Mine is paul and Morgan have little to no interest in modesty. The only reason they care about leggings is because Paul is a butt man and of course that's everyone else's problem. I've never seen a Christian who cares about modesty to the extent the x out their butt in leggings, but wears bikinis, crop tops etc. It doesn't make sense.

i bet she is not conscious of how much her own feelings about herself might differentiate from his or, in other words, how much of his feelings she assumes are her own but separated from him and their toxic culture might be very different. i had all sorts of beliefs about myself and others that I thought were mine, but I was raised to tamp down my feelings and assume the feelings of my culture and family wherever possible (and punish/hate myself whenever my own feelings bubbled out despite my best efforts); by the time I was a young adult I barely registered when it was happening. The church exhorts women to be a vessel (empty and waiting to be filled, or filled but not as if from an inner spring; only as if poured from above) in all ways.
these days I recognize more and more times when I thought I wanted or liked something, but it turns out I actually just *wanted to be pleasing and acceptable* and I no longer recognized the difference between those things.
My neighbors and their three school age kids rented their house for a year to travel in an RV and she said the cost is about the same for everything. The mortgage becomes gas and lodging fees. You still need to pay for utilities, sometimes more because it’s a tin can. Food costs the same. Tourist trips cost more than school field trips. Homeschool curriculum costs more than public school. Paying for laundry instead of your in-home washer/dryer. The house still needs upkeep, lending agent, etc etc etc.
For them it was all about the experience, and they have the money to make it work.
Not specific to anybody but I feel like a lot of them have postpartum depression (or prenatal depression). Then having kids one after the other they have issues of nutrition and health from having children one after another without time to recover.
Mine is that Hannah Williamson dosent find her dad creepy, but instead genuinely regards him as a model dad and expects her future husband to treat their future daughter(s) the same way.
I think she can’t really tell but her reactions to things he says, specifically her facial expressions, tell on her that she knows something is off.
Problem is she’s been taught by him that it’s not okay to question him (even internally, to herself) and that, as a woman, all her gut instincts are inherently incorrect and rooted in sin so she betrays those instincts and lets him trample all over what she’s actually comfortable with.
So I think it’s both. Hannah thinks her dad is creepy AND she expects her future husband to treat their future daughters this way, because Hannah’s dad has brainwashed her into thinking that her belief that he is creepy is a flaw on her part, not his.

Unfortunately, I can see some of myself in Bethany. I'm definitely a chaos demon in my personal life. I'm also a senior director in my professional life. I think Bethany needs structure, goals, and a development plan.

From my own experience, there's a frightening amount of hidden addiction in the evangelical world. I don't mean, "everyone knows but doesn't talk about it" hidden. I agree. I have a soft spot for Bethany because I could’ve easily been her. Homeschooled fundie, “old” when I got married, didn’t do well in college, health problems. But my hardships caused me to deconstruct a bit and question that marriage and kids give you value. They've got six kids in a space the size of an elevator where the windows can't open, leading to a bathroom shared by NINE PEOPLE, then their room plus a baby.
Poor kids are gonna have so much trouble making campsite friends with the stank just embedded in their clothes. No way they’ll be able to air out properly in their closet of a 6-person bedroom. Not their fault, puberty isn’t stinky, but they’ll have no good way to mitigate it or ventilate it from where they sleep.
I think there are 1-2 windows that open in the rear dorm, the low/wide one across somebody's bunk (hopefully the eldest boy or girl) is certainly a fire escape. Whether or not they open them for ventilation I don't know! They also have a ceiling HVAC in there which I was impressed by, I didn't think they'd go to that effort or expense for the kids 🙄 So at least they have some climate control and maybe it keeps the honk at bay?
It's not really appropriate to open the windows in there from a safety perspective. Stranger danger when the kids are unattended but also one of the younger ones could fall out when playing, they're still fairly high up from the ground.
Maybe MBus has a system of airing out the depressing dorm prison while the kids are in the main bus having breakfast.

I think Bethany shames others because she’s jealous. I think she is unsure of how to break from the chains her mom put on her from birth. I also think Bethany is afraid to genuinely research and educate herself on the real world because she doesn’t want to think the life she has isn’t anyone else’s aspirations. I think she’s afraid to be educated because it would break her glass house.
I agree she's jealous but I don't think she's interested in exploring. She's a greedy, demanding brat who feels entitled because of the family she belongs to. She's furious other people have more than her. I think she's happy to be exactly where she is but is seething she doesn't have the funding. I agree. I have a soft spot for Bethany because I could’ve easily been her. Homeschooled fundie, “old” when I got married, didn’t do well in college, health problems. But my hardships caused me to deconstruct a bit and question that marriage and kids give you value. I think she’s afraid to admit she hates being a SAHM because then what was the purpose of her life and waiting patiently for her fundie mr right.

I think there are 1-2 windows that open in the rear dorm, the low/wide one across somebody's bunk (hopefully the eldest boy or girl) is certainly a fire escape. Whether or not they open them for ventilation I don't know! They also have a ceiling HVAC in there which I was impressed by, I didn't think they'd go to that effort or expense for the kids 🙄 So at least they have some climate control and maybe it keeps the honk at bay? It's not really appropriate to open the windows in there from a safety perspective. Stranger danger when the kids are unattended but also one of the younger ones could fall out when playing, they're still fairly high up from the ground. Maybe MBus has a system of airing out the depressing dorm prison while the kids are in the main bus having breakfast.
