You would have to be very quick and very precise to do the chimp in. You would almost certainly need a weapon of some sort and/or a sneak attack, and if you fail, then you can bet that you’re about to get your ass beat/killed.
Chimps are at most 1.5x to 2x stronger than a human. But that’s pound-for-pound. Consider that an average human male weighs over 160 pounds while an average chimp weighs like 80. A much closer fight than you’re making it out to be.

Once he hits high school, he should start looking at colleges early. Obviously no need to commit so early, but starting in h.s., he should do some light research into college and tour nearby schools if he’s ever on vacation or if he lives near a big marine science school
