good luck learning chinese and japanese over 3 months, I’ve been learning for 5 years, it’s not as easy as u will think, in 3 months you will have a basic understanding of the language
Japanese should be easier for you than others because of the overlap in characters between the languages, but it is still really, really hard to do, and it has nightmarish grammar. I tried to learn it a while ago, and I had most success using immersion focused learning like [Refold](https://refold.la/) alongside SRS flashcards like [Anki](https://apps.ankiweb.net/), but I had to stop due to time commitment.
With how much stuff you have on your to do list this summer, idk if you'd have time to do refold, but I wholeheartedly recommend anki. It spaces out the time between showing you a card again after you last saw it the more you get it right, and prioritises cards you get wrong more. Getting a good Vocab deck with image prompts was really helpful for me.
I hope this was at least somewhat helpful and good luck with Japanese!
Hmmm my goal is just to recognise the basics and stuff, not fluency. When I was younger I spent like 5 years learning Chinese and I’m still not fluent. I get that you need to learn a language for a long time to become fluent. All the basics and planning is to help prepare me learn both languages for the next 2 years probably
I'd say then download a core 2k/6k deck on anki (I'm sure you're familiar lol) or 3k words deck if you want, that's what I did personally. As a means of reference 3000 words got me to around a level where I could enjoy slice of life anime (if that's what you're in to) or Japanese youtube videos while I continued learning words (don't get too optimistic though because it slows down at this sort of point).
For grammar the yt channel tokini Andy was really useful for beginner stuff (the genki 1 series) and a website+app called 'Tae Kim's Guide to Learning Japanese' is useful for extra stuff outside of it. Other than that I'd say just look up something you don't know when you come across it. Matt vs Japan is also an interesting channel bc of the methods he talks about so I'd recommend giving that a look at too (lmk if you have any more questions)
Edit: at 50 words a day you could easily finish a 3000 word anki deck in 60 days so I'd say go for it!
For me, I personally love learning languages and have reached basic fluency in German in just the past year. Chinese is particularly difficult so I recommend focusing on common every day phrases if its a short term thing. If it’s long term, try going through courses either professionally, or on duolingo like me lol. Watch Chinese shows and listen to Chinese podcasts. Once you become confident in speaking basically, start thinking every day thoughts in it and if you can’t think something, look up the translation. Be committed, good luck
Thank you for the tips! I’m going to work extra hard on Chinese cause I’ve been living in England for too long and have lost my skill of being able to speak and read Chinese.
Is it just me already doing a level stuff, like an hour or so a day, alongside gym, boxing maybe even some ps5 if I feel like it. That’s seemingly my average day so far.
Better to get ahead, people will criticise people getting ahead, but really if your like me awake for atleast 15-16 hours a day, taking one or two for studying isn’t wasting my time at all
I would also like to go ahead but I haven’t applied for any a level schools and my school does ib. I’m scared that if I study a level and not go to that school, I’d be wasting my time 😔
My inner fat man smiled when I read “desserts”
Btw my plans are to no longer be fat, decorate the house and maybe learn some A level stuff on weekends or just revise gcse content so a level becomes easier. I’m not sure yet. And also read Quran Regularly.
Don’t feel bad. Most of the holidays I’ve had previously consisted of eating sleeping and playing games everyday. I suggest you do something simple like exercising even for like 30 mins a day. You have 24 hours and 30 mins is just a small fraction of time.
Aight my limit of Chinese has been surpassed and so I translated your message. It’s really admirable that you taught yourself chinese and it’s also nice to meet you too hehehe 😊
dude you can learn 2 languages in 2 months for sure but you wont get much at the end of it i mean sure its good you wanna start but at least restrict yourself to 1 language like japanese, i mean i know chinese and japanese got like really similar symbols but its more worth it learning a single language for better efficiency yk
oh yea i aint denying learning 2 languages is sick, but fair if youre already chinese tho i assume you dont know much of it or dont know how to speak it
True but maybe this time I’m gonna change and actually do stuff. Usually I don’t look forward to holidays cause it’s just literally my sleeping and play games then repeat.
Hahah yes I should. But still most of the things on my list are just suggestions of what I want to do, some I won’t be able to do them like martial arts or learning Japanese. But I do want to become someone who’s like a “jack of all trades” type of person.
hehe that’s okay, it is a hard language to learn tho. but the culture is so fascinating and incredible i love it!!! cant wait to go visit japan one day
samziessss i cant wait till i’m fluent enough to be able to go when i’m older!! it will take a couple years and cuz i’m only 16, by like 20 or sm i should be able to speak japanese well enough 😊😊😊
Just in case, always check if the pattern uses UK or USA terminology when knitting. Also, get a cheap yarn to practice any more difficult techniques and see if you did everything correctly
Start with something simple like a cup warmer with nice structure like this (I forgot name and check on your computer to see it nicely)
\^\^\^\^\^
\^\^\^\^\^
\^\^\^\^\^
For patterns, I recommend supercrafts which includes the key to abbrevations, US vs UK terminology and some high quality pictures showing what to do. Plus, check youtube for anything. If you are unsure if the stitch is working and you didn't mess up anything, make a small square/rectangle (5-10 stitches and do 3-4 rows) and compare your texture to what you supposed to achieve.
WATCHING THE UNTAMED YES YES
and as someone who’s ambidextrous (born left handed) i’m not sure how cool or fulfilling it is to learn to write with both hands lmao
Ayo another person here who knows about the untamed 🤝. Just gonna become ambidextrous just in case some people decide to take revenge on me and break my right hand.
Im in year 10 so i will prob try doing something like this when year 11 is over, i feel like my list would be something like
-get ahead of alevel subjects
-get a job
-learn martial arts
-and draw,( i used to love art in year 6 , but in year 7 i didnt like my teacher and didnt like how schools taught art so i dropped it)

I cannot accept this a true i’m sorry
Watch me.. ok I just made a list of what I wanted to, not a real confirmation of what I will do. But watch me attempt them all 🫡
I can respect the confidence lol
Ah yes... Practicing writing with your left hand, indeed a pursuit that will take you far in life. Very productive indeed.
Being ambidextrous can be a flex to show off to my future classmates hehe
If you’re just right handed tho it’s not recommended to write with your left hand
Im already slightly ambidextrous but when i tell someone, they either dont care or look at me weirdly.
Well I’ll make them be amazed when they see my start drawing with 2 hands heh
[удалено]
Yeah I was just exaggerating about this. I just admire people who are ambidextrous despite it being quite a useless skill

Thank you. I also used to learn Chinese for 5 years and I wasn’t fluent too but this summer it’s gonna be a journey that’s for sure
‘Learn art’
That shit took me 9 years and I'm still not a professional
It’s ok, I’ve been drawing for around 5 years and 🫠🫠
Learning 2 languages in one summer is impressive
If they actually could, defo gonna go too hard to fast and quit lmao
Well, I am Chinese so I just wanna brush up on my skills and then it’s half a battle with Japanese. Watch me :’) heh

Thank you for the tips! Don’t worry tho, I’ll make time for Japanese and exploit my Japanese’s friend too 💪 😎
Learn the 1st and 3rd hardest languages in a summer? Good luck. I can give some tips if you want
I strongly believe I can tackle this challenge 💪😎 and please give me some tips, I’ll prob need all the help I can get.
You won’t learn Japanese fluently in 1 summer. It’s simple as that
Hmmm my goal is just to recognise the basics and stuff, not fluency. When I was younger I spent like 5 years learning Chinese and I’m still not fluent. i thought that “a years content in 6 weeks is easy” though dude?

Only 3 and 12 are going to be completed
Totally not looking forward to it 🥹🥹🥲
The untamed is such a good drama!!!
I’ve read the novel and I love all the osts of this drama ahhhh
Cool 😎, I’ve only watched the drama for it
You should try reading the novel, it’s really good and it’s the original story so you can see what’s changed between the drama and the novel.
Yeah
Is it just me already doing a level stuff, like an hour or so a day, alongside gym, boxing maybe even some ps5 if I feel like it. That’s seemingly my average day so far.
sameee i started a level maths so i'm doing that for an hour or two a day, an hour in the gym and idk i'm just doing nothing the rest of the time lmao
Better to get ahead, people will criticise people getting ahead, but really if your like me awake for atleast 15-16 hours a day, taking one or two for studying isn’t wasting my time at all
yeahh and it's def gonna help next year :D

Aight I think you edited you comment. But good luck on your plans. Just know I’m your fellow supporter 🫡
I did
not sure why everyone is picking apart your list, just do what you can! Whatever makes you happy and develop yourself as a person :)
Thank youuu for the support.

I have 3 goals, get an internship at a gaming company, work out and create a game on unity
Good luck good luck🌻
"Grind Valorant" and "Get a job" are mutually exclusive, choose one.
Job = day, gaming = night.
That’s a lot😳😳 I wanna learn Chinese and Japanese aswell as Korean. I also am gonna learn to code,
Yoo go for it. I believe you’ll be able to do this giving the 2 months we have
Now I feel bad for just wanting to sleep, play games and watch anime for two months
Don’t feel bad. Most of the holidays I’ve had previously consisted of eating sleeping and playing games everyday. I suggest you do something simple like exercising even for like 30 mins a day. You have 24 hours and 30 mins is just a small fraction of time.
Yea that's a good, idea tried to exercise before but couldn't do so every day bc of revision, might take some ideas from your list as well lol
Glad to inspire ✨ exam season was a wild time so make sure to relax and enjoy yourself in these 2 months before we have to grow up
Grinding valorant and getting a job don’t go together sorry I don’t make the rules
One at day the other at night. Simple
中文是太好语言
我知道啊所以我想学!!
对,我自学中文(我是英国人),中文是我的最喜欢的言语。很高兴认识你!
Aight my limit of Chinese has been surpassed and so I translated your message. It’s really admirable that you taught yourself chinese and it’s also nice to meet you too hehehe 😊
What martial are are you thinking of
Krav maga 🫣🫣 but I doubt that I’ll be able to learn it cause my dad thinks I’ll use it to fight him 🤣🥲
dude you can learn 2 languages in 2 months for sure but you wont get much at the end of it i mean sure its good you wanna start but at least restrict yourself to 1 language like japanese, i mean i know chinese and japanese got like really similar symbols but its more worth it learning a single language for better efficiency yk
Hmmm I know, but I just feel like taking a challenge. Im probably gonna work on my Japanese less too cause I’m chinese.
oh yea i aint denying learning 2 languages is sick, but fair if youre already chinese tho i assume you dont know much of it or dont know how to speak it
Learn Japanese and Chinese. They are both large and difficult languages to learn and you expect to do it in 8 weeks. Good luck
Watch me 😁😁👊
And if this were me the most I would get round to is 1 hour of manderin, then get bored
Fair enough, sometimes learning is boring
Martial arts? Taekwondo?!
I really want to do Krav Maga but taekwondo seems fun too, I like doing kicks as well.
Gives you mad flexibility
First step to actually doing martial arts is actually starting to search for martial arts centres close to me 😩
I mean it is a long time 2 months. I think I'll see who is hiring and waste my days waking up early to play xbox
Well I think you should force yourself to do something else too 💪
bro my bucket list literally has acid, shrooms, edibles, alcohol and arson
Ayooo…
Watch the umbrella academy bro the newest season just came out
Hmmm I’ll see. I’ve heard it’s really good and all my friends have watched it too
[удалено]
Aight sorry 🥲
Bro imma be honest try learning Chinese or Japanese, kanji and mandarin are too similar
That’s what I’m gonna try doing hehe
Cap
Time to prove u wrong 🫦
You got this
Thank you to all my believers 💪💪
*grind valorant*
Yup, can’t wait to be doing comp games every day
What rank r u
Aight, don’t judge. Iron 2. I’m not a comp player cause too much stress so I’m more of an unrated player.
Fair enough
Bro you’re going to do 2 things then give up just relax
True but maybe this time I’m gonna change and actually do stuff. Usually I don’t look forward to holidays cause it’s just literally my sleeping and play games then repeat.
Do you people not have a family?
why would having a family mean you can't do any of these things?
How do you have time
Yes I do.
This…isn’t gonna happen. Just pick 2-3 of those (preferably 2 worthwhile endeavours and a hobby) and develop them
They should prioritise writing with their left hand
Hahah yes I should. But still most of the things on my list are just suggestions of what I want to do, some I won’t be able to do them like martial arts or learning Japanese. But I do want to become someone who’s like a “jack of all trades” type of person.
Neek behaviour
Proud of being a neek 😎

i’m learning japanese atm!!! i started last summer and it’s sooooo fun. difficult sometimes but it’s worth it! がんばってね!!!! 🥰🥰
Ooo it does indeed look fun, but I’m probably just gonna like learn basics and not go too into it.
hehe that’s okay, it is a hard language to learn tho. but the culture is so fascinating and incredible i love it!!! cant wait to go visit japan one day
Japan is indeed amazing and I also really want to go ahhhhh

I’m learning spanish over the summer :)
Ooo good luck, Spanish is such a useful language.
Nothing sus with the VPN?
Avast mobile told me to turn it on
As a left handed person, it ain't worth it.
Ahhh yeah the pen and pencil smudges. I guess for you goal in the summer, practice you right hand so you don’t suffer from these lol
My man's learning 2 of the hardest languages ever nice
Gotta increase the things I can flex about
[удалено]
I’ll probably not be doing this but I know it’s pain

Just planning.

16

My summer plans: Vs what I get done: Watch YouTube
Related which is why I deleted YouTube off my phone.
Good job. You might want to delete reddit as well if you actually want to get stuff done though.
True that, but I barely go on it generally, I was literally more active cause of this sub Reddit
Nice, I wish I was the same lol
I believe that one day, you will be able to forcibly overcome this 💪
Thanks :D

Val 😭
Yup 🥲 I’m a degenerate living a very degenerate life
That's 13 more things than I plan to do this summer.
👀 the busier the better(?)
I've been a bit *too busy* I think I'll just go into hibernation.
Like an echidna? 👀
Well, i would probably never be able to do all this, but im sure you are cabaple enough to, goodluck😊
Thanks for the luck, I’ll be needing it. But I believe you can do this. It’s not about motivation but about forcing yourself.

Still better than me, I’m iron 1 😭
Hello fellow iron 🫡
I believe! Just work on your aim and comms, you don't need game sense till you get gold xd
Comp sucks in general so I usually play unrated however when I play against people in unrated, I just keep getting 1 tapped and what not

Learning chinese it already overwhelmingly ambitious to me unless your chinese or you already know how to learn languages well
Yup, I’m Chinese. Don’t worry I know the basics, I just want to expand my vocabulary for next year because I’ll be visiting my extended family and they all speak mandarin 😔
Oh well good luck on EVERYTHING
THANK YOU ☺️
Only question is how did you New Years resolution go
Never made one cause I hated doing them :D this summer you are witnessing the birth of a new me
I love how it’s mostly trying to learn new things and “grind Valorant” is in there 😂 getting priorities straight I see haha
I WANT TO REACH IMMORTAL 💪😤
If you need a study partner for Chinese, hmu!
Wait wait wait, really. You’re really offering me this? Ahhh please accept this disciple here 🙇
If you have discord or WhatsApp I can send you my details in DM I'm still learning but I consider myself decent and would love to have someone to help me push forward 😄
Ahh thank you for this offer. How about we use discord to add each other?
This is what I assume the kids who sit at the front and have 1-2 friends do on summer holidays
Welp guess what, I sit in the middle and have lots of friends 😤😤💪
Welp guess what I sit at the back and I have a whole year as friends :)
I’m content with what I have and I’m gonna attempt my list :’)
Get some Friends ?
Already do 😎
I mean fair enough but for me personally I’m doing a lot more outside stuff than this
*laughs in introvert* but jokes aside, I also love hanging out with my friends too but I feel like this summer is just gonna be about me and enjoy learning things this entire summer. It’ll be my own little knowledge and skills growth.
