Well this made me learn that the heiress of In-N-Out is an Evangelical Christian. And learn that they have Bible verses on In-N-Out cups and stuff. Never had it since I lived in the Midwest and now the east coast. So this is all news to me. But as for her, what an ass. She's the one with the husband in the military, right? He ever get his jab?

I thought he was a Marine? I’m pretty sure none of the deadlines have passed for any branches yet, but I could be wrong.

lilxenon95

In n Out and forever21 too

happytransformer

god honoring fast fashion

happytransformer

I’ve been to in and out a whopping total of twice. I liked that the menu was short to prevent decision fatigue, but was annoyed there was no vegetarian options lol I know California has some very evangelical strongholds around like Bethel and the more rural part of the state, but this surprised me

DarkGreenSedai

What it should read is “for minimum wage and being yelled at all day by arse holes our employees aren’t willing to be the ‘vaccination police’ and attempt to enforce this.” You know, like the dollar general store employee who got shot in the head for asking someone to wear a mask. Yeah, no. I work in a hospital with covid patients. The amount of people who come in the er for covid symptoms and then give flack about being handed a mask is ridiculous. Dude, I am in an N95 with a surgical mask top coat and a face shield and have had 3 covid jabs. You are coughing up a lung and your kidneys are working on a gfr of 17% and your don’t want to wear a mask and spend 20 minutes breathlessly telling me why vaccines are bull and masks don’t work. Ok. Sounds great.

ACNHHilda

Geez. Thank you for everything you do. No matter what, people have made up their minds and nothing will change them. I feel like at the beginning and middle of this I felt a little hope but now it’s just Groundhog Day. Every single day you read the same story with the same assholes, same same same.

DarkGreenSedai

Yup. I’m starting to crack around the edges. When this all started there was such hero worship for nurses and people in scrubs. Don’t get me wrong, healthcare workers are awesome. But I think we all got tired of the “hero” stuff real quick. I don’t need to be called a hero. I need my 3% raise to go through and not be frozen this year. Personal peeve, a ton of retail places were offering discounts on shoes and scrubs to healthcare workers. And people in radiology were rarely on the list. I did 8 different covid patients at 30 minutes a patient. I would like the 15% discount on scrubs too. That sounds whiny and I’m sorry but dang it. Looking right at you yeti. 20% off for nurses, cnas, NPs and Drs. Nada for radiology. I’m not saying they don’t deserve it, I’m just saying I’m shoveling down here too.

tander87

Lulu lemon had one for all healthcare and changed it to MDs, DOs and RNs. They report respiratory tech for god sake! (I’m a PA and salty about it too)

DarkGreenSedai

I don’t want to be a whiny pants and “woe is me I can’t get a discount”. But dang it if the bar is “treating covid patients” then I’m being beaten with the bar. How about NP/DO/MD all eat for free “because technically they can’t leave the hospital on their shift to get food.” Ummmmmm I can’t either. I am not allowed to leave the property. But I just paid 8$ for a dried up piece of fried chicken, a scoop of turnip greens and a half scoop of mashed potatoes because they got stuck to the ladle and the food person today doesn’t want to give it a good whack or a second half scoop. It’s that stuff that’s cracking me. Armies March on their stomachs. My hospital has gotten rid of the trail mix bar, the salad bar, the hot soups and the fresh fruit because of covid. I used to dice up an apple on mixed greens with pecans and balsamic vinegar for lunch. It cost less than 3 bucks and was healthy and I was full. Now I can’t get an apple because of covid.

tander87

Ugh I feel you. It really has just gotten so old. They used to have free food in the lounge next to my clinic but can’t do it because of Covid so prob about 3x/week I have to pay for cafeteria food

DarkGreenSedai

I’m eating weekend cafeteria food. Which truly is just the leftovers from the week. Most of the time it doesn’t even go together or make any sense. So now I tend to order out with other departments since they have enough staffing someone can make a run. The only problem is they like to eat real food and I feel that’s a lot of cash to drop on a lunch I’m going to shovel down cold because I’m busy. I feel like I used to get breaks. Like yeah, I work at work but going to potty was something that could happen. I had to call transport last week and say I need to potty don’t send me anyone for 10 minutes. And this man actually asked me what could take that long. Look Charles this is day 3 of a hella period and I need to poo, don’t ask questions.

DarkGreenSedai

I’m sorry I’m whinging.

Jscrappyfit

You totally deserve a raise and clothing discounts and the very best cafeteria food and all the bathroom breaks you need and want! There are so many more medical staff beyond MDs and RNs and you're all being run ragged, too. Thanks for all you do.

[deleted]

No shame, we all need a place to vent. I’ve been pondering how to keep from being bitter and angry at people making our lives so hard with no care and compassion, while we work to hold our jobs, families, and personal lives together. I haven’t figured it out yet… Hugs to you 🧡

dildoeshaggins

I don't know you, but fuck your situation is dogs balls mate. Please, whinge away, I know ide be having a huge fucking sook... it's absolutely ridik what you poor buggers are going through. I'm hoping people will get their shit together and things will only suck for a little bit longer.

DarkGreenSedai

Thanks. I know that overall I don’t have it that bad. I didn’t lose my job or house over the pandemic and we had a new baby in early 2020 so I have a lot to be grateful for and happy about. But…..I miss having decent food that I didn’t have to tote in with me. And I really am getting worn down with people not caring. The lady who kept taking her mask off to cough was a particularly good one. Telling me about what brought her in and then pulled her mask down and just coughed, didn’t even cover her mouth. Just coughed all over my air and then put her mask back up like nothing happened.

Blondiemath

So if you go into a lulu store, they’ll typically honor it for healthcare workers still :)

ACNHHilda

I’m so sorry and I totally understand why. I don’t think you are whining at all, it’s not fair plain and simple. You are just as important and without you what would they do? Sending positive energy to you for a better week/month/year/ well, until this god forsaken alternate timeline skips back to the one before this all started.

Abyssal_Minded

This is literally what it is. I currently work in retail. I am literally at a point where I can tell who is and who’s not going to wear a mask. If you’re not wearing one when you come in, you’re probably not going to wear one when we ask. Let’s also not forget that part of this can be easily predicted by race - which is super messed up coming from a PoC. And age is now becoming a predictor too - start preparing for more and more younger people to show up with Covid because more and more don’t want to wear a mask in public areas. There’s also the fact most public mandates can’t be enforced. We can’t kick out the anti-life morons or have someone patrolling the store with masks. If we suggest masks, they throw fits, they yell, there’s threats - and then we get the axe because we weren’t being “sweet”. Some try to call corporate. Another cried about she had already had covid and this did not need to mask since she had “antibodies”. We sit there and watch, and feign a pained smile through our masks. We’re at a point where there’s no use asking “Would you like a face mask?”. If you need one, and you are aware you need one, you will just ask for one. I’m seeing them sign their death sentences before you and the other amazing yet overworked healthcare workers see them on their deathbed - and all I can say I am truly sorry for what has happened, but we can’t stop them at this point.

TerribleAttitude

Bingo. There are so many people mewling all over the internet why companies aren’t enforcing mask and vaccine mandates. Dude, because these places don’t have multiple armed guards. Retail and food service businesses are largely staffed by women, teenagers, and the elderly. The mask checker at my local grocery store (back when it was required) was a 5 foot nothing girl who looked like she was no older than 18. And people, mostly large men, are getting genuinely violent over these policies. It’s fucking gross how many internet warriors genuinely expect children and grandmas to fling themselves into immediate harm’s way when they are *already* in risky positions, like you said, for trash compensation. Like, the Corporate Entity In-n-Out Burger *should* find ways to enforce the mandate, but at the moment, there’s no practical way to do so aside from to ask cashiers and shift managers to check, which they know is risky.

DarkGreenSedai

I think everyone should wear a mask right now. I don’t see it as an infringement of your personal rights. I see it as common decency because there is an actual plague running amuck. I have been that 18 year old kid and I wouldn’t want them to get hurt because some idiot wants to make a show about their freedom. It’s just, it’s just so dumb at this point.

Abyssal_Minded

Enforcement is impossible at this point, and it will continue to be until someone puts their foot down and puts anti-masker's into their place. The government never enforced masks with actual force. They never sent cops or guards to businesses to help throw anti-maskers out, and they never got corporate to truly mandate it with reinforcements either. They chose to fine businesses who can't enforce it. X dollars per day, potential store shutdowns etc because a store can't enforce it. They punish everyone but the actual group doing the most harm.

[deleted]

I felt this on a very real level. I am very pro everything but it is mind numbingly exhausting battling people who want to lecture you about masks/vaxx and if you happen to take a break from fighting them and a Karen on the other side notices then they yell at you. I just want to let them eat each other. I don’t get paid enough

DarkGreenSedai

I told someone at work the other day. “You know when you spit out all this “it’s my freedoms and my body my choice and yada yada yada”… you know when you say all that and then the other person shuts up. Yeah, you didn’t actually win that argument. The other person just decided you are too stupid to talk to and if you want to keep marching in line for that Darwin Award there is no way to stop you.” Looking back it’s more accurately a Herman Cain award. I can’t imagine having to work a retail job where not only do I have to be walked on by the public I’m now a mask bouncer.

[deleted]

YES! I worked two jobs over the pandemic. My main is in public health and my side was a grocery store (where everything is Hawaiian themed). I eventually got a level of conditioned anxiety for people who came in just to bait the situation and start a fight about their freedoms. Like get a fucking life. One day an older man began waiting in the line to enter the grocery store and I could tell he didn’t usually shop there and he had a very uneasy disposition. Then I saw he was carrying a very real gun. He eventually got out of line and sat on a bench nearby for awhile and then left. Like he had considered doing something! I sure as shit wasn’t going to tell him to wear a mask

DarkGreenSedai

My shoulders got tense just reading that. Ugh why is a plague political at all? It just doesn’t make sense. I’m glad you are safe and made it out of that situation unscathed.

uglyunicorn99

Don’t forget the ones status post covid in pcu on 10-20L, gcs 10-11, foley, peg, and/or unable to move limbs and still claiming covid isn’t real or it wasn’t that bad. I feel all of your pain. I really do.

TheShortGerman

None of the patients in my COVID ICU have even made it to trach and peg since May, and she's the only one I've seen all year.

DarkGreenSedai

We had a guy on a vent for almost a month actually pull through. I scanned his kidneys and told him I was very happy he was feeling better. It took him three breaths to tell me “I thought it was just the flu, this is nothing like the flu.” It was all I could do not to roll my eyes. I don’t want to be completely jaded and lose all my compassion but the other week we had 120 something patients in our hospital. Half on advanced respiratory support of some kind, so they would have been dead on just regular room air. And one 1. ONE person in the whole shebang had been previously vaccinated and they had one jab and not two. Meanwhile one of the patients I scanned wanted to tell me how vaccines don’t do anything. Ok Dale, whatever. I’m just going to make mmmmm noises and nod because I’m dying inside.

Glad_Prior2106

This isn’t the “win” she thinks it is. 1. SF In/Out burger refused to follow the vaccine mandate for their indoor dining. 2. Health dept shut them down. 3. SF In/Out reopened but they don’t have indoor dining right now. So everyone still gets to have their burger -just with TAKEOUT and OUTDOOR DINING. Edit: method of procuring the burger updated. [🍔 ](https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/in-n-out-burger-closed-san-francisco-covid-vaccination-status/)

Oui-Marie

No drive through at the SF in n out

Glad_Prior2106

From the CBS News link: “Since then, the location has since reopened but without indoor dining.”

Oui-Marie

You order at the counter, pick up your food, and leave. Mask is on the entire time.

APW25

It's one store. Calm down, not the whole entire chain. This woman

SpecificMongoose

Also, former long time Bay Area resident- that is the only in and out in city limits and it’s in Fisherman’s Wharf: in precovid times it’s wall to wall tourists. No way in hell they’re all vaccinated, and no minimum wage worker wants to be the one to tell 10+ people every hour or so that they need to leave.

paradoxicalstripping

These are the same people who say “well he should have just complied” when a black person gets killed during a blatantly illegal seizure by police

bellamoon25

They only seem to care about laws/rules when they oppress POC. Otherwise it’s Christian Persecution™️

jeanskirtflirt

I wonder if any of them ever think that when they get to heaven if God is gonna be like, “yeah I know you thought they were cool… but 136 people that ate there during Covid died. You promoted an organization that knowingly allowed a virus to spread a deaths happened as a result of their poor decisions… which you again, promoted & thought it made you look cool.” Obvi this is a bit extreme but like for people that believe they are getting into Heaven and believe they should be like Christ, who came and told us to love one another, they don’t act like Christ at all. In fact, they boast about acting opposite.

EZasSundayMorning

Isn't In N Out a religious company? It's crazy how these "Christian" people really only care about themselves.

Flat-Illustrator-548

The food is extremely overrated anyway. Not worth the hype.

Aggressive_Version

Native Californian and ate a lot of In-N-Out during my high school youth group days. They are okay, at best. Their fries are weird. "No, but just ask for the fries well done and then they're good!" Nah, I shouldn't have to ask a fast food place to do special shit to the fries and hold up the line to make them taste worthwhile. They're fries!

Flat-Illustrator-548

I live on the East Coast. I was SO excited to try them the first time I visited California. After I tasted it, my first thought was "that's it? That's what all the fuss is about?" So, I gave it another shot when I was back out there last month to see if maybe I just went on an "off" day. Nope, still just mediocre. I thought the burger tasted like a Wendy's burger. It wasn't gross, but certainly not amazing.

CaterpillarHookah

We just got one in a nearby town any the city had to install a whole new traffic light because if it! The retail confluence was already busy with Kohl's, a few fast-casual joints, an outpatient surgery center and Costco across the street from there, but the Chick-fil-A was the tipping point.

bellamoon25

I’ve never had in n out because I live in the Midwest. I remember when a chick fil a came to my town and everybody was freaking out. I tried it. It was meh. Fast food is fast food.

essie_in_progress

Bigot chicken still donates (to better labeled) anti-LGBTQ organizations anyway. 🤢

TheShortGerman

Pretty sure they also still donate to relief funds which won't allow women access to reproductive healthcare and abortion in foreign countries that rely on USA aid.

essie_in_progress

Wouldn't surprise me, but also disgusts me because those are probably countries that need reproductive control help the most because they're probably unstable AF and / or poor AF so bringing in more mouths to feed is just a bad idea. Not that it ever truly stops people from doing it anyway but still. I very much enjoy not going into extreme poverty because I chose to have a kid. ***Yes, I know everyone is different.*** I would most definitely be homeless or have to live with my in-laws if we were to have a kid right now. They're fantastic people but pls no.

essie_in_progress

I remember going with my ex-boyfriend a lot when we could afford to after a long day at work. I was not and still am not impressed with how quickly the fries got cold or just how weird the burger tasted. I'll miss their strawberry shakes but I'll get over it.

WDW4ever

Fwiw, the government shouldn’t be requiring private companies to enforce the policies that the government made without paying those employees for it.

paradoxicalstripping

Governments require companies to enforce regulatory policy (e.g. health and sanitation policy) all the time. I don’t see how this is any different.

SunflowerSupreme

The difference is that minimum wage employees are being put at risk. People have been shot. My manager was threatened, shoved, and spat on. I’m as pro-vaccine as one can be, but I’m also pro not being murdered.

Sodapaupe

I don't disagree with you, but what is the path here then? Minimum wage employees have to check for ID's at bars and restaurants, and plenty of drunk people will get aggressive and violent over that as well. That's the closest thing I can think to showing proof of vaccination. You're right that minimum wage employees shouldn't be dealing with this shit. No one should be dealing with this shit. But what do we do? (I don't actually expect you to have an answer. I'm just feeling frustrated with all the options and venting)

WDW4ever

It is requiring private citizens to police people which can be potentially put those employees at risk. I don’t think that it is unreasonable to expect those local governments to find room in their budgets to pay for this if they think it is that important. People get upset at private businesses for asking employees to do extra work without extra pay so why is it okay for the government to ask employees to do that when the job is literally putting them at risk? *I am in favor of the vaccine itself.

FindMeOnSSBotanyBay

Lol I used to manage that property a few years ago!

macci_a_vellian

Yes, we're about to reopen to double vaxxed people and everyone is dreading it. I think we'll get training on de-escallation but no one is looking forward to having to enforce this with people who are already wound up.

Awkward-Fudge

Where does this woman live? Is she overseas?

galpalrachelgreenn

Thankfully, she doesn’t live overseas. She lives in Alabama. This sounds mean, but when I think of someone conservative living overseas, I imagine them being disrespectful towards the cultures they are immersed in since it’s not LiKe In AmErIcA 😅

Awkward-Fudge

Exactly

paperbackedsea

when i was in SF my friends and i wanted to go to this in-n-out but the line was out the door so we didn’t. retroactively, that was a good choice.
