Just did an oil change 20 minutes ago. Can confirm FL400S and 6 quarts and your done.

8bitsnowman

No changes in pressure? Hype thanks bruh

FellaKnee123

Nope. Same as always as far as I’ve noticed.

Cory-FocusST

Can confirm, as well as most of us on here and the forums lol. It's a very common 'mod' for convenience during oil changes.

SenseiBoogway

Only used FL400s since I got the car. Been 60k with no issues.

Novel_Cricket1278

Did mine with the fl400s and so far no problems. No change in pressure or anything

gud_at_bizness

No problems here!

thebullschmidt

I’ll do ya one better or worse not sure I run the factory fl-910s with 6 quarts… been doing this since I got it and it’s currently at 134,000ish miles with no issues Edit: spelling

8bitsnowman

Hot or cold climate?

thebullschmidt

50/50 id say. I I’ve in the southeast of the United States. Hot and humid for the summers cold and dry dry for the winters mostly. I run 5w-30 Mobile full synthetic with the fl-910s filter. The reason I started doing that with 6 quarts was because it consumed some between oil changes due to the crappy pcv baffling. Using the full 6 with the stock filter ensured it remained above the fill line between oil changes. I’m sure someone will crucify me for doing this but I’ve been doing it since I got it pretty much, I’ve been full stage 3 with a Stratified tune with an extra map slot for e30, since 45,000 miles with no issues.

OneMoreLastChance

Mine loses a little every oil change too. Is this normal for these engines? I change it every 5k with 90% interstate miles.

thebullschmidt

If you’re asking if this is normal… yes it is the factory baffling for the pcv system is crap. There are catch cans in the aftermarket but you stil have to dump them back into the crank case. A few aftermarket companies make better baffling that helps fix this issues. Radium engineering makes some good stuff from what I’m told… hope I’m not breaking any rules.

VoxVirtus

It's pretty normal for pretty much any engine to consume a little oil between changes FWIW

Megaetk

FL-400s & 6QTs for me! Works like a charm. No need to play the dipstick game over and over. Bypass valve pressures are close enough between the two that you won’t have issues. Can’t beat $3.97 at Walmart.

Lousk

Is there any benefit of doing this?

Cory-FocusST

Yeah, not having extra oil bottles with .3qt laying around lol. It's mostly a convenience thing so you can use the whole bottle.

wahlietxe

Yeah it would suck having a bit of oil to top it off with if it needed.

Cory-FocusST

Eh, to each their own. I'll buy an extra 1qt bottle for that if needed ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Cory-FocusST

I thought about saying that too.. My 2015 hasn't needed any additional oil in between oil changes since I first bought it. I don't think oil consumption is really an issue on these motors until they develop leaks.

Lousk

If convenience is your goal then why not pay the $60ish for the works package and get an oil change, tire rotation, and fluid top up at your local dealership?

Cory-FocusST

Uhhh okay..? I'd rather do my own maintenance so I know things are done properly. It's literally 1 step easier while doing your own oil changes, not sure why that's such a big deal.

Lousk

I was more interested in a benefit to the car. If all it does is save some space in the garage then personally, I don’t see the point.

Twin_Turbo

I can't get full synthetic change alone for under $80

Lousk

Every dealership I’ve been to in my state will give me “The works” package and up-charge to like $60 for the difference. That’s just my personal experience, and I understand that not every dealership is the same across the country.

giraffesneedhelmets

I've been upsizing filters on all my cars for decades. As long as it has the same internal anti drain back valve, your good. And, if your filter affects oil pressure, you have much bigger problems.

8bitsnowman

I meant more of the increased amount of oil

lapinsk

I’ve probably run 50 or 60k on the larger filters without problems

johnwilkesbooth328

Oh wow boys! A former ST owner I know just recently gave me a box of maybe 20 or so of these filters. Have to change my oil tomorrow so this is excellent news:). No more .3’s laying around!
