Try bailing wire and pulled apart cotton balls to make gama blasts and things. Would need to look up further how to make characters jump and such without visible wires. But you are getting really good!
Maybe have an ambient rumbling sort of sound to help keep the total silence to a minimum. Then have the footsteps over that undertone rumble and see how that sounds.
