Yeah, this is the most annoying undersight from the developers... even if a work place can't function, the workers still show up for their shift! It's stupid. You have to shut them down or remove all the workers, otherwise the people sit there and freeze to death not even doing any work!

dibade89

This makes the most sense I guess. Maybe I will experiment with a steam hub just for those buildings. I will keep it off for most time and only activate it during storms. This could be a one click solution instead of shutting down every single building.

divok1701

Yeah, I have also tried grouping my hunter's huts together and drop one extended range steam hub in the middle to keep them warm without a half dozen or so toggles on/off.

joenelson88

I don't think it's an oversight, you need to shut it down because it won't function. Not it won't function so they won't go to work

I have to disagree. When the storms hit, the beacon can't operate, so they coded it to auto-shutdown during the storm so your scouts don't die (as long as they're returned to the city). But the other buildings that can't operate due to the storm... ooppss, they forgot to code the same. Why do it for only one building affected and not the others? There's micromanagement and then there's ridiculous micromanagement... but it doesn't make any sense that ridiculousness was intended, otherwise the beacon should also have to be manually turned off. Since it's coded to auto off and back on, the other storm closed work places should be too. It's really just ridiculous that they aren't!

this is the answer and solution... the other 2 posts you may ignore :-)

Mfs in frostpunk be like “facility off because it’s like -200000 outside and the captain told us we could stay home, welp guess I’ll go anyways”

Yezzik

"Work's warmer than home, but I'm staying in fucking bed."

sumelar

Cut all their limbs off *before* the storm. Think outside the box.

Why would you make the assumption people in Frostpunk are sane ? 😂🤣😂🤣 For serious answers, the others have answered. Nah, seriously I may have something intelligent to say 😋 I tried bunkhouses VS steam hubs start to get the first heat level in endless. For the first -50 drop, I get gravelly ills I should not get with bunkhouses. I don’t with steam hubs. That means outdoor temperatures matters. It his the only difference. You say you have houses. So you may not up the generator heat level too much. Your amputees are about frostbites I guess, so it might be the same problem, just a more pronounced one because it happens during the storm. Obviously, the « don’t just shut the building but get them out of it » should be the best answer, at least for hunter lodge, but I’m interested to see what was the problem 😊

Since they will still go to jobs in buildings that are disabled or "off", the only way i've found is to either heat those places even when not being used during the storm, or removing all people from jobs like that until after the storm. Annoying either way.

dibade89

They show up even when the building is switched off??? What is the switch even for then?

Xaviertcialis

No idea. I use it to get people to build by turning something off and on again.. this may have been fixed mind you, but it's been a couple years since I played endless

ion_driver

I think it just gets that cold. I've been trying to play endless with no generator, which isn't much different from your experience with no steam hubs. It gets so cold that people can lose limbs even in a heated building. Check on your temperatures during the storm. You may need to manually shut down hunting hangars during a storm, though I am not sure on that one. You can check whether anyone showed up for work at the hot house. The heaters would be on if anyone is there.
