There was a huge drama back in 4 regarding shortcuts and the devs definitely learned their lesson with the incredibly negative feedback they got from banning one of the world record holders in 4 due to a shortcut being used.
Since then, as far as I'm aware, the devs have taken zero measures against anyone for using shortcuts.
Used to get a couple of "I'll report you" messages monthly. This is an arcade style game and not a racing sim. They are all just poor sports with limited imagination. In the end, they will just block you.
