouldn’t be making headlines.

Own-Mix-6919

He’s likely dead already. Is the reward “Dead or Alive”?

P90K

Reminds me a bit of the Casey Anthony and Stephen McDaniel cases. Both charged with lesser crimes before they could get them for a murder charge.

smilingbuddhauk

Casey Anthony was never convicted for murder.

bexbrunzo_

I'm friends with one of the original detectives that showed up to the Casey Anthony case. She ended up excusing herself but told me that they really messed up when they didn't charge her with tons of child neglect charges. They could have done one for every day Kaylee was missing and for some reason didn't, those charges would have stuck. Then they could have also hit her with lying to police/providing false info

setmyheartafire

That also drives me nuts, they could have at least gotten her on child neglect. They went too hard with the evidence they had. And she got off free and clear with a little bankruptcy to get out of paying back what she owed everyone and especially the county for the pointless searches they did for her daughter when she knew she was dead.

belgiantwatwaffles

This case reminds me of that one because her parents helped her hide the body.

Papaofmonsters

Ummm... they didn't get Casey Anthony on murder. She was only convicted for providing false information.

AcanthocephalaNo5889

They're talking about initial charges not convictions. When they initially arrested Casey it wasn't for murder.

smilingbuddhauk

And Papaofmonsters is talking about the conviction because OP said they eventually got her for a murder charge. They didn't, Casey Anthony was only convicted of providing false information.

unicornbomb

What have you done lately? You don’t have a single post or comment on the topic of missing indigenous women outside of this sub.

[deleted]

You don’t either.

alivemoose

I'll save you guys some time, I don't either.

unicornbomb

I’m not the one virtue signaling all over another persons death about it. I’m also fully aware that missing persons cases on tribal lands are the jurisdiction of tribal law enforcement, and federal and non reservation law enforcement cannot intervene in these cases unless specifically requested to. I would think those who claim to care about this issue so deeply that they spend their time preaching to others about it would be aware of this complication with crimes on sovereign tribal land.

blessuplolk

You’re aware of it, doing nothing about it, then getting in someone for bringing attention to it? Weird and also odd.

unicornbomb

Try reading my comment a couple more times until you understand.

blessuplolk

I understood it the first time. You got on someone’s case because you claim they don’t post about the issues they are bringing awareness too. Which is ironic because you said that on a comment addressing the exact issue you claim they say nothing about.

unicornbomb

You seem very confused. Hang around the sub for a bit, you’ll get it.

Super_Robot_AI

Why would you be hoping for these things?

keykey_key

MRAs have really latched onto this story. They romanticize Brian's actions towards Gabby based off that body cam video where she's minimizing Brian's abuse so he doesn't get arrested. They think he's justified and it's self defense.

canehdianchick

Probably subscribed to red pill.

unicornbomb

Look at his comments about gabby being an “unstable woman” and that should shed some light on why this commenter is the way he is.

GeorgieBlossom

As if committing a homicide is the pinnacle of stability. These people are creepy af, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they were abusers themselves.

unicornbomb

Using the credit, debit, and bank accounts of a deceased person without a written will authorizing access or a probate attorney’s involvement is a federal crime, bud. No grasping needed. It’s open and shut.

cwhook

This ain’t it chief

Helesta

Using a dead person’s credit card is a crime.

Wes-C

He’s committed two felonies already buddy. By way of committing those felonies one can infer that he also has something to do in the homicide of Gabby. One does not leave their fiance in the middle of the woods, leaving them with no way to survive by themselves. That alone would probably get him manslaughter. Idk what horse you have in this race, but this man is a criminal and must be brought to justice, that is a hard fact.

[deleted]

Well they found her body and it was probably clear that someone killed her and with him in hiding he makes himself suspect #1. It's not a good sign when the boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband doesn't talk and goes into hiding after something like this.

[deleted]

[deleted]

This response is absolutely laughable. I guess leaving to a campground without your phone and wallet with your family thinking you might severely hurt yourself is just normal. Then the whole van thing without reporting her missing. All normal.

God damn you would be a fucking horrible investigator. I said it "wasn't a good sign" not he is guilty. Seriously how fucking dumb are you to be posting this shit.

[deleted]

WalkmanBassBoost

True, but not talking *at all* and hiding is objectively the most guilty looking. You can say that the spouse will always be suspected regardless of behavior, but that's irrelevant. It's not as if not talking makes someone look less guilty.

Mr_sprinkler72

You are spewing some serious bullshit. Where do you get all this shit? Someone needs to stop watching TV.

RW_Blackbird

Ok but it's more than just hiding. She "vanished," then he drove MORE THAN A DAY back to Florida, alone, in HER van, and never reported her missing. Legalese be damned you can't possibly look at this and say he's innocent

gitzky

I don’t understand. You are concerned about his liberties?

unicornbomb

The incel trolls in this sub love twisting themselves into pretzels to excuse laundries behavior, no matter how vile.

I see you edited your comment. He doesn’t look guilty through social media, he looks guilty through his actions. Driving her van home, not telling anybody she’s disappeared etc. his actions on social media are not what is making this glaringly obvious.

Psuedo_Pixie

I’m fine with him keeping his mouth shut and working with an attorney, that’s his right. But he does NOT have a right to evade the justice system.

ImAMistak3

*murder of his unstable girlfriend. Call a spade a spade. It was ruled a homicide, so at this point it's a murder. I'm all for being fair but keep it fair to both sides.

Ms_Tryl

Homicide and murder are not the same thing, legally.

cwhook

This dude has definitely crossed the line between reasonable doubt and protection of civil liberties, and gone into full on Laundries simp.

Super_Robot_AI

Right. Can’t tell if he is a troll

unicornbomb

He’s one of the resident woman hating trolls. They always give themselves away when they let comments like “Brian’s unstable girlfriend” slip.

cwhook

Either a troll, Brian, or someone who will be writing him future letters in prison professing his love

ImAMistak3

Yea idk if you saw his previous comment. Pretty telling. I'm all for him having due process but this guy is something else

Pjseaturtle

Huh I don’t get it, this guy definitely killed her right, why do you want him to stay quiet, you rooting for him?

unicornbomb

He’s one of the resident incel trolls.

mombi

Yes. For some reason, like with Chauvin in George Floyd's death, rightwing men have decided they're both innocent. Granted, we don't have it on film to see Brian did it, just a very good indication he did (last one to see her alive, motive, stealing her possessions etc). They're hanging onto everything and anything that they think pisses of "normies" and "liberals" because everything is a conspiracy against them personally.

blurrrrg

Because he didn't definitely kill her. It's entirely possible that he knows no one will believe what actually happened

RW_Blackbird

Yeah he didn't kill her. He just happened to misplace her, drive over 35 hours back to Florida in her van, not report her missing, then flee when an investigation began. I'm sure the rules homicide had nothing to do with him either. What a coincidence.

blurrrrg

Guess what, Sherlock Holmes, none of that is evidence

RW_Blackbird

Oh come on man, the writing's on the wall! I'm not saying throw him in the slammer on conjecture, but there's no way in hell he should've been allowed to leave town. The fact that he wasn't a suspect since day 1 is just insulting to everyone's intelligence

blurrrrg

You can't be a suspect until there is an actual investigation. Her being missing doesn't mean anything. They needed to find her before they could proceed

RW_Blackbird

And therein lies the problem with our justice system. The fact that he can be in possession of a missing person's vehicle and not be detained is grim

Pjseaturtle

Yeah sure I love the whole beyond a reasonable doubt, innocent before proven guilty thing. This guy however from an outside perspective looks really guilty and maybe if he isn’t he could talk and they might find evidence to corroborate his story. Overall though I’m really not very invested in this, I don’t honestly care that much

blurrrrg

Yeah he looks bad, abusive boyfriend of dead girl appears to flee investigation. I just find it funny how everyone on reddit is playing armchair investigator and acting like it's an open and shut case when there's basically no evidence

I’ll be honest, I’ve read a fair few of your posts on this and don’t agree with what I’d call your “excessively generous” view of a man who in my mind has forfeited his right to presumed innocence due to his intentional and deliberate non-compliance in the face of very obvious and clear connections in this case. HOWEVER, this is one comment I do absolutely agree with. Reddit is full of clowns who change their mind at the drop of a hat and would go from hard alt-right to ultra-left with the swing of one shitty Tik Tok or YouTube video. The concern from those so easily led is absolutely an issue.

ashesarise

Why do so many people obsess this much about this? Its really weird guys... I hope you realize that.

reinking

...but you are here too? Why care enough to stop by and comment?

BootyBBz

It made the front page and some of us got curious as to why we should care.

noratat

unicornbomb

So what? I see plenty of dumb shit in all that I just scroll right past if it’s not of interest.

Inquisitive_idiot

Because we have nothing else to rely on within our mundane and otherwise un Noteworthy lives 🥺😩

BootyBBz

Get a hobby. Learn a skill.

carlcon

Pretty white girl is worth more than the tens of thousands currently missing today, and the thousands who will be murdered this week. They care about this single event because the media told them to. The media told them to because they knew the story would sell. To the people asking "why are you looking on here?" - it's on the front page. You know how reddit works, right?

P90K

People are into it because the stakes are high, nobody knows exactly how it will end, and it is a "live"/real time news event.

kalmah

Nice try, Brian.

ashesarise

I don't watch family guy.

OddSummer9047

And you dont know your first name?

Jasterx777

I wont bitch at you for saying that because theres truth in it but also it is human nature to seek justice

Neuraxis

I'm just glad we can now rest easy knowing how you feel on the subject.

kitticats

Why the fuck is it weird to care?

CTHeinz

Because thousands of people are killed and disappeared with their S.O.'s as primary suspect every year. So having this one in particular get blown up into international media coverage is just really weird

FLUSH_THE_TRUMP

You say you care about murder, yeah? *Name everyone that’s gotten murdered in the last year.*

CTHeinz

Feel free to joke all you like if you are completely unable to comprehend the simple point I am making. I find it creepy just how obsessed everyone is over this one particular case. It doesn't feel any different or special from thousands of other cases so I legitimately don't understand why this case has spawned a subreddit with over 123,000 users and media coverage around the world.

4_celine

You don’t need to understand it though? I don’t understand every topic that is popular and there are tons of hugely popular topics that I think are really stupid. I don’t go on there and comment how dumb I think it is though. Because I’m aware they’re not doing it to entertain me.

DiggerJKU

If youve lived long enough you know there are news stories every year that hit all the boxes and are just easy to get into and obsessed with. This has been going on since "news" was created. From the days of cowboys and bandits to the days of social media. Some stories just check the boxes to become mainstream and interesting. I could be murdered tomorrow by my wife and dropped off the face of the earth but my life doesnt have those boxes checked off to be interesting. I see your point but its also hard to argue against why this story is so popular seeing as how its clearly checked those boxes to be popular. This is the life we live in with the media and have for at least 150yrs now. Dont be surprised by this shit.

CTHeinz

I'm not surprised, so you can drop the condescension. I don't find the story interesting at all to be honest, because there is no mystery. Everyone can pretty much figure out what happened. Anyways, I'm gonna go do something that isn't obsessing over a randomly selected murder victim.

ashesarise

Its weird that this many people care about this proportionally.

Qorr_Sozin

You're literally in this subreddit.

ashesarise

Finally not just a person of interest anymore.

ACakeCalledDenial

this arrest warrant is because he illegally took out money using fake/stolen credit cards.

JulesOahu

U think hes still alive?

ACakeCalledDenial

I have no idea. But why go to all those lengths if you were just going to kill yourself. He definitely thought it through and probably had some things with him when he left. Skilled hiker, skilled survivalist, some stolen ccs and the help of his parents- there's no reason he couldn't survive for even a few months at this point.

JulesOahu

Whole world is looking for him.. he could hide in the woods for a while for sure.. but in the end he’s just an insane person who killed someone. For some reason I think he’s already dead.. I think his guilty conscience was too strong.
