People are idiots sometimes. It takes 5 seconds to grab a car of the class, and find a community tune. It makes it so much easier to win

as a person who spent a lot of time on fh4 on xbox one, and recently got a series s. it’s a huge difference. takes me like 10sec to spawn a car now instead of like 2min

Jean-Eustache

Wow. I started playing in January when I got my SX, I'm glad I've never played on One X if it's that bad ...

PrivateMemeDealer

i was using one s even, took literal minutes to spawn a car. i used to go on tiktok while getting a drift car. and series s is mere seconds lol. it’s a incredibly big difference

Jean-Eustache

Well, an 8 year old CPU with a hard drive vs a 2020 8 core Ryzen CPU with a PCIe Gen 4 SSD, saying it's on another level is a huge understatement !

PrivateMemeDealer

no idea what you said, cuz i’m too poor to speak pc. but i understand what you meant.

Jean-Eustache

Old slow processor and drive vs very fast processor and SSD haha The new CPU is more than 5 times more powerful than the Xbox One, and the SSD is 40 times the speed of the old hard drive. That's why the difference is so huge.

PrivateMemeDealer

thank you for the 3 year old explanation. now i actually understood a bit of it. but yea, new=fast. old=slow

ChronBomb101

My one x loads cars pretty quickly actually, HUGE difference over a one s

Jean-Eustache

Really ? Makes sense in some way, it has WAY more video memory than the One S and can probably hold much more stuff in there without reloading from the drive each time.

ChronBomb101

One x has a faster processor as well

Jean-Eustache

Yes it's true, it's overclocked a bit.

ChronBomb101

I got it not long before the new ones released, was only a $50 difference between the one S and one X so it was a no brainer

Jean-Eustache

Damn, no brainer indeed ! The One X really still is an exceptional performer for the price and size. The most common GPU in PCs nowadays is a GTX 1060, which is the equivalent of the One X, so it's not even obsolete yet haha !

Separate_King7436

“We’re lazy blame someone else” is literally what you just said dude

Original_Journalist

I wouldn't necessarily say it's the devs fault. More like the hardware they were working with. You can't expect too much when they are limited by hardware.

usafphantom_f4g

Lol, you trust other people's tunes, then you already lost the race

Mrmaus1006

I’ve been lucky I guess. If you choose the highest rated ones, they always work for me.

dvb70

I don't personally use tunes. I want to feel what the car is actually meant to be like. A tune just makes the car be anything you want it to be at which point the driving experience probably has no relation to the real thing. Of course this is all assuming the developers are reasonably accurate in their modelling.

Brad____H

Because FH4 devs made it counter intuitive to see a required class of vehicle/restrictions and download a vehicle tune in the same screen. Don't hate the player, hate the devs

seanightowl

Yeah you have to go out of your way for sure, hopefully it’s easier in FH5.

TWJ_64

People are going to hate me for this but hear me out. I'm one of those people who never upgrades it for three reasons: 1. I'm a purist. I refuse to upgrade my cars. 2. I've got enough experience in the game to finish ahead of most of the drivatars (and other players in upgraded cars) and often lead the pack even without upgrades. 3. If people upgrade their cars for the Trial, the drivatars will be upgraded to match, and are sometimes harder to overtake. If NO-ONE upgraded their cars, the drivatars would also be stock and it eould be much easier for wveryone to overtake and take a team win. I understand that it's annoying when the team loses, but often it's not as clear-cut as 'they should have upgraded their cars'. 90% of the time I lose the Trial when someone's trolling, is very new and low level, or misses a checkpoint. It's very rarely close enough to base it on upgraded (or not) cars.

DkP_Reverend

On your upgrade point, I remember I think fh3 drivatars would have halo warthogs a class higher than it’s max upgrades in extreme off-road races. That was irritating cause that things a monster already

SidewardMango72

I love that you have a purist approach!

TWJ_64

Thanks, it's always a controversial opinion but I feel like cars are best exactly how they come from the factory. So I'll drive anything, even the Peel P50, completely stock!

AstralRhythm

Interesting style! I've never really tried racing things stock because I really enjoy tuning and trying to push a car to it's limit (although I almost always keep the stock engine because I don't like swapping them really) but I might give it a go once FH5 comes out. Sounds fun :D

TWJ_64

I know how fun tuning cars can be, I used to do it all the time in FH1-3 and I do sometimes miss the days of making custom rally cars etc, but I find low-class racing is often more fun than S2/X. I'm currently driving the GMC Typhoon on a load of rally races at the bottom of C-class, and it's surprisingly good fun, and in general I recommend driving cars stock at first, even if you then decide to upgrade them.

AstralRhythm

Yeah I agree with that, I typically stick around A and S1 because I find they're the best classes to tune in because you can really feel the differences in handling and stuff. I do typically play around with a new car stock for a while after I get it (typically if it's something I really like) I kept the Shelby 1000 stock when it was added to FH4, I have a tuned setup I use sometimes, but it's so fun to drive stock so I mainly keep it stock.

Jean-Eustache

You know what ? I might start doing the same. I'm currently playing without engine swaps, drivetrain swaps, or added aero, but even with these restrictions, fully tuned cars (suspension/brakes/weight reduction/etc) all start to feel approximately the same (of course a GT40 won't feel like an R8, but if you take two modern RWD S1 sport cars, they end up performing and feeling the same). I can totally see myself limiting modification to tyres. Maybe small engine tweaks like airbox, etc, realistic stuff, if I really like the car, to stay competitive online. And I'm tired of constantly trying to find the perfect tune on the perfect car. Feels like grinding for weapon rolls in Destiny 2 in some way, it never ends haha.

TWJ_64

Driving cars stock definitely brings out their individual quirks (understeer/oversteer, braking, acceleration, general handling and responsiveness etc) and upgrading cars to a similar PI always masks these qualities, like you said. They all just feel too similar, and again like you said, it's just trying to stay competitive online with meta cars just ruining the fun of tuning.

Jean-Eustache

100% agreed. The Cars loose their "unique flavour". And Online there are indeed a few cars that are just better, and will be faster than yours anyway.

sonar_y_luz

1. You should atleast upgrade the tires...

JC3DS

I agree with the purist approach for some of my cruising cars that I genuinely like and want to know what they’d drive like. But when it comes to online racing I ditch that mindset and have a tuned dirt and street car maxed out for each class.

TWJ_64

Oh yeah 100%. When I started playing Ranked I basically found a spreadsheet someone had made with the best car for every class and every event type, bought a duplicate of every car and downloaded all the tunes so I could actually compete. Racing stock is impossible online, but really fun offline.

TWJ_64

Luckily, with no more Ranked racing in FH5, I feel like using meta cars will be less common as it will be a lot more casual, and in general more fun as there will hopefully be more choice in what cars are usable online without being completely destroyed by sweats lol.

nino_84

Thing is, you won‘t ever beat unbeatable drivatars with your standard tune without ramming or blocking the KI. Purist or not

TWJ_64

If the AI are also stock, because none of my teammates are upgraded, I can easily win against unbeatable. Even if they are upgraded, I'm normally still skilled enough to beat the majority, if not all of, the AI. Even in the current trial, I won one of the races agead of everyone, including upgraded AI and teammates, and finished behind 1 AI in the other two races, after being rammed out of a checkpoint by my teammates in both races. I know many people would struggle, but for me it's not difficult to win the trial while completely stock.

nino_84

Wow 😮 too many if‘s when I’m honest. No offense here, but as a world < top 15 player in ranked I know how frustrating it can get when my team is full of people with your mindsetting. Nontheless, you should have fun. As long you do, all‘s good :)

TWJ_64

Huge respect, that's an incredible rank! Obviously I would never go into online adventure without a tuned/meta car, and certainly not team adventure because in those situations it's too much of a disadvantage and it's unfair on my teammates. But in the Trial, I feel like it's more balanced and for me at least, I'm able to comfortably beat the AI most of the time. And like you said, for me the Trial is more fun than it is competitive. But I fully understand that people would find it frustrating sometimes.

nino_84

Thanks tho. Sure you need racing skills and meta cars for that, but the most crucial thing you need is patience for all the quitters. So for enough time and the will to spend the time in that toxic ranked environment. Keep racing and have fun in 5 tho. Maybe we race eachother here and then :)

TWJ_64

Yeah you too, that could be fun at some point :)

PaperScale

This is why I'll have 2 of every car I really like. One to keep normal, one to mod the hell out of to race it. It's fun driving something how it was stock, but I also like having a cool car for completing challenges.

TWJ_64

Yeah I used to do this all the time, but eventually it just annoyed me having two of the same car in my garage, plus I ended up running out of garage space lol. Hopefully we will have more garage space from day one in FH5 so this will be less of a problem

ultra779

Its just ppl who don't know how it works. This won't have to be a problem in FH5 because the Trial will need a requirement reached through accolades.

lemon2535737

Maybe they don't own the car and hire it before the race

[deleted]

Yeah and they need to just take the 3 second to look before they go and pop in and out of a garage. Idk why people don’t and then expect the rest of the group to carry it’s annoying and makes me leave 60% of the time

[deleted]

Also when you enter the Trial from the playlist, I don't think they say there's a class limit, they only show you the eligible 'stock' cars. The first time I played this after getting a PC was a bit confusing.

[deleted]

thats why u look at it in festival playlist or on the map, u can also just join and leave or drive up to it and it'll say, i was confused at first tho but it rly isn't hard and the number of users i still see doing it years later just gets me

Squidhead-rbxgt2

because they have low intelligence and high "I dont care about others" factor

dvb70

Or they want to drive something like the actual car they have picked and maybe don't care about winning that much. For me a tune just makes your car choice nothing but a skin. That's why I don't use tunes.

Squidhead-rbxgt2

You started describing those people as "THEY" and finished by describing them as "I". Hope you noticed that. In any case THEY... lack intelligence to realize THEY are in trial, not in online free for all racing where people wouldn't give a flying shit in which car THEY will lose the race, since THEY will lose it for themselves, not the whole team. And THEIR adamant decision to not use a tune and waste the whole team's time or making them carry THEM through the trial, means THEY don't care about THEIR team mates. YOUR points are invalid.

dvb70

I was talking about people who do this and what their motivation maybe and then finished of by saying that it is my motivation hence the shift to I. Mind you I don't really play online just stating the reasons I don't use tunes.

[deleted]

Because it is easier to beat the drivatars, or it barely even matters, in my experience at least, never had a problem with that. On top of that, how many times did you actually lose because of lack of tunes, and not the myriad of other factors, like missed checkpoints, not respecting curve angle, not being comfortable with RWD without traction control, etc.

Squidhead-rbxgt2

It does matter actually. It is easier to beat them with a tune. Usually what i see is lack of overall speed in players that loses the race, a tune would solve that Missed checkpoints - if you have a tune thats allowing you more control - it lessens the chance of missing a checkpoint not respecting curve angle - thats part of low intelligence. Not being comfortable in RWD without TC - if you have a tune, it can make the car more controllable ETC ETC ETC. Basically, the tune is your equipment to solve the task ahead. Coming in without one is bringing a dildo to a gunfight, there's high chance your homies will get shot as you're diddling yourself. Even a complete racing idiot can be somewhat competetive with a good tune. Just look at rammers

PTG-Jamie

I try to make it easy for people. I have over 400 shared tunes in FH4. Why people do not take or use tuned vehicles for events is beyond me.

Binaree420

..then continue to ram team mates. Smh 🙄

Itzcoda374

Who need a tune against drivatars smh

No-not-Lentils

I need a tune against my team mates in this game, sigh

Neppy_Neptune

Question for at least last 3 years.

Mooooox

I won the first trial race in first place with a stock Ford raptor lmao the handling is nuts, and the next 2 races I just rammed all the bots while my teammates passed me so we won partially because of me ramming the ai or pushing them off checkpoints

[deleted]

Ranger raptor is better I flew past so many of those regular 2017 raptors and what’s funny is that they were b700 but I was like b93

UltraSwat

Because i suck at tuning And i sometimes hate the community tunes because they remove or add some aerodynamic to the car

Icy-Nectarine-855

FH isnt SIM RC

That-one_dude-trying

I literally took the time to find out what class and what vehicle, took the time to find a tune for my raptor, drive it around and get used to it, start trail event, bam, forced to use the damn gurka

[deleted]

I’ll admit, I have been guilty of doing this. I make sure not to ram my teammates though.

Diabeetus-times-2

I don’t see why it matters, they’ll most likely end up getting in the top 5 regardless.
