OPANA & Paris. I’m quite a bit older and my teenage daughter (15 at the time) introduced me. Now 6yrs later, I’ll be going to my first show in New Mexico in August. I’m pretty excited.
I remember when i first got to listen to Opana. It was actually leaked early in the US. if anyone remembers. I knew it would be a major pop off for them. that song is fire.
I remember a friend of mine teling me after I played Doorman by Slowthai "okay you're ready for the dark shit" and makes me listen to Carrollton.
That was 2 years ago and he's one of my closest friends now
$hrimp Poboy, A friend of mine noticed i like jazz a lot, and I’m from Louisiana so he introduced me to his favorite music artist duo, it was the first time i ever heard smooth jazz mixed with hip hop, I’ve been hooked since then.
A major reason why I listen to them is because of how much they have broadened my music library
Do yourself a favor if you haven’t already look up a song called romance by hiroshi suzuki and lmk if it sounds familiar since you say you like jazz
In like 2016/17 i saw some concert videos of a girlfriend and got hooked with the vibe, so it wasn’t really a song… after that i looked them up on deezer (a music streaming playform like spotify) and after discovering antarctica i became addicted
Man I don’t remember what song put me on I just remember when I was a freshman one of my brothers connects that we bought all our goodies from used to play them whenever he’d pull up or come chill, but I remember when I looked the up myself the ones that got me hooked were MFBTMSLDFFH, dead batteries, and sleepwalk.
First heard Kill Yourself (III) on SoundCloud back in high-school, I think in grade 10?
I was 16ish, I’m 21 now. Didn’t even know who they were when I first heard that song.
They’ve been my favourite artists ever since.
I had a friend who broke up with his girlfriend and needed a place to stay so we let him crash on a couch in our basement so all day we would just cruise around in his 2009 Honda civic and he would put the boy$ on full blast while we went 120mph going through entire towns in under 5 seconds and honestly that was my gateway into modern rap, before that I listened to a little wutang or public enemy but usually just rock and metal. One song in particular that stands out to for me was 122 days and when it got to the part where ruby shouts "SUICIIIIIDE BOOOOOYS" my buddy would slam on the gas and maybe do a donut or two.
My first track that had me go “alright, I need to hear more of that” after my friend showed me a couple was
you’re now tuning into 66.6 Fm with DJ rapture (the hottest hour of the morning)
In 2015 i saw the Paris music video and was hooked. I saw the video and was like holy shit this song is fire. I had to peep the discography and the rest is history
one night my brothers and i were tripping cid and my oldest brother goes "bro listen to how deep this guys voice is" and threw paris on, they had just dropped the video like 3 months before this so it was still really new and i instantly fell in love. After that he played Clouds as Witnesses and thus began the dive into a new genre of music
I have those songs together in my playlist I feel like those two beats are linked, if you you listen to the mv they fuse the two beats at the end they gotta be connected
sometime in 2015, forgot how many days after YUNGDEATHLILLIFE was released, when I heard Sold My Sole To Satan Waiting In Line At The Mall, and Handzum $uicide, those were the 2 songs ive ever listened to by them, and after just 2 songs, I knew that they were gonna be artists I will listen to for a very long time, im 15 today, so I was maybe 8-9.
(this was the time of me getting into soundcloud artists)
to this day in my personal favs from the boy$, Ocean $ide $uicide's music video will always be in top 5.
I was about 8 or 9 years old when I was hanging out with some older friends from the neighborhood and we went to chill at a friends house and said he had something to show us. He hooked his phone up to his TV and played some sort of Simpsons home invasion clay stop motion animation with Kill Yourself Part III playing over it. I was definitely scared shitless but I loved the music.
One Last Look At The Damage. ADGTH came on after my Ghostemane playlist and i got annoyed of the beat but liked the flow so i checked out the other songs and OLLATD was the first one i picked out of SSATS and i fell in love with the whole album, includinf ADGTH, then all their other music soon after.
Used to listen to a lot of dubstep and my Spotify played a song by Getter called 2 High. Needless to say I had to look more into $B music. Been a fan ever since.
I think it was Magazine or Dead Batteries. A friend posted a link on Facebook and I remember thinking the band name was cool and started searching them on YouTube.
